[ My favourite Christmas special of all time is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! I now love Bumble, the abominable snowman - but I was scared of him back then. Trivia: It's the longest-running holiday special in television history! Go Rudolph!! Go Hermey!! Go Bumble!! I can believe that!! Its one Xmas show that stands the test of time...a true classic!!

Goodnight~Merry Christmas everyone! Looks like I'm the last one to leave an online party too. I always tend to be one of the last to leave. You are not alone here.

Hi Christine! It was pretty wild, and Marty stopped by, too! When you have the time, read through the whole thing for some good laughs with everyone, and interesting comments from Marty.

Better late than never..... After having my computer and/or software completely eat the files for it, I FINALLY got stuff done for the song I referred to earlier. It is titled "A Life Without Music", and it was written specifically for the Kids See Stars project. You should be able to get it at: www.myspace.com/duanemantick.....in the music player. That's of course assuming that some other piece of computer hardware/software doesn't fail as well. Like MySpace choking on it or something like that. Oddly enough, the song started getting written in a laundromat. Another in the list of "odd places/moments to come up with a song". [/IMG] Something hit while thinking about the project and a bunch of emotional stuff just came pouring through my brain. In another tale of the strange, something was telling me to hold off recording it (well aside from the fact that I got a case of writer's block for an ending and a title for the longest time) and then as an "assistant elf" I was present for picking up the acoustic guitar the project got.........and BBE suggested it would be neat to use that to play on the song. [/IMG] And I agreed what a great idea (why didn't I think of that - I coulda had a V8!) so it's me and a Yamaha F335. Some lucky soul is going to get the best Yamaha I have picked up and played in a LONG, LONG time. I may in the future go back and re-record this as it has some glitches in it but I wanted to have it up before the party for Marty (no, I didn't intentionally try and rhyme that ) and was getting ready to convert to mp3 and upload when ALL my edit files got corrupted and trashed, just for this one song so far as I can tell at this point. In the wee hours of the morning after the party was all over, THEN everything seemed to work just fine. Go figure........Murphy? Anyway, hope y'all enjoy it! "A Life Without Music" is Copyright © 2008 Duane Mantick which I know some people find a distasteful concept but if you write a song and don't do stuff like that you can get ripped off. In this case, I am letting "Kids See Stars" use it if they wish for ZERO fee and anyone can listen to it, etc. etc. HH

Duane, I am so sorry for the file eating monster who stopped this from being posted last night. What an amazing song, I think it completes the Christmas "gift" perfectly, as soon as it began, I got goose bumps! It is wonderful to finally hear what you have been working on, thank you so much for sharing this. Also, thank you for all your help and support in making this project special and as Liz mentioned somewhere earlier, putting up with 3 female "elves" blah, blah, blahing all weekend. Merry Christmas to you and Nancy. [/IMG] Modified to add: Even though this has been a wonderful gift for Marty this year, I actually think this gift was not just to Marty, but will touch the children in Chicago that will receive the donations, all the elves (as one of the "elves" I can tell you it is an amazing feeling to have worked on something that is touching so many), and .org itself. It was great to see so many of you come out last night for the party and share some of your time. Amazing how one kind act can spread...

I'm bummed I missed the party. Thank you to the "elves" for hosting and for creating such a wonderful gift to Marty and young musicians!!!! This gift and everyone's generosity really exemplifies the true spirit of the holidays.
Wishing everyone a fantastic holiday! May 2009 bring new opportunities for friendship and prosperity and more laughs along the way!
