I was thinking we could get a group together for dinner before, perhaps drinks after, the Charlotte, NC show? I'm from Roanoke VA and will be driving down and staying in a nearby hotel, so I don't know what restaurants are in the area. Mabye someone could pick somewhere close to the Auditorium? So, ok...lets pick a place and post here if you want to join us. I'll call the restaurant and make a group reservation (or let them know a pack of us will decend upon them!) and lets make the cut off date, um, February 15th at noon. We should all wear red and black and wear our MC wristbands to recognize each other! Oh! And I want to be the first to invite someone very very special. Marty, if you are out there and happen to read this, we would love if you could join us or at the very least drop by! (hey, a girl can try, hmmmm?)

Sounds good, Tignor. As time gets closer, we will have to make some plans.

I'm here. Sorry for the delay...have last minute projects for classes before T'giving.
I need to find a nice, not too 'spensive restaurant near the auditorium. I live 3 hours away, so if anyone in the area can pick something near, that is easy to find? I can call them for a table...when we get closer, that is!
I'm excited...got my wristband, got the hotel room, all hyped up!

i live in monroe nc, only 15 mins. away, and the only resturant i know of right there at it is the Olive Garden and that may not be a good spot, so if anyone else around here going, i would be interested in where yall suggest if going into downtown charlotte. I usually steer away from the downtown, so i don't know of too many areas.... but would defiently go for this event!!

I don't know of any really nice restaurants in the immediate area of Ovens Aud. That area is not one of the best as it is in an older section of Charlotte. I will look for a bar type of place which there may be more of them than nice restaurants in that area. Once I find something, I will post it here. ;D

As long as it's easy to find and an easy drive to the aud., I don't really mind where, I just was thinking ease there.
I'm sure I could follow other peeps to the auditorium, get a Marty Caravan going, so as long as we gage time well and I get an address of the restaurant, that's cool. I'm staying at a hotel, right on Independance, 7 miles down the street.

I am going to the Merchandise Mart which is across the street from Ovens Aud. in the next week or two and will survey the area more closely to look for a bar/restaurant. I will post my findings here. ;D

okay, well the only bars in the immediate area are in the 7th street area (downtown charlotte) about 15 min. away. some of the names are RockBottom, Hickory's Tavern just to name a few. there are many clubs also. If this is an area you would like to go to i will post all the resturants/bars so we can pick one. other than that, there are no bars/resturants right there at the auditorium. let me know!!!!!!!

Do we want a bar or restaurant? Bar for after? For drinks? That would be cool. Someone who knows where one is we could all just follow to after But a restaurant before the show...some place not too cheesy that doesn't mind a big table of 10 or whatever, perhaps along the lines of a TJIFridays or Logans or something, where we could get drinks if we want or not, and some food...

OK! I've picked a restaurant. This will be it unless it sucks, and I don't know it. I picked from citysearch.com, it's 2 minutes from Ovens Auditorium, cheap and good food (or so they say)...now, I don't know this restaurant, so if it's really terrible, let me know www.sonnysbbq.comThe Sonny's near the auditorium is at 4301 Monroe Rd and directions can be found at www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1&1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=2700+E+Independence+Blvd&1c=Charlotte&1s=NC&1z=28205-6925&2ahXX=&2y=US&2a=4301+Monroe+Road&2c=Charlotte&2s=NC&2z= (this is from the auditorium to the restaurant) Whatcha think? Thought we could meet there at 5:00, get me a headcount by, say, Feb 15th so I can call and warn them we are swooping down on them. All wear the wristbands and that way we can find each other! PS--Marty and the Lovehammers, we would love to have you join us as well. Yeah, I know you are busy, but it can't hurt a gal to ask! Send me a PM if you are interested.

Hey Tignor: Thanks for looking into that. I sent you a PM of some other possible places. Sonnys is a local chain with so-so food. There are a couple of other places with a better atmosphere (read pm) I live only 10 miles from Ovens and these places are only 5 miles from Ovens. Anyone else going to Charlotte show and want to join us, PM me also. ;D

okay yes i know exactly which one you are talking about. it is a country type resturant, but i think the food is good. it is very family orientated. mostly all of it is eiter charboiled or bbq. its a small type resturant, so yes it would be good to call ahead of time to see if they even will do it. they will have to put many tables together. but like i said before i think the food is good if you like that type of cookin. very southern.

OK, SONNY'S IS NOW OUT. Don't think it's just right for us. OK, rockfan and I are working on it. She's working on it from living in Charlotte and I'm scouring the internet. So for now, Sonny's is out, and we (rockfan and I) will PM back and forth until we get something we think will work better. Don't worry, we will settle on something to please everyone. This will be fun!
