Summerfest is a blast. It is a huge music festival. I haven't been in years. (I have great feelings about Milwaukee as I went to college there!) MMMMmmmm weekend trip to Milwaukee in July. I'll have to think about that!

I am so there! Did anyone try to get a hotel? I called but it seems all in downtown Milwaukee are filled up already.....ugh!

I called all over downtown Milwaukee yesterday and found nothing . I did book a room at the Howard Johnsons on Layton Ave. by the airport. According to thier website they are just minutes from the Summerfest Grounds. Hopefully they'll have a shuttle.

Hey Steph, I called and booked here too. They don't have a shuttle though, so we'll have to drive downtown.

I don't know if there will be shuttles from the Hojos but there is a park and ride direct to Summerfest for the city buses at College Ave. College Ave is south of Layton. It's the back side of the airport. Are you driving or flying to Milwaukee? If you are driving that park and ride at College would keep you from having to drive into Summerfest grounds. If you are flying and not renting a car Layton is a major street so I know there are probably regular Milwaukee Transit buses passing by which would get you to Downtown Milwaukee. You might have to transfer but you'd be able to get there. (I went to college at Marquette which is in downtown Milwaukee and we managed to get around on transit pretty well.) There is a Milwaukee Transit link on the summerfest.com site. All and all Milwaukee isn't awful to drive in. Although any major event will have traffic!

I don't know for sure whether I will be able to go but I want to. If I do I will fly into Chicago or Milwaukee and I will rent a car because I'll want to be able to go see relatives who live nearby in the same trip. If I go, I be happy ot help transport fellow hammerheads. I'll know more about my plans in the next few weeks.

I'm so glad we'll be staying in the same place. When we were in Memphis they had phone #'s at our hotel of people willing to shuttle people back and forth. We paid some guy with a van $20 each to drive us and pick us up. Maybe they'll have something like that or we can take the bus. I just don't want to drink and drive.

Thanks for the information. I have never been to Milwaukee before. I plan on driving to Milwaukee but don't want to have to drive to the Summerfest.

Just FYI,
I booked a room at the Radisson North Shore Miwaukee today and it included 4 tix to the Summerfest and a free shuttle that runs from 10am to midnight....not to mention a free breakfast! Gotta love it!!

Wow thanks for the information. I don't know how you found this but it is a great deal. I just booked a room here now too. Now I have two reservations but this definitely looks like the better deal.

I wonder if the Radisson is the old Grand Milwaukee Hotel? They used to run deals like that for the Summerfest (back in the day). If it is, it's a very nice hotel.

Ok so they are still not officially on the Summerfest site!!! We still have time.......but just getting nervous having made plans!

I have been lurking around the board for a couple of months, but have never posted. I fell in love with Marty while watching "Rock Star" and fell even more in love with the Lovehammers when I bought MOMM, not to mention thier subsequent CD. I have not seen them in concert yet though (6 kids at home, can't always get away) but was sooooo happy to see this tour date because I am going to be in the area at that time. I am bringing my two teenagers with me and am literally counting the days down until it is time. I am a little nervous too because they are not on the website yet, but I assume it has just not been updated yet because I see it on the LH website.

Anyway, after much jumping up and down and screaming when I found out I would finally get to see the boys live, I started making my plans....of course, as Tom Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part..."

You are welcome. This is one of the events I'm thinking of going to. Trying to work out visiting family nearby at the same time. Will know within the next week or so if it is going to come together.

Glad to see you coming out of lurk mode. It took me several months of reading to post. Now this board feels like home to me. So welcome and hope to see you posting more so we can share the Marty/LH love and get to know you better!
