Thought I would post a DJ Poll here in case you change your mind about what decade(s) of rock do you most want to hear the DJ play during Hammercruise? I added a couple of others too!! HTH

How about some INXS music, especially those tunes Marty was singing on RS (I believe it was "One" and "Suicide Blonde")?

Wow...I am the first to pick "mix". I really can't say there is one decade that I would pick. I think it is easier to pick Genre over time frame.

According to my Ipod my genre of choice is Rock. The Lovehammers are included in the Alternative, Alternative & Punk, Pop and Rock...I thought that was interesting. I can't really pick a sub-genre of rock. As hard as I have tried I can't narrow that down. I like feel good rock and roll music...that makes you move. Not a big fan of Country music but do enjoy those that have a strong rock influence. Definitely not the twang or the ultra sappy songs. If I want to cry I can watch Lifetime ;D Salsa/Swing...great to dance to but not something I listen to. Metal...used to love to headbang but now I get a little lightheaded if I do.

Country music but do enjoy those that have a strong rock influence. Definitely not the twang or the ultra sappy songs. ;D I'm going to take a stab at my definition of sub genre of rock I feel (in my body) as soon as the orchestra/choir component is added, with the basic R & R instruments ie: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Luciano Pavarotti & Brian Addams. then this becomes a sub genre of rock music. I find myself sitting down and just wanting to take in the whole experience of listening to a Story Teller sharing a spirit. Does this make sense Swing could be classified as a sub genre to rock, IMHO, just because this music was a pre style of music allowing the hips to move, foot tap, head bop movement.... As you said 'I like feel good rock and roll music...that makes you move. I better stop here We'll have Stiletto here telling me I'm getting too philosophical ;D Next time you can set up the Poll for Music

I am sorry Trees if I said something to offend you. First let me say that the time, work and creativity everyone brings here is wonderful. That is what brings me back everyday. I will admit that I have probably put too much thought into this question. There is so many songs I like (spanning several decades) I just can't pick one. I assume since we all love MCLH that we all have similar taste in music. Star couldn't have said it better. I am looking forward to having a great night and listening to some great music.

I chose the fifties............love that era.........besides.......being on a riverboat would bring me back in time...........hearing 50's music would just seem so fitting to me.............plus........it would be a sharp contrast to the Lovehammers music..................and I think I would enjoy the show all the more because of it.
I also think it would be cool to have everyone dancing to fifties music.............he he..........
Yes Trees.........way too philosophical..............lol

Time for the DJ to put in a word or two, as I just found out about the poll here on MC.org.
Working with the organizers, there are some things that will NOT be played for certain and in general what WILL be played is ROCK music. They have left me fairly broad discretion, otherwise.
The first poll that went up at LH.com was divided into "time frames" because a large amount of the CD's that I have available happened to have been recorded that way. Really! I am keeping an open mind in many ways and I *may* elect to play CD's that participants bring along HOWEVER I do reserve the right to preview anything like this and if it is beyond a certain line in the "obscene, offensive, indecent or not-appropriate" department I *WILL* refuse to play it. This is again as per my agreement with the event organizers and to be clear on this point, it is a *mutual* agreement.
As for playing anything by Lovehammers while I DJ, that will be up to THEM. As the featured performers they will have a setlist plus possible additional material and if they tell me that I cannot play any or all of their songs during the DJ time I will respect that. As for material that was done on RockstarINXS or in any way related to that I do not feel comfortable playing this without permission either from the band, their management or the producers of the show. That could easily be considered a violation of copyrights and I'm not about to put either myself or the event organizers in jeopardy by such a violation.
Sorry if some of that comes off kinda harda** but there are rules I gotta play by. There's no way to dance around these issues without stepping on a few toes so I'm just being up-front about it. I will also post this over at LH.com in order to treat everyone fairly with the same information.
