Steph- Tell Me Please is a really great piece. It instantly made me think of my Mom. I sometimes wonder if she has any idea how much i still think of her. It was sweet to read something that immediately had her image pop ito my head. thanks. Blue - What i love about the art is that people interepret based on their own circumstances and experiences. Monsters Under the Bed gave me pause. thanks. I love this place

Thank you Boston I should be posting another new one soon... I am just working on making my son his Halloween costume. It is his first year of school and he is looking forward to joining in on the activities at his school. He wanted to be a fish, but changed his mind to a seahorse ( from his favorite book 'Mr. Seahorse' by Eric Carle)... I have the materials, so it just I just need to make a new design and then draw a pattern. It's been a while since I have done any major costume construction, so we will see what I remember...LOL

Oh... did I forget to mention that my Mom volunteered to help the class with pumpkin carving... and she decided to volunteer me too... LOL I love carving pumpkins, but I have no idea how we are suppose to do this with 20 kindergarten students. Hopefully, the teacher will let us know before the event day on the 27th.

Wow...carving pumpkins with 20 kindergarterners......that is one ambitious teacher!! You'll have to tell us how it goes. Or better yet, write a poem about it. Their hands were full of seeds and goo; The boys cried, "More!" The girls screamed, Ewww!"....

LOL... You mean if I survive. What exactly is the teacher planning on giving the kids to use to carve those pumpkins? I say painting them would be safer...LOL Right now I have no idea what the teacher is planning on. She just had another parent call my Mom and ask her to help out... so of course my Mom decided that I would love to be involved. I think it is payback for all those things I volunteered her to do when I was my son's age...LMAO
No. Seriously, this should be fun. I just hope that it is organized well so that the kids really get to enjoy what the activity is. Making messes are alright by me... it is part of being a kid.

I know I have mentioned this before. There is a book that has helped me with perspective on occasion. It is titled The Four Agreements. It is a book written by Don Miguel Ruiz and is sort of a "readers digest" version of Toltec philosophy. I hope Mr. Ruiz does not mind a poem about this philosophy. I am reminded of it recently.
Four
Be impeccable with your words For you never know when they are heard Say what you mean, and mean what you say And you will always sleep well at the end of the day
Don’t take things personally For it is never truly about you It’s so easy to get lost in life’s insecurities They’re not really your wounds, you will not bleed
Try not to make assumptions Although very hard to achieve Be brave and ask that difficult question You may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome
Without exception, always do your best But remember not to judge yourself too harsh Your best varies from moment to moment So just keep going and never give in

Little Princess
Sweet beautiful princess I miss you so much How did we end up with this distance between us? Each day that passes seems like an eternity We were meant to be together, you and me
I miss your precious smile that you share with such ease And your happy, happy eyes that always want to please I miss your huge bear hugs that last endlessly And our long talks about life and all the insanity
Baby, I want to hear your voice always bursting with news I want to see you show off those new pair of shoes Tell me the latest drama starring all the girls and the guys And play your newest songs, it always make me cry
I love you more than words can express We need to be together and put my loneliness to rest Shall I come to you or you come to me? Makes no difference, as long as it’s real not merely a dream

Demons
My demons are my constant companions Never wandering far from my thoughts Safely tucked in the corners of gray matter Weaving poisonous threads like the black widow spider
Their little voices constantly whisper from my ear Taking full delight in igniting my fire of fear Turning the heat up to a roaring blaze Until my world fills with doubts’ full haze
My demons have small friends on the outside Who feed off their poison so they can survive Venom dripping from their wide, eager mouths Relishing the sweet taste of fear and doubt
So why do I let these miserable creatures rule? When their intentions are so clearly sinister and cruel My demons and their friends are masters at their craft And often parade through the streets their identities masked
I have learned their tricks and am working without rest And will tame my demons someday I have let them run amuck far too long And will not stop until each one is gone
As for their small friends who feed off of them For sure they will find another demon friend They have no power to stand on their own And will always need to feed from others bones

