Part 14

"Wait...what?" Mikayla asked in shock.
"Are you cheating?"
"With who?"
"Dino."

Mikayla looked at him and said, "I think you're starting to get a little bit wasted, babe."
"No no. I'm serious."

Mikayla sighed and said, "What makes you think that I'm cheating?"
"Just by the way you've been hanging around him, that's all."

Mikayla had been hanging around Dino a lot. Marty had been so busy with appearences, rehersals and interviews-both radio and tv- and didn't really have enough time to spend with Mikayla. She had been busy as well, but always found herself having long conversations with Dino during the day and evening about the gigs and about life on the road. The conversations didn't go too far, but for Mikayla, it was nice to have someone to talk to when she needed it. Dino and Mikayla were just good aquaintences and nothing more.

"Marty, I'll be perfectly honest with you before I head out. I'm NOT cheating. The only person I want to be with is you and that's it. Good night," she said, kissing him on the lips and working through the crowd in order to get out of the hotel room.

"Mikayla? Mik?" Dino yelled out, catching up to her. "What the hell happened back there?"
"I need to talk to you," she whispered.
"Shoot. What's it about?"

"He thinks I'm cheating on him."
"Him who? Marty?"
"Yeah."

Dino laughed slightly and said, "Why does he think that?"
"Cuz he's seen us together..."
"Only once! We only had a conversation and now he thinks you're cheating? Damn. He's starting to get some serious issues."

"Yeah no shit, Dino. I think we should quit this."
"What?"
"Quit the whole hanging around thing..."

"Look. Just because Marty said something to you doesn't mean..."
"He didn't say anything. He just thinks that I'm a cheater and I think that we should just not speak to each other for a while. Just to be safe."

Dino glared at her and replied, "You're such a weird, naive chick."
"What?"
"How can you not see that he's so protective of you and only wants you for himself? Huh?"
"He's not protective! Just concerned!"

Dino sighed, muttered a "whatever" and walked back into the hotel room to rejoin the party and slammed the door.

Part 15

The next morning, Mikayla walked out of the hotel room with some of her things and bumped into Marty, who slowly kissed her cheek and held onto her side.

"Hungover, huh?"
He nodded slowly and replied, "Yeah pretty much."

She kissed him back and continued to walk with him down the hall as he muttered something.

"What?" Mikayla asked.
"Nothing. Nothing nothing," Marty replied as they continued to walk. "You didn't cheat on me, right?"

Mikayla stopped and replied, "I didn't cheat, Marty."
"You sure?"

She walked past Dino, who stared at her from the corner of her eye as she continued to walk. She finally managed to say, "I'm sure", and kissed his cheek again.

(Hours later)

Marty walked around the hallway of the bus slowly and quietly. His hangover was finally gone after a long night of partying, and was wondering where everyone was. He looked outside the window and realized that the tourbus had made a pitstop for some much needed air. He stepped outside and closed his eyes, letting the cold winter breeze flow around him as he started to walk inside the waiting area.

He spotted someone near a food stand who looked a lot like Mikayla, who stood next to someone almost quietly who also looked a little like Dino. Marty's calmness started to wear thin when he spotted the two of them kissing each other, and that the two of them were in fact Mikayla and Dino.

Part 16

She remembered the fighting, the yelling back and fourth, and the words "it's over" were still ringing in her ears. Mikayla had made a mistake...and she didn't know who to blame. Except herself.
I never should have gotten too close to Dino, she thought, I shouldn't have done anything at all.

She could probably hear Dino and Marty going at it right now downstairs both physically and verbally--all this over her.

"What the f**k did I do?" She thought, holding her head in her hands and waiting for the tears to flow.

Hours later, she started to pack her things and started to leave the hotel, thinking that it would be better that way if she left the tour indefinitely.

As she approached the lobby to check out, she spotted a solemn Marty, who stared at her and replied, "We need to talk."

Part 17

"What's to talk about?" Mikayla asked, gripping onto her things. "You're the one that said it was over, Marty."
"But I'd still like to talk to you. Please."

She sighed and walked with him towards some of the empty seats in the lobby and sat down, while he rubbed his eyes and didn't even face her.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Marty asked.
"I don't..."
"Yeah, you don't know. I knew you were going to say that."
"It was unexpected, okay? All we did before the kiss was share a few conversations and..."

Marty sighed and rubbed his eyes.

"I don't even want to go there," Marty said.
"Marty...I'm sorry. Seriously. It was my fault for letting me get close to him..."
"Look. I don't mind having you hang out with the rest of the guys. Or Dino. But the fact that you went behind my back and lied about it was just wrong."

Mikayla lowered her gaze and muttered, "I know."
"Mik. I love you. But I'm just really upset that you made up this atrocious lie."
"C'mon. It wasn't that atrocious."
"It was still a lie. Either way, I'm forgiving you for it because I'm that type of guy. And I don't want you pulling shit like that again."

"Whatever."
"No whatever. Don't do any of those two again. All right?"

Mikayla nodded and felt him wrap his arms around her in an embrace.

Part 18

"What'd you say to him?"

Dino glanced over at Mikayla and asked, "What?"

"What did Marty say to you?"

Dino shrugged and replied, "We just argued, basically. I mean, it's common for us to argue. But over you? That was different."
"But...what did..."
"You know. The usual. The basic 'you sonofa' this and 'you bastard' that. Then it was done. I don't think we'll speak about that for a while."
"Well, he forgave me."
"Really? Took you back too, right?"

She nodded.

Dino shrugged again and replied, "It's because he still cares about ya. He doesn't want you to get hurt again like the last time with Billy. That's why."

"Yeah. I guess he does."

Dino glanced at her bags and replied, "Goin somewhere?"
"I was gonna leave. But I guess that's not gonna happen any time soon."
