Thanks for posting that link, Chifan! They've totally won over a fan of the other version of LA Guns! That's a big accomplishment. OK, I'm going to just write from the top of my head about each show. Louisville--what a great, great show!!!! We had some doubts about the venue when we first got there. The building looked like a giant quonset hut or a former airplane hanger, but once we got in there and heard the sound, it had the best sound of any show I've seen so far this tour. We looked up, and saw there was acoustic treatment sprayed all over the ceiling and walls. That cut down on excess bouncing of sound, which keeps the sound cleaner. The front doors were like big garage doors, and they were open to the patio area. The stage was at the far end, so you could see and hear the show even if you were outside on the patio. I think there were at least 300-400 people at the show, including 10 or 12 Hammerheads. There was a family with 2 kids there, and the parents were wearing their "Get Live" shirts. The kids were so excited to be there--cute!!! The stage was quite high, almost chest level on me. That will give a different look to the photos. The band hit the stage ready to rock hard. Marty's stage presence was so commanding, and even more intense than ever. They all were attacking the music with abandon, and showed "No Mercy". Yet the sound was so clean that I was able to take out my earplugs for the second half of the show. Like I said in my earlier post, this was one of the most intense concert experiences I've ever had. I'm not a swooning girlie type, but the intensity was bowling me over that night, to the point where I felt like I might pass out. They are all playing off each other, and it builds and builds. Marty and Tracii especially have great chemistry, and they are both so extraordinary at what they do. Watching them spur each other on to greater heights is so exciting! Jeremy is like an animal on that bass--it's like watching a big cat take down an antelope. Frightening, but you can't keep from watching, and marvelling at the predatory power and grace. He's really grown up a lot since I saw him playing guitar at a few of the LH shows in 2006. Al is almost a sly presence with his stealthy haircut and wicked glances from under his hair, while he tears it up on guitar. Chad really kicks it in his own style, which totally suits the music, plus he is also a good singer, and sings a lot. Al and Jeremy also sing well, and provide harmonies and backing that add a lot to the songs. This band is making the LA Guns back catalog sound new and fresh. They bring the songs into today's world, rather than trying to recreate the '80's. Just like Marty did with songs on the TV show, he's making these songs his own, while also respecting them. It's easy to understand why Tracii is smiling so much during each show--he's digging this, too! What a thrill it must be for him to hear and see Marty putting every ounce of his talent into the songs that he (Tracii) knows so well. They played for around an hour and a half, and I still didn't want it to end! Then those of us who went outside to talk with Marty after their show had the true privilege of getting to sit and talk with him all through the next set, and all during the teardown. He is so smart, and has such an interesting mind. It was a joy to get to do that. All around, really a fantastic night! I'm so glad we went! Oh, I also need to add a special word of appreciation for the crowd. There were all kinds of people there, but no one made any trouble with each other. On the surface, it looked like there could have been clashes between the redneck-looking folks and the totally decked out rock folks, but everyone just hung loose and had a good time together.
