J - You know better. Guys don't need hints. You're right Mike. I did drop one hint already, though. I told my boyfriend I would ABSOLUTELY love to have a bouquet of tulips on my birthday -- pink ones. Okay, it wasn't really a hint, so much as a direction, but I think I might be getting some pink tulips on my birthday.

And if you don't get them? I mentioned it to my dad too, so I'm thinking I should get at least ONE bouquet of tulips. I'm pretty easy-going. As long as my bf doesn't completely forget about my birthday, I'll be fine. I'm not a demanding girl. I don't need expensive gifts. He's always very sweet. I have faith in him.

I love tulips too. Gerbera daisies used to be my favourite, but I just finished a campaign where I used an orange Gerbera on the poster and all the collateral materials, so I'm so damn sick of looking at those flowers.

This seemed like a good spot to open a Gingerpyle time capsule, since gp is older than dirt We used to drink, back in the day (Woodstock era) a very cheap wine called Vino Fino. It was $2.85 per gallon jug (yes, there was a fingerhole at the top so you could easily tip it up...lol....important because it was made of glass back then and fairly heavy..) We'd all chip in for it (poor hippie-types with no money) and drink it out of old chipped teacups. One night at a party at Acadia National Park's beach house for the lifeguards (college-types' summer job residence) we had a bit too much Vino Fino, waking up the next morning in another town and not knowing how the heck we got there. It was another time dears, but let's just say not much changes in the grand scheme of things... Just had a very funny thought: serving Dino Vino Fino....

I've been to Acadia National Park a couple of times. It's so beautiful there --- I'll bet you weren't looking at the scenery while you were drinking wine out of your gallon jug, though.

Here's the Vegas story from a mrsbud's eye view:
Got a PM from Rockfan and Jodie to call Jodie. I hadn't been on the boards for a few days, so the planets must have been all aligned, or something. Thanked Jodie but said we couldn't go because of too much going on. Told my hubby about it as in "Isn't it too bad . . ." and he said, "Go." (He did the same thing when I told him about the Viper.) What a guy! He's got be one of the best hammerhubbies around. Called Jodie back and got her voicemail. I started getting antsy and thought I had missed out. Flew in from Burbank (only an hour flight) and got to the hotel around 5:30. Got ready and then headed down the hall to meet up with Treebee, Tara Jordan and Stephanie in their room around 8. Carol (cjspas) and Jodie (with a carload) drove up and I'm sure you've heard about the long delays. No time for dinner (Rachel and I were getting cranky). Doc's hubby took a group photo before we hit the elevator (what a guy!).
The group headed over to the club about 10 and the show started at 11. They served chicken wings, etc. which was good since most of us were drinking on an otherwise-empty stomache. The band had a curtained off area to the side, so they walked right by us to the postage stamp-sized stage. The large dance floor was half empty and left plenty of room to rock out, cheer and scream the lyrics. The energy was unbelievable. It was like the Viper but without the sweaty sardine ambience. I kept exchanging glances with Carol and Jodie and we all had an "I can't believe we're here!" expression. They performed their hearts out and you could see they were having fun. They really got off on our presence there. Billy used a beer bottle to play at one point! I was able to "see" his leads, not just hear them. I saw the setlist in someone's hand and it looked like at least 15 songs. It was incredible to hear Ultrasound live. They did Into the Deep End. I just read recently that it was their first original. The crowd behind us must have thought we were all nuts how much we're into this band. I'm glad that Doc McGhee was there to see the support we gave the guys. He's been at other shows, but this one was unique. Wouldn't it be cool, indeed, if they open for Bon Jovi.
Marty said they were headed to the Center Bar in the casino and invited everyone (so, duh, where do you think we all went next? LOL) In his last diary post, Marty said that since they hadn't been able to have a proper tour wrap party, they were going make Vegas a real party. The title was "Up All Night Party" and that's a good way to describe it.
More to follow . . .
ETA: just cleaned up typos, etc. a little.

Mrsbud--
I forgot about the chicken fingers and taquitos they served. I actually was amazed that I wasn't hung over in the morning with how much I drank and how little I ate On Thrusday Must be that concert energy that vaporized the alcohol!
Hey Jodie have fun at the stand up. Laugh for me! I can always use a good one!

Oh my gosh--they were GIVING AWAY FREE TICKETS BECAUSE THEY NEEDED FANS TO BE THERE??? They knew this on WEDNESDAY??? HOLY MOLEY--all they would have had to do was to POST THAT ON THE LOVEHAMMERS BOARD, and hundreds of us would have been there!!! I would have dropped everything and gone to Vegas at a moment's notice for that show, had I know that! It would have looked A LOT BETTER to any 'bigwigs' that were at this show if the whole FLOOR had been packed with hundreds of screaming Hammerheads, rather than just a few dozen down front. We could have and WOULD HAVE been there for the band.....if someone had just let us all know. I am soooo sad..... I went to LA for the Viper Room, Chicago for the trifecta, and NY for Avery Fisher and CBGB's. I sure could have gotten to this one, too. It would have been so cool to hang with you folks that I met at the Rainbow again! Thanks for the write- ups, everyone. Wish I had been with you all. I know Nancy! I am sooooooooooo bummed over this.
