Guess I might change my plans and hit this earlier show and pass on BAM later that night. Would make it easier on the family!

A BIG THANK YOU to Nancy and Duane for taking us to this acoustic show (and somehow managing to get me back on time to catch my shuttle to the airport ) It was such a wonderful experience. To be so close to the LH's singing and to hear my favourite song Velvet was I think the other songs were Tunnel, Black Angel and Trees. There may have been 1 more. Here are a few pics from the show. Here are a couple more pics

For the June 21 Best Buy appearance, they played about 35 minutes, I think. My memory is that they played Oh My Baby, The Riddle, Tunnel, Black Angel, Velvet, and Trees. They started off with Oh My Baby, and Marty said they hadn't done that one acoustically before, so they'd be winging it. They winged it well! After that one, they asked for requests and then pretended not to hear some of the requests until someone called out the title of a song they were well-rehearsed on and knew they could do very well. Before starting Black Angel, Marty was wondering out loud if Black Angel was "too mean" to play at a Best Buy. Luckily, for us, he decided it wasn't.

Wow, you guys are so awesome. So many great pictures and so many great reviews. Thank you I have to convince my husband that we really need to move to Chicago. Missing way too much by being here instead of there. How can I make this happen

I was thinking the same thing mcmaniac! But I think it would cause me to be divorced... how do you explain that you're going to see the band every opportunity you get without ticking off the other half ?? :-)
Thanks everyone for the reviews. I'm so sad I missed the performance by 1 hour! If only it started at 1pm as was originally thought... sigh... oh well, next time. I'm just happy I got to see them twice. What a weekend!

I think I can convince the hubby. He likes to drink, I like to see Lovehammers, that's a pretty good combination. I'll tell him I have a new hobby that we can both enjoy (although I think I'll definitely be getting the better end of the deal) Now all we have to do is totally uproot our lives and find new jobs. Guess I better patiently wait for the new CD and wait for a show to come closer to where I live.

Congratulations to your hubby, Nicole!
Key, there was a Gibson guitar raffled off at each of the Best Buy stores after the shows. I think Gibson was one of the sponsors.
Jupiterjane's hubby won the guitar at the Downer's Grove show.

I was thinking the same thing mcmaniac! But I think it would cause me to be divorced... how do you explain that you're going to see the band every opportunity you get without ticking off the other half ?? :-) LOL... Yeah that might be a difficult one to work out with your hubby... I am on the opposite side of the fence. Divorced, single beyond comprehension( LOL), and no ties to hold me down. I do have a 6 year old son, he is my life... and my life comes with me where ever I may go and I will provide for him no matter where we are. Just that with things going on at home with my Dad and his cancer, I know where I am needed. However, should the tides change direction I can move on with ease. Life is too short to have limits placed on the heart and soul. I literally live still out of boxes from my last move anyway. My life has always been filled with change and constant move... so, I tend not to unpack anymore since part of me is just waiting for the next change or move to happen. How I wish that I finally had a place that felt like 'home' and to settle down in. Something that felt just a bit secure... but, life isn't about wishes it is about making your dreams into reality. One day I may settle down for real. Until then I am still waiting for the next big move to happen... who knows Chicago has always felt more like home to me than anyplace else I have ever been. It even feels more like home to me than LA... we will see. Anyway... I do understand. Trying to keep your partner on equal footing and not pissing him off with going to shows all the time might be a weary task. Not impossible... you just have to slowly convert him into being a Hammerhead and coming to shows with you

Best Buy, Downers Grove, 6/21/09. We couldn’t be 2 places at once, so we had to miss Holding Mercury’s show at BAM Fest that afternoon. We will have to catch them another day. We were happy to be able to treat our guests who flew in for the weekend to the trip out to Downers Grove, since some of them had never seen an acoustic show by Lovehammers. We drove like mad to get there by 1 pm, only to find out that the show had been moved to 2 pm. That was OK though, since we didn’t miss it. Marty came out wearing a vest over no shirt, and that just about caused me to lose all ability to concentrate! ;-) This was an excellent acoustic show, and these guys really know how to make them rock! Adrienne (JupiterJane)’s hubby won the guitar that the store was giving away at this show. After some time with the guys, it was off to dinner at Athena—yummy!

Best Buy, Aurora, IL, 6/28/09. Ha ha—they did it to us again! The show was scheduled for 11 am, but when we got there, it had been moved to noon or 12:30. So we adjourned to the acoustic guitar room for an impromptu jam session with Duane and my sister on guitars, and all of us singing. After a little while, Dino and Bobby came in to pick out guitars for the show (apparently drummers get some say in this!), and Bobby was also trying to round up some drums. We spent a nice interval with them, talking and laughing at jokes while they tried out guitars. Eventually Billy came by, too. When they were ready to head out to the stage, we put the guitars we were using back up and went out there, too. The store staff seemed to be having some trouble with their audio, so Marty called on Duane to check on the sound at different points out from the stage, and let them know what needed adjustment. Marty was wearing a cool-looking light blue shirt that said something about ski equipment on the back. This is important to note for later in the day….. There were no mics for Dino and Billy, so they had to lean forward and sing loud to try to hit Marty’s mic, I guess. They still played a good show, despite the tech issues. Another Hammerhead hubby won the guitar at this store—congrats!
