this summer has also been a very big summer for me... musically speaking. I was able to go to 6 live shows. The first show was martys accoustic set in cleveland at the roc bar on may 9th. that was an amazing show for me since it was the first time i ever met marty or seen him live. it was surreal that i was awake for the whole 2 1/2 hour ride home at like 1 a.m. even though i had almost been up for 24 hours.
the next show i went to was to see a band called The Fold. they are a band from Chicago. Their lead singer is really nice. me and my friend rachel got to meet him after the show. He seemed very surprised when we asked if he knew who the lovehammers were. He was like i didnt know anyone outside of chicago knew who they were! me and rachel looked at him and were like there are a ton of people all over the country who know who they are! that was a very good show. the fold rocked the house that night. the opening bands were very good. One that stuck out of me was The Great Transperancy. they are amazing! and really nice guys. this show was on may 28th.
the next show i went to was edison glass. this was on july 21st and i was dying for a show! it had been about 2 months since the last one and it couldnt have been a better night. Even though i went to see Edison Glass, i ended up seeing this AMAZING band called Atoms Inception. This was their first live show EVER. i was completly blown away. They seemed like they had been playing forever and you couldnt tell they were nervous at all. I ended up meeting and talking to their lead singer Kyle. he is so sweet and amazing. i ended up buying their cd that night which i still listen to religously! they stole the show for me that night. no one was better then them. the whole crowd was completly focused on the stage while they were playing. there was a bigger crowd for them then there was for Edison Glass.
the next show i went to was on August 4th. I went to see this amazing band called OURS. Their lead singer jimmy has to have one of the most amazing voices i have ever heard in my life! he can hit notes most women cant even hit. His presence on stage is unbelievable. you could just feel the love coming off the stage. and luckily for me this is the only show of the whole summer that i was front row like one foot to the left of the microphone. i had the best view of the stage and of him. it was so amazing. i have never felt so much love going around a room before. It was very hot and everyone was all sweaty and sticky but it didnt matter we were becoming one with the music. it was a very big night of healing for me. i had a rough summer and it seemed like with every lyric of each song i let more and more of it go and i was becoming whole again.
The next show i went to was on August 8th. i went and saw atoms inception for their 2nd live show ever. it was just as great as the first night. and me and rachel were actually lucky enough to catch kyle after the show and say high and just chat. he really is a nice guy and he was very excited to see us and was wondering if we made it in time for their set since they were the first band up and rachel had to work till 7 and the show started at 8 but with columbus traffic you never know how long its gonna take. but we made it and got into the building by 7:50. just in time.
The very last show of my summer was August 11th. This has to be hands down the best night of my life. I was able to go and see Marty with LAG for the first time of the summer. Well it was the only show i could make so of course i was gonna go. I got some very awesome memories that will last a life time. i will never forget that night. It was the best way to end the summer for me.
so all in all my summer had its ups and downs.... but my music was always there. When life was going wrong, it stood by my side. even when i felt like no one was there for me i would turn on my music and it would make me feel so much better. like it was my best friend that i knew for years and could spill my heart out to.
