I feel compelled to write about my very first LH show. It has been an absolutely amazing experience. And the best part was meeting so many fans face to face. Now I must say that having waited and read other reviews, I never could comprehend why people said that they could not remember details like the Set List or take pictures. Now I know. So I will leave the pictures and those details to others. And I would like to share my experience.
Friday night was Meet and Greet for the fans. As you all know, I am not a huge poster. My numbers are small. However, at the event everyone knew Bostongirl and made me feel like they had known me for 100 years. I am at a loss of words at the moment at how welcome and comfortable everyone made me feel. Dawn (clean4me) organized the event with some help from others. Thank you, Dawn. By the end of the evening, I felt like I was at a family reunion. And everyone was so excited and wanting to make this the best first show for me. That warmth and support was overwhelming.
Ok, now the main event, HC. WOW…..did I fail to mention WOW…..we get onto the boat and walk up a set of stairs into a large event room in the boat. There at the far end of the room was the stage and Marty, Dino, Billy, and Bobby playing. It was as if they were greeting all their fans. It was surreal. (they were actually late, finishing up sound check, but let’s pretend that they did it on purpose because it was amazing). We walk toward them, and people start to fan out left, front, center. I find myself exactly in the center in front of Marty with about 4 people in front of me. Did I mention that I am only 4”10”. Now this literally blew me out of the water. Because I had met everyone the night before, people started open a path for me to move towards the front to be able to see. Within a minute, I was front and center with Marty Casey just a few feet in front of me singing. I think it was Clouds and this was still sound check. But back to the fans. I want to thank each and every person who stepped aside and nudged me to the front. For the entire show, the only thing that was visible to me was the band. Thank you for making that experience so perfect. I will always remember that generosity.
Marty – black vest, black shirt, back t-shirt, white pants, white belt, long, long hair. Beautiful, beautiful. And then he smiled. I think the boat swayed at that very moment. Could not possibly have been me lol. He was mellow, ready, and joking around a lot.
Billy – happy, relaxed, smiling. This man’s deep soul and love for his work pours out of every inch of his body. Amazing, amazing.
Dino – hair was layered, in his face, in a good way (you will see the pictures), happy, playful, and ready to rock. Did the bandana thing in his hair later.
Bobby – no picture can give that man justice.
They played some very old songs, Starlight Lady, Counterfeit, Summertime in the City. Someone said that they would post the Set List, so I won’t even try to remember. Marty was very playful with Summmertime. It was really fun to hear it. They also did Ultrasound. Marty challenged the band to play it with a Caribbean twist. Said he would buy the beer (which I am quite sure he did not, but that is another story). They came thru and it was fun and very different. Marty’s voice was the best that I have heard from all the Utube, and DVDs. It was gentle, it was powerful and strong, without screaming. Awesome to be there.
The stage was really small and we were on a moving boat, so the guys did sit through most of the songs. Marty did need to move around at times. At one point he went out into the middle of the crowd and just jumped with everyone. This was a very close and intimate setting. I think Nancy D, HY, myself and others were no more than 6 ft from the guys. We did SAAA and of course all participated. That was my first time having a mic shoved in my face. I can report that although I can not sing on key, I was brave and sang loud and strong lol. I think they played for about 2 and ½ hours.
They took a break for only about 15 minutes. And then Marty came back on stage and sang 2 new songs alone. I am not sure that he even told us the title, they both were really sad, but hopeful. But I am sure others will have more to say and may have another opinion. Again, his voice was really strong. I really loved just sitting and watching this man sing playing his guitar. Oh, I did fail to mention that at one point T-Bone tapped me on the shoulder and had brought a chair for me to sit on. Yup. And was smiling and joking a lot. He made me swear not to tell anyone that he was really sweet. So don’t tell anyone.
After the show, Marty came and stood 2 feet from me. I had no choice but to go up and introduce myself. We talked about nothing and then someone took a picture of us. Please, please whoever that was will you PM it to me. Thanks. I stayed and took pictures for many other fans. I was really impressed at how much time he took with everyone. I also had the chance to meet Billy. What a wonderful man.
When we left the boat the guys came out front after a little while and mingled, took more pictures with the fans. Marty then announced that we were off the a bar on 4th street. We went, I saw him again. The bar was packed and I did not stay. So I will let someone else pick up from here with the story.
Other songs that I can remember: Hold on, Trees, Undertow, Better Off, This Town, Sleeper (OMG !!!!), Low Life, Tunnel, Eyes, Riddle, Clinic, Call of Distress. If I got any wrong sorry. 2.5 hrs was a lot of songs.
I think most stayed up most of the night and then needed to head home. I am here till morning. So I hope picture some soon for you all. And I want to see them to relive the evening.
And that is my story. No longer a virgin.

Sorry - I know this is hard to understand, but i did not take pictures. I did not want to miss one second of this experience playing with a camera. And there were many, many cameras going off behind me.

Ok - I forgot to tell you. This is someone else's story so I am sure you will here it again. After the show, we are outside and Marty is chatting and taking pictures with the ladies. He was talking to a woman - I would guess early 20s. Nice, sweet. He talked to someone else, then came turn back to her, leaned over and gave her the most gentle, soft kiss on her lips. Everyone gasped. And Marty just had this really nice, sweet look on his face. THere was a moment of silence when it happened. The girl was frozen for a few minutes. But a really big smile. It was one of those gentle, precious, sweet moments. I was about 4 ft away, but did not here the conversation.

bostongirl! Your whole review has been fabulous, but that last story .... Thanks so so much for sharing that. I do not find it odd that you didn't take pictures. I also wanted to experience my first concert without looking through a camera, and I'm still glad that I did. I wish I had gotten a photo of me with Marty, but maybe one day .... Thanks again for the wonderful review!
