Just starting a thread for those in Cali. Making sure that all is well. My place shook pretty bad, but no damage. Called my family and they are all well too.
Blue, Bubbles, CJ,JB... are all you alright in Cali?

Thanks for checking in Star! I'm fine. Scary for a few moments but no damage. A good reminder to update the earthquake kit though! Hope everyone else is okay too! Always makes we want to sing a little Carole King. "I feel the earth move under my feet! . . ."

Alright... just checked the house (while calm this time) and we have small superficial damages to the bedroom. A small thin crack is running from the doorway up to the ceiling, across the room, to the other way and down next to the other window. That isn't too bad. It can be patched up and repainted if anything.

Thanks for checking, Star. Thankfully you only had minor damage. All is well here. It was just a rolling motion that lasted about 15-20 seconds. I'm about an 1 1/2 north of there so it wasn't so bad. Happy to hear everyone is ok.

I haven't heard about this all day! All of you had better be ok or else I'm coming down to Cali and making sure everyone is better! No worrying GP, remember, she has a scary temper and a wild imagination!
Please stay safe! For me!
Love all of you!

Yup... where I am in Los Angeles at the moment is about 31 miles from Chino Hills. Yahoo map shows that it is only a 36 min drive from me. I don't know, but we felt it hard here.
Good to hear that you are alright Bubbles, and that your family is fine too Jilly.
Everyone I would like to thank you for all your concern. Let me say on behalf of everyone here, that all your heartfelt thoughts and well wishes for all of us in Cali are greatly appreciated.

Thank you Iwo and Boston. It was a 5.4 Earthquake whose epicenter was 8 miles under Chino Hills. They believe it was the Whittier Narrows Fault Line or system of fault lines. It felt like it lasted about 15 to 20 seconds as Bubbles stated.
The damage wasn't bad (Thank God), since we are pretty much Earthquake minded when it comes to building construction, codes and preparedness in California. And, it wasn't too strong for us on the scale system. However, when the shaking starts (no matter how big or small) it can scare the poop out of a person, and it can do damage still (if not physically but emotionally).
I for one hate Earthquakes... born and raised here... been through many small and bigger ones during my life.... still can't get use to it.

Thanks Rachael. Your always so sweet I am happy to hear that your Aunt is well. So far no aftershocks... that is a good sign. Hopefully, we wouldn't need to bump up this thread or start a new one any time soon. No more earthquakes would be just fine with me!
