How can I find out a bit more about the Wicker Park Festival? I'm considering driving down from Toronto for the show and I'd be by myself. So I'm curious about what type of a crowd and is it an outdoor thing. Also, what is that neighbourhood like? I found a B&B that is within walking distance and if I get a thumbs up from Chicago folks, I might just do the crazy thing and drive down on Saturday morning early and then come back on Sunday. I've never been to Chicago, so it's a bit intimidating. But, of course, worth it if I get to see Marty for a second time. Who knows when they will tour again... Thanks for your help everyone!!

Thks chk. I did google it a couple of weeks ago and found a Chicago Tribune link - it mentioned the Guinness Oyster Festival and didn't have a lot of info. It must be the link you gave me here, which didn't work for some reason. I'll try it again later. I don't know why I'm so worried. I usually don't have big issues about being alone. In fact, it bugs me that I have to even worry at all about being out late at night. Well, at least in Toronto. I went to the Lee's Palace show alone and also was alone for the trip to the bar and back after the show and I got to my B&B at 3 am!! I feel safe in Toronto. Lots of people have compared Toronto to Chicago - and now after your comment I feel much better about making the trip. A question - probably a dumb one from a Canuck here, but what's the deal about the South Side? Is it a rough area? Maybe that just in the movies. Marty's from there, isn't he? I remember his comment to Dave/INXS about HMBOMT and getting beat up if he would have sung that on the South Side? I loved it when he said that - it's one of my favourite Marty moments!!

The south side is considered more of a working class neighborhood vs. white collar. Here's a nice Wicker Park site. www.wickerparkbucktown.com/

Thanks for the link, Kari. I'm really going to try to make this Chicago trip happen. Maybe I'll check with other Toronto Hammerheads to see if anybody else is driving down. I can't afford to fly. In case it doesn't work out, is there any news about Lovehammers shows after HammerJam?

I'm driving in from Detroit and have been having problems coming up with information about this event too. I just booked a hotel room for the weekend and now would like to know if anyone could give me any information of where to go while i'm there. Plus, does anyone know if there will be a meet and greet or party after the show? Also, where do you buy tickets for this? Do you get them at the gate? Sorry, i know there's so many questions.

Hi rhianna! The only information that I have about this show is what is posted here: metromix.chicagotribune.com/events/festivals/summer/34814,1,2486930.event Having said that, it looks to be just like all of the other outdoor fests in Chicago. You just show up, pay your $ and get your hand stamped. You should be able to just take a cab from your hotel to the corner of Division and Wolcott. It seems like the guys rarely announce in advance whether there will be a M&G or not. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Hope this helps.

Division & Wolcott? Gee! What familiar Hammer territory.
