so, like you, i am a marty casey fan. in addition to being a marty casey fan, i have a wonderful and amazing boyfriend, who practically rolls his eyes every time i mention the words "marty" and "casey."
i live in nyc and i have 3rd row tickets to see lovehammers/inxs on feb 12. and i, of course, really really really want to go to the cbgb show on the 14th. my boyfriend has refused to go-- not in a jerky way, he's just not at all interested as he has very specific tastes when it comes to music (he's a musician himself, and i sometimes (unbeknowst to him) think of him as my "dark marty casey" because he does, like, dark, industrial, experimental music.)
the thing is, feb 14 is that most terrible of holidays... you know, the one with the cupid and the candy and the pink and red, etc.
my bf says he will not be upset if i decide to go to the cbgb show instead of hang out with him on vday. we are, after all, both uncoventional people, and also a little cynical about holiday observances. but i do feel a little guilty. this is our first vday together...
but marty casey! cbgb's for god's sake! i think i'm just gonna buy a ticket and go by myself. yes, that's what i'll do! won't i? should i? oh hell.

well, your boyfriend is probably right... men (for the most part) don't care about V-day as much as us girls do. Besides, V-Day comes EVERY year... how often do you get to see MC sing?

Radio:
Why are you so worried about what you will do for your bf on 2/14? The question is what will he did for you? Make it easy on him buy him a ticket too and tell him it would make you real happy if he joined you. It's not like you're asking him to go with you a Jessica Simpson concert. It'll make you happy and then afterwards you can make him happy and you get two Marts in the same place.
Have fun!

wow, thanks for the responses! i think i just needed a little nudge-- i've decided that i am gonna buy a ticket. i did offer to buy my bf one, but he said no, he really really really does not want to go.
i think he is sometimes threatened by my marty casey worship.

Well, I am glad to see you are going radiocure. I read this post and then got busy but was going to come on and tell you to buy a ticket for sure. I am assuming that since you are even asking about going to a show, you have never seen the Lovehammers live. LOL They put on the most kicka** show you could ever see. That is why so many of us are flying to LA to see them at the Viper. (could have gone myself but life got in the way). Once you see them on the 12th, you will be yearning for another chance to go. So I would even buy 2 tickets, one for you and one for bf, b/c chances are he will change his mind about Marty after he sees him. There are many Hammerhubbies around because they were 'dragged' to a show by their spouses. LOL
Worse case scenerio, if your bf still doesn't want to go to the show, you can sell the ticket to someone who does. Won't be hard to find someone. ; )

Don't worry, there will be so many of us from the board you won't be alone once you get there! I think we should all wear our wristbands. Also, is anyone up for dinner before the show?

radiocure, sowhat-----there will be a bunch of us there, some solo, some with their significant others. I, personally, have ruined my husband's plans for a romantic Valentine's Day with me because I will be in NYC at the CBGB concert and he will be back in Pennsylvania....and I wonder why he dislikes Marty & Lovehammers so much??? I did promise to make it up to him.....hopefully, that task will be "within reason"...LOL

I just checked the CBGB website and tickets are still available for the Feb 14th show---what are you waiting for? This is a great chance to see the boys HEADLINE and get a chance to be closer to them than any other concert so far....The CBGB website is listing Marty & Lovehammer's performance there "A Valentine's Day Massacre".....hmmmm, do they know something we don't?
