Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world and it is possible to buy a huge variety of animals, ranging from large cats to monkeys, turtles, crocodiles and parrots. Animal rights are more or less non-existent. They are protected by law but it is very rarely enforced. Some are bought as pets when they are young for wealthy Quitenos, but as they grow the owners find that they cannot cope with them in the house and what was at first a cuddly cub has turned into a powerful killing machine. Marty might surprise us and bring home a new pet...

About post #72... I wonder if Marty has introduced them to pomegranates??? They make delicious juice! Ask my friend, Jorge... Jorge: Si senorita! But I can't wait for the juice, I have to dive right in! Jorge may very well be related to Titi. I see a slight resemblance... Titi: Ay ay ay!!! I am much more beautiful than Jorge. He keeps forgetting to wear his bib!! What a mess. I could not possibly be related to him. The Callicebus (Titi) tamarin monkey likes insects and ripe, sweet fruit.Oh, okay. Sorry Titi. My bad. Surely, it's my pal, Luis, that I'm thinking of. Luis: Listen up. Jorge, my bumbling cousin, will forever be my embarrassment. He won't put on a tux like me for our Saturday night nut festival. The nerve!! And I am honorary nut captain!! White-throated Cebus capucinus, or capuchin monkey ... also eat insects and ripe fruit. Capuchins are a noisy bunch. Their manual dexterity allows them to open and eat nuts.

Extinct Volcán Chimborazo: the farthest point from the center of the earth. Sally Lightfoot Crabs hanging on tight, Galápagos Islands Hmmmm... I wonder how a crab gets named Sally Lightfoot? ???Maybe the same way a spider gets named after Stephen Colbert. On a serious note, the Galapagos Islands would be an incredible place to visit.
