***INFORMATION FROM SOMEONE AT A VENUE BOX OFFICE*** At most if not all venues, when contracts are done for the shows a band get a certain number/section of tickets to do their own pre-sale. Depending on the band they negotiate these seats. (ex: U2 may have more pull to negotiate better seats than a lesser know band). These pre-sales have NOTHING to do with the venue themselves. They are handled by the ticketmaster (or other sales outlets), but not by the venue.
The venues do not have any details about the INXS seats or tickets. It's all handled exclusively through the Fan Site.

Thanks beantown.
Gotta tell you this upfront, after dealing with The Chicago Theatre before about venue sold seats....
DONT DO IT...DO NOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE GOOD SEATS!
The venue holds back a very small amout of tickets for "patrons"...yeah right. I have a friend that works at the theatre and let me tell you...those tickets are gone in a flash to friends and family of the staff of the theatre and big wigs wanting their kids to get good seats.
What people don't realize is that the chicago theatre is primarly that...a theatre...not a concert hall...so they put on very few if any "rock and roll" shows. When they do, the staff, which are mostly young, grab them up quick.
Don't make a mistake and don't waste your time, trust me. Don't belive the hype. Make sure you buy during INXS.COM presale. I know I am!
PS. My friend can't even get me tickets, she said they are pretty much already spoken for unless you want balcony seats and not floor.

Are you planning to go to the Wang...? and if so, are you buying from the INXS presale for the Wang..( which is tomorrow?) or from the Wang presale which is Friday? Fabiansparkle seems to be advising to go with the INXS presale... Need to make decision soon...like now....!!!!

Myohmy,
I can only speak for my experience with the venue in Chicago, not anywhere else. Beantown is in Boston I think.
I'm going to use the inxs presale. I just know that the production company for the Chicago show is JAM and they are notorious for selling tickets to scaplers and getting kickbacks.
It's always been that way in Chicago...that's why there are so many Metro tickets up for sale by scalpers here in Chicago on website. The Chic thea won't be any different.
I don't want to risk not getting any tickets and have to pay a scalper...I just won't do it.

Thanks for the inside scoop fabiansparkle. I am going to go with the INXS presale too. I just wish I could get 6 tickets, not just 4. Are you getting all 4?

Well, now I feel like an ass for asking this (not that it is going to stop me) but would you consider buying the two extra? I'll buy them off you.

I have tried to gather up as much info and advice so I can get tickets best I can....but I still can't decide what to do....I was leaning towards Mohegan Sun, but on the INXS site...there is not fan club presale at this time....and when I called Mohegan direct...they said they do not confirm a Feb show til late Nov or early Dec... I have a friend who is a ticket broker...and she said it is quite the racket...the ticket business that is!! She said that sometimes buying thru fan clubs works....sometimes it doesn't. It is very hit or miss...I do like that they are limiting how many you can get via the INXS fan club sale...I hope that is to limit brokers from buying huge quantities and reselling them for ridiculous prices...as you talked about.... Well I gotta make decisions quick...if I want to join INXS fan club...best do it asap!! especially if I want to see them at the Wang...

I think part of Beantown's point was that the more well known a band is the more pull they have to secure the best tickets for their fan club. INXS may not have much pull. They haven't done a major tour in ages.
From my own experience I can tell you that the hold will vary greatly from venue to venue. Going with the fan club may not be the best choice for those who are only planning on buying tickets to one show. In that case it may be better to get in on another presale (radio stations, best buy, hob, jam... to name a few) so you won't have to pay for use of a presale password.
I'd also like to add that having a fan club password does not guarantee that you will get tickets during the presale. The only promise they make is that you will have access to buy tickets during the presale... if they are available.
Good luck everyone!

Thanks anyway...I had to ask!
I'm so worried about this presale thing now. I hope I don't screw it up somehow. I'm just going to stick with the INXS deal (but thanks for your info fairmagda) and hope for the best. Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure WHAT I'm going to do, but I'd better figure it out fast. I think with the Chicago show, you NEED to go with the INXS pre-sale. As far as the other venues, I just don't know really. I do know that the Wang let's you pick your seats. I contemplated even doing the INXS pre-sale & the Wang pre-sale & see what tickets are best. I can always sell the other pair. I work down the street from the theatre, so I was going to p/u tickets & go in to the office late. Of course, this was before I had my breakdown this evening & ordered Q101 tickets. myohmy - to answer your question, I have NO idea what I am doing.

So now you are going to the Metro show & the Twisted show...in Chicago.... ?( she said turning 8 shades of green!!!) I guess I have to figure out what to do...in order to see Lovehammers ( and that other band) in Boston or CT...or maybe both! I am trusting you will tell us all the details about the Chicago shows...please??? Must change colors...I look awful in green!! LOL!!!

Damn. I'm worried that I might end up with crap seats. And then I'll second guess myself for jumping at the pre-sale and not waiting until Saturday! Blargh.

Don't worry... everyone who goes to alot of concerts has an opinion about presales. No one really knows what will happen with INXS ticket sales. Until the presales start tomorrow it is all speculation. We are just sharing a few different points of view. Good luck everyone!

OK....I have a Chicago Theatre Insider membership and last year got INCREDIBLY good seats for Clay Aiken's Joyful Noise concert. I think it's well worth it not to be sitting in the balcony. The only thing about the Insider is that there are many people who are members and not everyone will get the best seats. I'm just hoping that INXS didn't nab all of the closest ones for their fanclub. I don't want to be an INXS fan club member.
