We went to see a hot new band called "El Aiche" at Double Door last night.
Of course, it was really Lovehammers, semi-incognito, and it was a night full of surprises! There were T-shirts for sale that said "El Aiche" on them, and everything was written in Spanish, including a rude phrase that translates to one that graced their shirts years ago. ;D
The stage there is small, nothing fancy, and before the show, I said to another girl, "I think these guys are really going to tear it up tonight!" Boy, was I right about that!!!
This was the most intense show I've seen since CBGB's. They were on fire! Billy and Dino took turns, along with Marty, in going out onto the speakers at the front of the stage and rocking the hell out of the place! Incredibly awesome show!!! I can't stop smiling, thinking of it all. They played "Your Time, My Time", "Find Your Way", "Black Angel", "Guns", and maybe one other new one, plus some of the old favorites, and their cover of "Paint It Black"
I ended up the evening with a set list--written on a tortilla! An actual flour tortilla!!! That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen! At first I thought it was a drum head, then I realized what the texture was.
I've got it pressing flat under a stack of books right now, so I'll post what it says, or maybe even a photo or scan of it, later.
Billy traded places with Dino and cousin Bill, so that was another surprise.
Dino has grown a handlebar mustache.
I didn't take photos this time. I'd shot seven shows in a row, and I needed a break. I just wanted to rock out and enjoy the show, and it was a good one to do just that. Intense and fun--awesome! I still can't sleep yet, and can't stop smiling.
I predict a bright future for this upstart band, "El Aiche"!
