Hi Marty,
Kenny Chesney (country guy) has a tour called Poets and Pirates right now and the thought of the two- "Poets and Pirates", made me think of you and the guys.
Its an interesting duality I think only the true entertainers can pull off. Do you consider yourself more of a Poet or a Pirate? What about the rest of the guys, where do they fall?
I definitely see both sides in you:
Your lyrics are brilliantly poetic, your stage presence is poetry in motion and even the way your eyes seem to penetrate your audience's soul could be considered poetic.
Your new band of brothers are definitely pirates on permanent vacation who are teaching you and everyone else who has the pleasure to see you LIVE that you are pirates out on a wild adventure!
Hope to see you in Chillicothe!
Best, Adrienne

Hi Adrienne,
We do call the tour bus the "Pirate Ship" and it definitely feels like we are on a big adventure. I have never been on a tour with this consistent number of dates. It feels like you get 1 night off every 10 days or so.
It's challenging to have a big change like this opportunity to sing with the Guns and meet a big group of musicians. When you are in your 30's, most people have a most stable life with a consistent job, family and a crue of friends. I am sure some future songs will be created as a result of taking on this journey. I guess that is where the poetry comes into the lyrics. You try to tell stories about what is going on in your life. All in an effort to learn about yourself and document the life you have lived. Continuing the pirate journey thru life.
Marty
