Yeah, looking forward to the shows this summer. We'll be making the HOB show, they'll all be great though.

I went with my son and his fiancé. She has been hammered. He said they put on a good show - but thought Marty overdid the scary conductor moves. The show was great - Marty kept telling the crowd to get on their feet, which many did. He went out into the crowd, danced with a couple of kids in the aisle, picked up one little boy who was rocking with his little guitar the entire show and later climbed one of the onstage scaffolds. Enthusiastic crowd, but not as large as I hoped it would have been. I had hoped move Wallflowers fans would have come early and would have heard them. Pics to come later.

Taste of Chicago, 6/28/09. While we were waiting in line to go in, I saw Marty take a moment to come out into the still-empty seating area before everyone got in, and sit down in front with his feet up, looking at the stage and savoring the moment. It was really neat to see he got a chance to do that. This clearly meant a lot to him, and I’m glad that’s another dream come true for him.
I was not having my best day ever. I was feeling ill from the heat and some bad food the day before. I didn’t know about how to get tickets for the reserved area down front until I went over to ask some fans about how they got theirs. When I found out I would have had to go all the way back out of the band shell area, look for a Chicago Tribune booth, I knew that I just didn’t feel up to that. I decided to try to get the best seat I could in the general area, and then I spent the rest of the time before the show being sick in the porta-potty (oh joy…..NOT). :-(
We ended up further back from the stage than I would have liked, and every time I tried to go up the aisle a bit to take a few photos, the security pitbull woman from hell chased me down like I was a dangerous criminal. Geez! I’m sure I was engaging in a far less harmful activity than no doubt was going on many places at that festival! So I mostly shot from where I was sitting/standing. I nearly decided not to bother, but then I thought--I am not going to let adversity get me down! I put the telephoto lens on my camera, tweaked the settings as needed, and got down to it. I ended up with some of the best shots I took out of all the shows, so I’m glad I went for it after all! It also happened that I was in the perfect spot to get some great shots of Marty when he climbed the tower, as well. At one point, Marty came out in the crowd and picked up a little boy and sang to him. I found out later that he was cousin Bill’s little boy—awwww!!! This was another really top-notch show! I’m so proud of the guys for what they’re doing!
Oh, the funniest part of this show was that Billy was wearing……a light blue shirt that said something about ski equipment on it. That’s right, Billy was wearing Marty’s shirt—LMAO!!!!! I asked him afterward, and he started laughing and said it really was! I think that’s the ultimate expression of their regained closeness as a band of brothers. However, let us just hope that they don’t wear each other’s underwear--BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Thank you, Lovehammers, for 2 incredible weekends of awesome music, fun, and mayhem!!!

Thanks for the links Cindy. Did you see how the article in the 3rd link is sort of slamming the Lovehammers:
"The only downside to the night was the rather dull opening act. The Lovehammers certainly have their hearts in the right place but musically they lack creativity. Lead singer Marty Casey, best known for being on the television show Rockstar: INXS, has the potential but doesn’t let it go anywhere"
What the heck? I can't imagine the Lovehammers being dull!

Miss Jane.
Yeah, the reviewer kinda didn't have a clue. But the photographers pics are nice! It is great that the featured photo is one of Marty and not one of the Wallflowers which is what the guy wrote about!

Wow... that reviewer is out to lunch! I had to post a comment about his article on the link above... couldn't help myself (even though I wasn't there - ha ha). The part where he says: "The surprising part was watching people actually walk out after the Lovehammers show without staying to see Dylan."... I think that says it all.

I too was rather irritated by the review and left a comment. It's like the reviewer took 5 snapshots of the Lovehammers and based his entire opinion on THAT instead of taking in the *whole* picture. His ignorance of the band was bad enough but the potshots at US, the fans, were uncalled for and appear to be based ONLY on our being MORE interested in Lovehammers than in Dylan Lite.........er, Junior........ I suspect that Wallflowers is probably a fine band and Jakob Dylan is probably a talented guy - BUT, I was never a big fan of his daddy and so have not been particularly drawn to junior. No disrespect intended - just the way it is. HH
