Hubby and I have been having some mixed emotions about the Olympics. I hate the violation of the human rights of the Chinese Nationals , But Rob has a good point, Lets show our support for our American athletes that have busted their booties their whole lives to make us Proud! I look forward each Summer Sessions. Swimming, Volleyball and Track. USA USA USA........and CANADA TOO !! anyone else going to watch? Or have any thoughts about the whole event?  |

I heard the opening ceremonies were Awesome. I am going to check it out tonight. I hope it's as good as they are saying. |

I'll probably watch bits & pieces of it. I'm going to try to catch some of the opening ceremony tonight and I hope to see some of the gymnastics.

I think the opening ceremony was breathtaking!!  If I were Chinese or Buddhist I would have been super proud, they were presented so well in the imagery and thought. It was gorgeous .Very nice job!  |

That is really pathetic, and I feel for that little girl who got passed over. Americans are the most guilty of shallowness when it comes to looks though so I can't diss someone else for that, but again she is just a little kid!! I am still watching and it is to support our North American athletes. They are similar to our soldiers in a sense in that they have dedicated their skills to honor their respective countries. I think that it Amazing!!! and commendable. Locally on our news here they did a story about how after each Olympic event the Y's memberships go up for swimming lessons as well as gymnastics and I think that also is commendable. I think If Michael Phelps is an inspiration to young men who want to pursue competitive swimming rather than be a rap star.I say more power to them. I get a little worried that the kids of today are not patriotic at all. Growing up our family always watched each Winter and Summer games to cheer USA. Now I cannot find any relative under 30 who gives a rats a** ,how sad?  I think the way the event is seen this year and how upsetting the choice to have the games in China has been I wonder if there will be anything like this continuing in the future?If there such a "perfect" place to have the event where would it be? that's my opinion anyway. I know not everyone shares it and it's okay by me |

I don't think it matters what age I am..........the athletes always inspire me.......win or lose they all represent hard work, determination, dedication, and perseverance..........they and their families make great sacrifices along the way and I think they set a good example for the youngsters.
The thing with the little girl makes me want to puke..........
What a shallow, often fake and materialistic world we live in.

Oh yes! they are all very inspiring. I would love to hear more of each athletes back story of how they got to China and what drives them etc etc. I was especially moved by Dara Torres' story of how at 41 she is competing with women half her age!  Did you see her body? I would kill for a body like that!! She wasn't going to let her age hold her back. That is so cool. I haven't heard how she is doing in the swim meets ? It's hard to keep up with it all since it's on at weird hours all day and night.  I love it all. To me it's a non-violent way to bring everyone together.  you can't go wrong there!! I hope others will take some time to catch some of it if they get a chance. |

Last night I was watching the closing ceremony and I thought it was awsome  And USA has more metal counts of the Summer Olympics USA has 110 metal counts. I could not wait for 2012 Summer Olympics the 2012 Summer Olympics will be at London. I think that The Olympics will and might be at 2016 Olympics might be at Chicago, IL.
