Thanks, Dustyblue! Today has been straight from the land down under, and I don't mean Australia. I realized that one of the kids has stolen another one of my personal effects from the classroom...and I took this really personally. It just hit me completely wrong, and I let them know it too. While I was driving this afternoon, in an effort to cool off and calm down, the concept of this avvie & this wallpaper came to me. Oh, that just sucks. When I was a teacher at an alternative school, one day while I was out, the kids *cleaned out* my desk of all the supplies that I had bought with my own money (because we didn't get any from the county) *while* a sub was there! I was so hurt and disappointed. So, I can sympathize with you. Yes, they can be little stinkers. If you didn't see where I posted it in another thread (can't remember which one) a good kid said they thought they saw the effect (a little matted, framed piece of artwork) in the boys locker room. He went to fetch it and told me I wasn't going to like what they did to it...which was followed by much begging for me not to tell the basketball coach because they would all have to run laps. The frame was gone. A 5x7...they could have kept it for a photo. Generic wood frame...untraceable...virtually anyways. They poked holes in the mat, ripped the bottoom part of the artwork off, blacked out the words "The Future" with an ink pen, and wrote "ME!!!" under the top of the art which read "Teachers Touch". Aren't they mature? Oh well, most of my good ones have agreed the majority of this is first year hazing. Although some say they do it to all the English teachers. They won't do it when they get to be seniors. That one was my senior English teacher and she doesn't take crud off of the kids. If students could really shoot daggers out of their eyes, I'd be dead today. I gave back some more of the research papers. One tried to argue with me that he followed my instructions to the letter. He didn't have one parenthetical citation in sight. I told him that equals plagiarism plain and simple. Hence the generous F I gave him for the format grade...since it was a rough draft...it should have been a zero. Thanks for your thoughts.
