Hi Liz!!!! Thanks for sharing the experience. This is so cool. This is the greatest gift, it's the gift that keeps giving. The children looked like they were really getting into it...it must of sounded like it too! It's great that Marty got to interact with them and teach them somethings as well. He must of had a great time too! Well, thank you once again & also to the other "Elftsters" who made this all possible for everyone. xoxoxo

Thank you again to all the fans and the businesses who donated to the charity. You really did an awesome thing for these kids! Thank you to Marty for his kind and generous spirit in working with the kids that day. There were many happy little faces looking up at him! Thank you to my fellow Elves for all your hard work, and thank you to Duane, the "great big Elf", for lugging around the equipment, setting it up, and helping the kids with the bass. Everyone involved was focused on making it a special day for these kids, and I do believe that it was. Here are more photos from the event! (I'd like to ask everyone to please not crop the kids out of the photos with Marty if you use them elsewhere. The kids deserve to be there. Thanks!) Girls getting into Marty's performance of HMBOMT. The kids' music teacher joined in on the bass. Marty was playing his own guitar. The kids lining up to try out the guitars. The beautiful and great-sounding Yamaha acoustic guitar that your donations helped provide! The kids had a wonderful time with Marty. Oh, I should also mention that the RFK folks said that they'd like to put the vintage harmonica that Valerie donated, which was her dad's, into their auction of items signed by celebrities, after they have a well-known harmonica player sign it. This will bring the total for this project to an even higher amount. Bravo to everyone who was involved with this project! Your kindness has touched these kids' lives in a very real and positive way. You rock, my friends!!!

Nancy, thanks for the fabulous photos. It is so great to see the kids getting into music through the efforts of Association House. And it is so great that due to the efforts of all the "elves" and all the donations that they will be able to continue and hopefully expand their efforts.
You, Liz, Janet and Duane did an awesome job of organizing all of this.
Love everyone grooving to HMBOMT! ;D

Hi Liz ! Thanks for the update . It looks like everyone had a blast ! You , Nancy , Janet and Duane did quite a job with this . My favorite pic is the little girl with the guitar . She's beaming ! Marty , your love of kids shines brightly . Along with the Elves , you have given your gift back to them : the gift of music . You are an amazing human being . Don't ever change . By the way , how was your voice the next day ? I am blown away that the RFK wants to bestow such an honor on the harmonica . I'd love to know who signs it . It has seen it's share of good times and good music . I hope it gets to make more .
Hugs to you all . .......Val

Nancy - Thanks for getting the pics up so quickly, i know how busy you are. They came out just great!!!!! And thank you for posting the news about Val's harmonica. I forgot to mention that in my original post. I also wanted to mention to folks that one of the things that I really love about Rock For Kids is that they retain ownership of the equipment. When the Rock Band music program has runs its course at the Association House, the equipment will then move onto another community house or school in the Chicago area for more kids to enjoy and learn. They will never be sitting in a closet somewhere getting dusty!!!! Thanks again to all the fans for trusting us, and keeping this about music and the kids, in Marty's honor. It has been great working with everyone!!!! Can't wait to tell you what I have in mind for next Christmas. It is going to blow this one out of the water !!!! Love ya all, Liz ps - Promise to work on the video this week. It is a hoot.

Thanks for the updates and pics. What a wonderful day for everyone.
I am glad to here that the instruments will be shared around to different programs for many children to be blessed by this gift. Does life get any better than this?! How awesome!
Cheers, Angela
