Does anyone who lives in a warm climate miss having snow on the ground for Christmas. I was in Mexico a few years back and really felt I needed to see some snow. I guess it all depends on what it was like when you were a kid. We could all use some heat in the midwest. Being a Canadian gal....if we ever had a brown Christmas (as in...dead grass...lol)....I think I'd faint. We get the FULL MEAL CHRISTMAS DEAL here... ...snow...ice...windchill...bone-freezin' temperatures. We've just come outta the -45 C temperatures that hit us with a whallop!! Yes...Canada deals with Celcius...for all you Fahrenheit'ers.....thats about -49!! I was in Mexico many years back....flew outta here on Xmas eve...and lazed in glorious sunshine...with sand btw my toes. It was fantastic!! For those who have never seen/experienced snow...and a White Christmas....it is pretty...crisp, clear sky ...snow twinkling....the crunching beneath your feet....cool cheeks...and fog coming out of your mouth. Laying in the snow making snow angels....tobogganing... ...and this smiley isn't too far off when you shovel by trees.... But...I've seen it all my life.....and just once.... I'd like old Man Winter to look down on my area...and to just say....... "FUGGEDABOUDIT"!!Yep...you read that right!! Old Man Winter just got an Italian accent! ;D

Looks like the gift and party were huge successes! Liz, Nancy, and Janet -- you "elves" did a spectacular job with everything!! I noticed Marty wrote that he is contemplating his '2009: the year of...' statement. I think I'll start a thread for that....

That's a good idea about a thread for "2009--the Year Of..." suggestions! I'll have to get over there and post some. I forgot to tell everyone about something during the party last night, even though I had it on a sticky note attached to the monitor. The posts were flying so fast that my eyeballs couldn't see the sticky note anymore! ;D You can send free e-cards from the photo albums on the Kids See Stars site! Just go into the albums, click on View Albums, choose a photo you'd like to be on the card, and click the option for "Send an e-card". It gives you choices for the type of card, and the background. You enter the address of who you want to send it to, as well as your signature and a text message if you want, and it does the rest. The photo ends up being kind of small on the background, but it's still pretty cool. YOu can preview that card before you send it, too. Here's the addy: kidsseestars.getmycharity.comthen click on Photo Albums in the sidebar on the left.

Duane, I am so sorry for the file eating monster who stopped this from being posted last night. What an amazing song, I think it completes the Christmas "gift" perfectly, as soon as it began, I got goose bumps! It is wonderful to finally hear what you have been working on, thank you so much for sharing this. Also, thank you for all your help and support in making this project special and as Liz mentioned somewhere earlier, putting up with 3 female "elves" blah, blah, blahing all weekend. Merry Christmas to you and Nancy. [/IMG] Modified to add: Even though this has been a wonderful gift for Marty this year, I actually think this gift was not just to Marty, but will touch the children in Chicago that will receive the donations, all the elves (as one of the "elves" I can tell you it is an amazing feeling to have worked on something that is touching so many), and .org itself. It was great to see so many of you come out last night for the party and share some of your time. Amazing how one kind act can spread...
Thanks very much! And, as I mentioned in my post, Murphy is definitely at work, as MySpace choked to death on the file so I gotta go over there and try a "virtual Heimlich Manuever" to get the thing up there. In the meantime, here is another link that did NOT choke on it: www.peaveyt60.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6145"A Life Without Music" is Copyright © 2008 Duane Mantick which I know some people find a distasteful concept but if you write a song and don't do stuff like that you can get ripped off. In this case, I am letting "Kids See Stars" use it if they wish for ZERO fee and anyone can listen to it, etc. etc. This will probably try and come up in QuickTime player, at least it does on my 'pooter. Not sure what will happen if any of you don't have QuickTime........you might post back and let me know; could be useful information. HH

OK - finally got the song operable on MySpace so that link that I posted earlier should work. I went back to profile thinking I probably needed to upload the song again, and surprise - it was just sitting there and STILL showing "processing"...... I figured well, what the heck.........hit the update button and shazzzam! it was in the player. DUH. Star must have made that rum-and-coke real strong during the party! I wish MySpace had some kind of useful help files, and that they hadn't "upgraded" right after I bought "MySpace for Dummies"! HH

I just wanted to say thank you to all the fans who made this such a special Christmas. As Janet said, this gift was so special to Marty, will help beautiful children experience music, and brought us all together. For me the message in the guestbook from Steph and Susie best says it all. If you have a chance go check it out. And I want to thank and acknowledge the many hours that NancyBBe and Ycerney spent side by side with me to make it happen. Including sliding through the slippery side walks of CHicago in frigid weather asking for donations. You guys are the best. It would not have happened without you. The party last night really rocked We will do it again, for sure. I need to practice, I could not keep up with the refresh. I was always grateful when someone quoted.. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to my friends here at the Org. Liz

Duane - That was awesome!!!!!! A rockstar in the making. Look out Nancy Happy to do it and especially if it helps the kids!! As for the other thing my head still fits through doorways as long as they are TALL enough! What was it, somebody said something about a stretch limo? ....and I said it should be one of the Hummer-based ones with the full bar and hot tub? HH

I missed the party, but was honored to be part of this gift. It is an awesome thing Liz, Nancy and Ycerney put together. All your hard work paid off big time with an amazing gift of music for a lot of kids. I can tell by his comments that this really touched Marty's heart.

Hi everyone, Thank you so much for your kind words on the "gift", I can say the "elves" worked very hard to pull this together and make the magic happen, but even with all our work, it wouldn't have happened without your support. I think I can speak for each of us "elves" when I say it was more than worth it to see so much joy come out if it. It is really heartwarming, to see everyone come together as we did the other night and just enjoy each others company in the light of this amazing holiday! And I learned I really need to work on my posting skills, I was lost more than once... but it was fun and reminded me of the old asylum days. Ok, so on to a little business. I wanted to pass on that the "elves" have decided to keep the event open a little while longer, so if you did not get a chance to make a donation or send some equipment in you may still do so. Here is the link to the How to Contribute page: kidsseestars.getmycharity.com/default.asp?page=29303We will let you know when we do a final close, but felt it would be good to hold it off until after the holidays. Happy holidays to my friends here at the org, Janet (YC)

What? You thought you heard all the music? I just posted "To Marty from the World - Christmas 2008" (Copyright © 2008 Duane Mantick) on my Artist MySpace, www.myspace.com/duanemantick. This is a project that was supposed to be for 2007 but let's just say that "stuff happens". Aside from the three "guest stars" who were on RockstarINXS with Marty a number of fans from around the world put in vocal performances; thanks to www.irish-sayings.com and www.omniglot.com for letting me use some phrases from their sites, and kudos to NancyBBE for her help both vocally and being my "sleighbell" expert. Lovehammers fans - the song has something in it for Billy , Bobby and Dino , too. Let's see if you can figure it out....... Merry Christmas, 2008, everybody! HH
