I love the Arboretum. I haven't been there in a few years. More than a few, now that I think about it. So....who all is going and what time are you getting there? [/IMG]
Hi, Angie. I'll probably go early - haven't been in a couple of months and we want to walk around before the event. I'm not sure what will be happening during the "signing" portion, but I don't think the 'mini-concert' starts until 5:30. You'll love the new visitor center - it's a really cool place now. The store's larger and there's an enclosed hall where I'm assuming Marty will play.

I think this might be the perfect show for me to come out to again-- and for Isaac to finally meet you all?

Looks like I will be coming up for this!!! I wanted to go, but I saw that airfare was outrageous. My sister wanted to go, but she can't drive all the way to Chicago from Kansas City by herself after her stroke, so she and I decided that I will drive up to KC and we'll go to Chicago from there. YAY! This will also give me a chance to see some of my Chicago friends and catch up with them without being interrupted by people wanting to buy a t-shirt! Hope to see some of you there! This is gonna be great! A chance to see Marty solo AND a chance to see him perform without having to work (which only happened TWICE this summer).

I can't believe how longs it's been since I have gone there. We used to bring the kiddo there a lot when she was small. What time does bee want us to be there? heeheee! Miss you, Miss E! She is ready to go now. She is still not happy that she did not get to see any LAG shows. lol Really? <----after the show. Frank will take the kiddo home & then I can go out to play. I think this might be the perfect show for me to come out to again-- and for Isaac to finally meet you all? Mel!! I cannot wait to meet Isaac. I bet he is growing so fast. And I wouldn't mind seeing his mama, either. It has been way too long since Hard Rock. Oh, and Lisa will be there, too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It will be great to meet you, rockerlee and to see everyone else again. Can't wait!

I am so sad that I will miss seeing all of you at this show. I will be in Michigan at my cousin's wedding. She really should have checked with mc.org before planning her wedding. Sheesh. Big hugs to 7 and lil' Isaac!

Yell really loud and give Marty a North Carolina fangirl hug from me, too, OK?!

Where will you be staying while you're in Chicago?
The Arboretum is about 25-30 miles west of downtown Chicago - so it will depend on the amount of time you have to sightsee.
If you're staying near the Arboretum, in Lisle, then I would suggest visiting downtown Naperville - it's not far and they have a really nice Riverwalk near there. Naperville is where LH played the Last Fling in 2006.

I'd like to experience some Real Chicago! Thank You so much for any feedback! I look forward to seeing you at the show! I I look forward to seeing you at the show Food: Portillo's Hot Dogs (many locations around town) is good for a great Chicago dog. Yummy! Pizza places: Pizzeria Uno or Due (same owners), or Gino's East are excellent choices. Check out Millenium Park and Grant Park to see not only some specatcular park design, but the buildings surrounding them have some of the most stunning architecture in the world. Chicago is known for its architectural treasures. In Millenium Park, you can stand in front of "The Bean" and take a self-portrait photo, with amusing results. ;D Of course, you have got to visit the lake. Some great spots to see it are: Oak Street Beach--Lake in front of you, high rises behind you, with the waves lapping at your feet. You can't get that just anywhere! Adler Planetarium--Go out onto the peninsula that Adler is on, and look back at the city. That's where so many skyline pics are taken. It's especially dramatic at sunset or at night. Navy Pier--Go all the way to the end, by the ballroom. You can stand there looking at the gorgeous old-time ballroom, with the lake in the background, and you can almost see the dancers from the big band era swirling around the floor, and walking the promenade outside. For a vibrant and hip scene, check out the Wicker Park neighborhood, located in the vicinity of Milwaukee, Damen, and Division. Lots of amazing shops and restaurants. I also suggest going to a large bookstore and picking up a Chicago city guide of some sort. Flip through that and look for whatever categories particulary interest you (museums, historical sites, art galleries, etc.) This city really does have something for everyone. Morton Arboretum is one of the most notable green spaces in the area, so you've got that one covered already. (Did I mention that I love Chicago?! ) Have a great time enjoying the city!

Here's an idea for later on Saturday night--Jessica Robinson (from RS:INXS and a Chicago native) and her band Covergurl are playing at Joe's at 10 PM.
Anyone up for going to that?
