Hi MyO.....are you going to the NY show? Haven't seen you around in a long time (even though I am usually a silent member of the group). You always had me laughing.
Have fun everyone!!

Here's my review ~
LH never disappoint, they put on a good show, but for long time fans, it was obvious something was missing. The Gramercy was about three quarters full. The band played an hour long set of mostly classic LH songs. New songs were Guns, You're Time Our Time, Heavy Crown and Black Angel. They followed it up with a two song encore of The Riddle and Trees. Highlights were Eyes Can't See and Black Angel. There were a few smiles from Dino and Billy, but Marty was unusually serious. I don't remember a single smile from him and he didn't connect with the crowd the way he usually does. Vocally he was solid, but the amazing energy he generates on stage just wasn't there. The friend I went with called it a very internal performance from him and I would agree. It seemed as if he just wasn't feeling well. Surprisingly, they didn't really mention the new cd, and I was disappointed that they didn't perform more of the new tunes. I would love to have heard Oh My Baby again, which they played in Chicago. And I'm waiting for Neverfall and Loaded to make it into the set.
Set list ~
Guns Tunnel Call of Distress Clinic Eyes Can't See Your Time, My Time Hold On SAAA Black Angel Heavy Crown Paint In Black Let's Get Wasted/Tricky This Town
Encore: Riddle Trees

HI Tinley. Thank you for your review of the NYC show. I was surprised not to see many fan comments/reviews, right after their show, show up on the Lh sites, MS, FB, etc., for everyone to see. LOVEHAMMERS appeared amped and ready to ROCK at the "Rock This" live Interview, 6 hours before the main event that night..... I'm a newbie to Lh & discovered them, like millions around the world did, when Marty was on Rockstar. So, I found it interesting to see what a veteran fan had to honestly say. I love music and see allot of bands live come through LA and sometimes, they don't meet the expectation. Marty exuded so much energy at their Chicago shows the weekend of June 19th. And, from my experience, he normally does at many shows, hometown turf or not. Maybe it was an off night? It happens.....I'm not misinterpreting you at all. Front men often feed off of the energy from the crowd. It sets the tone for the evening and how the rest of the band will kick in. At BAM, they were totally excited about the NYC show! I'm surprised there was no mention about the New CD, especially when they're pushing hard to get the #'s in for the 1st week's selling. Glad it was still a good show, just not what you maybe expected OR are accustom to. I'm sure there will be more awesome shows, to come this year!! Thank you for sharing your review and pics. KP

Sorry. Meant to post sooner about Friday's concert, but I was in Ct at a Nickleback concert sat, a birthday party Sunday, and being old with 2 boys, it took me a while to recover ! I agree with what has been said so far. I love the guys, love the music, but something was a bit off. This is my 3rd Lovehammer concert and I saw Marty last summer with LA Guns. I am too crazy about them to ever say I'm disappointed in anything they do. But Friday night Marty was very somber. He didn't interact with the crowd much, didn't make a lot of eye contact and barely spoke. He seemed very introspective. I brought 4 friends with me and they aren't familiar with him & they noticed it right off too. He looked almost sad, maybe? At least preoccupied. I don't know. Bobby, Billy & Dino were sure having fun though. I was right in front of Dino & he never stopped smiling. Whatever Marty was going through it didn't seem to effect the other guys. I wouldn't say it put a damper on my night but seeing Marty's mood changed mine. I think I spent more time worrying about what was going on with him then actually rocking out to the music. After the concert he had no trouble posing for pictures/ signing but he disappeared quickly while the other guys stayed and hung out. I admit I might be spoiled after my experience last summer at LA Guns. I was front & center & Marty was the complete opposite of how he was on Friday. I had so many "Marty moments" I can't even count them. That being said, this is in no way a complaint. Everyone has ups and downs. The music sounded great. I got my picture with Marty, a nice hug, he signed my shirt. I got to meet Billy, Bobby & Dino which I hadn't done before. And I had a much needed night out with four of my best friends. Since I didn't want to see the show through a camera, my friends took pictures and I don't have them all yet. But here are a few. I'm not sure it will come out large enough here to see it well, but the 3rd one with the light behind Marty's head is my favorite. Once I get the rest I will post any good ones. I'm hoping Marty is feeling better now & I'm looking forward to their next trip to NY.

Oh jeeze! I am getting sad just reading these!!! Okay, let's all just close our eyes together and send hugs, hugs, hugs, to Marty together right now! Whether it is sadness, or just that he was under the weather, the fact is Marty ALWAYS gets up and performs as best as he can for us! (Did so with a broken knee once, I was there, hopped around and everything!!!) So, let's assume he was giving all he had and start cooperatively sending as much positive energy his direction as possible right away! A sad Marty makes a sad Marggie...

Marty seemed fine and in good spirits at the shows on Tuesday and Wed. of last week. Maybe he just wasn't feeling well in NYC. Hubby and I came back from Chicago last week feeling a little under the weather ourselves, with some kind of intestinal bug. We didn't feel so great Thursday and Friday. If something was going around, maybe Marty got it, too. He's not one to make excuses, so he would have tried his best to get through the show even if he was feeling sick. I hope he's feeling better now. Nice photos, Tinley and Rusalka! Thanks for posting them and your reviews.

Thanks Tinley and Rusalka for your reviews and pics. I hope Marty is ok whether it was illness or something else. He's always the professional though...on with the show. Thanks again for taking the time to let us know how it went in New York.

Hey, all. I meant to post a review sooner, but just got busy. I think Tinley summed up the experience for me. I enjoyed the show, but it was a bit different from the show's I'd seen before. Not worse. Just different. Marty gave his all to the performance, as usual. And he came out to stand on the inside step on the pit barricade several times. He just reached out with his voice, not his hand, this time.
Anyway, I have lots and lots of photos. They'll be coming shortly.

Hi everyone. I attended the show, in fact it was my first Lovehammers show I had the opportunity of attending & I thought it was awesome. I didn't know what to expect & was truly blown away.
That's my big head in the one photo you have up. LOL I was front & center & was at a loss for words when Marty jumped off stage & sang practically on top of me (I had to keep dodging his wire). Where to look, where to look!! A few times he looked down & I just mouthed Hi Marty & he did smile. After the show a woman came up to me & said you should have seen your face... I probably looked like this...
Being that it was the first time seeing them live I couldn't tell you if he was in a good mood or a bad one while performing, but when I met him earlier in the day, he was very cordial, spoke to me & my freind for a few minutes & took photos with us. He was smiling & charming as ever.
Anyway, I do hope they come back to the East Coast real soon or else I'll have to do a road trip. I am already going through withdrawal!! And I too wish Loaded & Neverfall were in the set list.