To Be Continued
How did you come to mean so much? Was it your gentle words or your gentle touch? I can’t imagine my world without you It’s hard to believe that it all came true
You are such an integral part of the puzzle With twists and turns that seem endless And a smile that dazzles the world around me As bright as the stars dancing in the night sky
You came at such an unexpected time When chaos and sadness seemed to be mine And gave me a reason to move forward again We held hands and declared ourselves friends
There is no end to this amazing story So I have no words to jot down Forever this thing between me and you I guess all I can say is, to be continued………

Wow!!! Your creativity came back and then some Boston!!! Great work. I never have tried to herd cats before...LOL I am not worried. I work well with children... and my son's class knows me already. I always wait there at the school play yard in the mornings (until my son goes in the class), and I am there to pick him up after school. The children greet me, and sometimes I bring books to read to my son (on days he doesn't want to play in the heat) and the other children gather to hear me read. It's cute...LOL Besides, I am already scheduled in for the next month with teaching the children arts/crafts. This is an extra bonus

Hey everyone ; I would just like to tell my friend Bostongirl that she never lost her groove . She just needed to recharge her batteries ! Steph ....I loved Tell Me Please . It made me think of my parents . While my dad spent the last 2 months of his life in the hospital , he lost the ability to speak and to write . He would pound his fists on the bed , frustrated because he could not tell me things he needed to . When mom's time came , there were things that wanted to tell my brother but never got to because he got there too late .
Blue.....Monsters Under The Bed I loved because it does not just apply to children , but to those of us adults who lay awake at night worrying over the unknown ...... do we or don't we . Worrying about failing , or about something we have done with good intentions , perhaps a little too often , that we should not have done . It makes us realize just how human and vulnerable we really are .
I believe in all of you who make yourselves vulnerable in this thread . Keep it up , wether you are the seriousminded writer , or the lighthearted one . This is a place to come and feel safe to express yourselves . I would come too if I could express myself like this . Hope to see you here too , Nancy !
You all shine !

This one is from the new book... hum... did I say that? LOL Yup... I am finishing another poetry book. I should have it done within the week... permitting that I ever finish hand sewing my son's costume...LOL
Come
Come here for a moment, And sit by my side.
Weary bones and all... Time has taken it’s toll on my poor old body.
At one time, It was something fierce to behold.
A vision of beauty and grace.
Not to be over looked.
I can still see in my head, All those heads that I made turn when I walked into a room.
Boy... Those were the days.
I had men wishing to hold my hand, And the other girls hating me.
They casted such looks my way... Like daggers.
Still, I was raised a true and proper lady.
I never spoke out of turn, And I did what a lady was taught to do.
I held myself with respect, And manners.
Never once did I do anything wrong.
People talked.
But, my family knew that they raised a right and true girl.
Ah... my bones creek now when I move.
Not the same anymore, Am I.
No, Sir.
That I am not.
The years, Have passed by very fast.
No one comes calling these days, Or asking for my attention.
I have to, Right nearly knock them upside the head to get them to even notice me.
How times have changed....
Well, look at you there.
Your all dressed up, Fancy like.
I bet you have a fine evening planned, And here I have you wasting your time talking to an old lady.
Well, enough of that.
Off you go.... And have a right pretty time and be safe.
Yup... you be safe.
...sigh...
I’ll just sit here for a spell longer, Just to catch my breathe.
Then, I will go back inside my house.
It’s quiet there... Alone.
Sometimes a little too quiet, For my liking.
Yup... I am all alone.
...sigh...
Just me, And my memories.

'Lizzie,' your groove has come back in full force!! Way to go! You were definitely able to bounce between different themes -- well done. I liked all of them....and couldn't help but feel choked up while reading "Little Princess." Valerie -- thank you for your comments! Yes, there are many reasons why adults can lie awake at night.....fear and anxiety about the future, and fear and anxiety caused by painful memories of the past. What comes to mind is a solider who has returned from war, who has to deal with the psychological aftermath that manifests itself in flashbacks and nightmares. Steph -- very nice work. And wow -- another book on the way!! Bravo!
