I've thought and said that Marty was too good for INXS since the get go. They wanted a puppet. Someone who would just sing their songs the way they're told to without question, someone who hasn't got a writable song in his head and they got that in JD. They got a puppet. He screwed up almost every clinic he was in. He was very up front about not being a team player. He did everything he could to prove he shouldn't win. He couldn't sing the song that would decide whether he won or not without getting a drink of water. Marty on the other hand showed talent in writing and singing. JD has no unique qualities, he couldn't do anything different with a song like Marty did with Spears Hit me baby one more time. Marty was the talent and the leader of the pack, even the other participants seemed to lean on him and need his advice. I can't wait to see Marty blow the roof off of any INXS concert. Lets just hope he signs a contract because I can't see these old dudes liking the opening act smoking them every show. We all know Marty is the draw on this venue.. Inxs is going to have Lovehammers open for them, this washed up old band with washed up, over heard tunes that all sound the same is going to have a very talented young band open for them in a world tour. How is INXS going to take it when Marty and the boys get a bigger applause then they do? How many shows are they going to handle their audience walking out after the opening act? JD is going to be a lot to handle but we have to make sure Marty gets everything he can out of this advantage. We want to see him succeed and not have anyone undermine him. INXS is out to try to recreate something that they probably couldn't if they tried. I think if push came to shove they'd have the shittiest band out there open for them so they sound good. Lovehammers aren't an opening act, INXS should open for them. I'm in Canada but if I ever had a chance to hear the Lovehammers live I'd be all over it. I may be older then the usual fan, but that just makes me experienced.

I don't agree with you. I think Marty will do really well, and JD + INXS will also do well.
I may have gone overboard in 18+ forum, but this is more distasteful to me than some X-rated fantasy. There's no need to put JD and/or INXS down in order to make Marty look good. Marty is great and it's wonderful he's got the best position for him (opening act) - he'll go on to great things.
Anyone who liked INXS should give them a chance to see what JD can do. He could surprise everyone (and trust me, I couldn't stand him half the time during the show). I just think we should reserve judgment until after we see the show.

I'm not putting them down to make Marty look good. I don't need to, Marty is good. I have a right to my opinion and that's it. Frankly I have talked to quite a few people who share my opinion. I hope INXS is able to make a come back if that's what they're after. Personally I think JD is going to be too much to handle. I think by the numbers Marty's fans are going to far outweigh INXS fans. I really just wish them all the best.

I'm really sorry if it sounds like I'm putting down INXS or JD. I'm not. JD was very blatantly a brown noser and he did all of the things I said. INXS in my opinion are a one dimensional group. All of their music sounds the same. A lot of groups are like that. I feel the Lovehammers are going to be so much better, that's all.

I've thought and said that Marty was too good for INXS since the get go. I agree with you, to some extent. I think that INXS may have been worried a bit about the "Ziggy Stardust" scenario with Marty. However, I also get the feeling that INXS may not want to continue on for another 20 years (like JD kept saying over...and over). Maybe they just want to do their comeback thing and then fade away gracefully over the next 5-10 years. Clearly, Marty will be around for much longer.

I think it is great INXS has small venues on their tour because I can see Marty better. They are playing at the Family Arena in St Charles MO on feb 1. I will stay for the INXS part, but will be wearing a LOVEHAMMERS shirt to show my support.

Hey Sweetangel:
I am also from Missouri and can't wait for the Feb. 1st show. I have never been to the St. Charles Arena though. I am glad that it is smaller. I will also stay for INXS, but definitely there as a Marty Fan and will make it known.

Hi, I'm excited about the show coming to St. Charles, Mo. as I'm also from Missouri and not only a huge Marty fan but also love the music of INXS and I'm curious as to what they will be like in concert with J.D. fronting them. I think he deserves a chance as he may surprise lots of people by being an awesome lead singer for them. INXS has so much great music and fans like myself still want to hear it and enjoy it. It's too great not to be!

Is the list complete? There are multiple concerts in some states and the south and southeast are left out. I have heard that INXS may do another tour later in the year. If they come down here and don't bring Marty, I won't go, and I have been trying to be nice!

I've never been to the family arena..does anyone know the best way to get tickets? Wait in line at the family arena..call ticketmaster etc. I really want the $42.50 seats! All the tour dates are over at the INXS site and the tix are going on sale next week! Before I commit to two tix for Avery Fisher Hall, is it absolutely confirmed that the Lovehammers are opening everywhere on the tour?

I looked on ticketmaster for the date tix are going on sale in my area and it specifically says that Marty Casey, finalist is opening up for them. HTH!

OK...I'm a little skeptical about this tour thing. I was just reading Watch With Kristin on eonline.com and when asked about the RS:INXS show replied with this tidbit...
"A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend who knows finalist Marty Casey (kidding, it's not that far removed) tells me that after the finale was over, Mark Burnett took him aside and offered him a contract if he agreed to team up with the house band from the show! But Marty had to refuse the offer, because he's loyal to his own band back in Chicago. I guess they've got offers of their own coming in, so my sense is we haven't seen the last of Marty. Nor, of course, the last of J.D., whom I love."
Was this what the opening act was supposed to be? Was the offer never really for the Lovehammers? Is Marty really touring with INXS with the Lovehammers? Why hasn't an official announcement been made? This is really starting to bother me!

Why Mark Burnett? Was there some sort of reality show involved? It seems that Burnett would have no relevance to be signing band contracts...unless it was contingent upon some sort of television show. <still wanting Marty back on TV>

So should we be concerned that Marty & the Lovehammers may not be opening up for INXS? I don't see their names on any of the dates on Ticketmaster.

Maybe the contracts for the tour haven't actually been officially signed, since Marty is seeking management now.

A segment of an interview with Marty after the Sox game was posted on another board. In it he said that the decision as whether or not the Lovehammers will be opening for INXS will be made by the end of this week.
This makes sense because if it was confirmed, Marty's name would be splashed everywhere because he would be such a draw. Between Marty, JD and INXS themselves, the concerts would sell out instantly!
DEL
PS - for the person who asked: Mark Burnett productions created Rockstar and they signed all the contestents to contracts. Because they were established performers, the contracts are probably not as restrictive as for the AI, but you can bet he's got some kind of control over their appearances, at least for a set period of time.

I've seen it in print that Lovehammers will be opening, but until I see it with my own eyes on either the Lovehammers site, the INXS site or on Ticketmaster, I'll be uneasy.
