They're at number two as of my voting. Please vote, get everyone you know to vote, post bulletins and blogs at MySpace, and repost the link at Facebook...beg others to get mobile and vote....this is SOOOO CLOSE!

I wonder if the other band is using vote bots.

Everyone be prepared during the last few days of this--it is not unheard of for the competition in contests like this to hold back their true numbers, then do a big push at the end. We will have to be on alert! [/IMG]
After voting around 200 times, and seeing NO change, plus seeing others reporting the same thing, I am now convinced that the other band is using vote bots. This is after the contest being only a few votes apart until midday today, and suddenly the other band is HUNDREDS of votes (or more) ahead?! (Do a Google search on "automatic voting software", "vote bots", etc... ) This is what I was warning people about, because I've seen it happen in other contests. The competition votes just enough to make it seem close, then in the last few hours, they unleash their vote bots (which do have ways to get around the captcha codes, too). Then they 'win' by cheating.

I just read in Facebook that you can vote with the same address multiple times... just cut and paste all night long.

Me too. and they are still 2nd. The rules say that they filter duplicate emails at the end of each day, so perhaps LH still has a chance. The voting allows you to enter your email more than once but it will not count.

There's still hope. It's not over yet.

Late morning they were only a few votes separating them and now there is no way to catch them. I also submitted about 100 diff emails this evening and could not catch them. Too bad. I hate it when the bad guys win.

That makes me sad. After voting every single day. Me too - it was so close & looked like a genuine competition over the last few weeks while we've been voting.

Yes, it does seem to show that the other band won!!!! Well, that's alright too! As long as the band is getting in these, and people are seeing them, that is all that matters yes? It was GREAT to see sooo many people come together for the BEST band, but sometimes, the best doesn't get first place! But they STILL WIN, cause they have US!!!!! Just think of ALLLL the people that saw that contest huh? And saw that the Lovehammers was in 2nd, and heard the song. Here's toasting *fresh coffee* the Lovehammers!!!!!! And "Guns" for being such a TOP NOTCH song that should be at number one now!!!! (patiently waiting the next voting one) Love Nancy

I sent an e-mail to the website tipping them off to perhaps voting bots by the other band... this is the response I got: Lisa, The use of automated bots or other "automated" votes are in violation of the terms that every band is required to agree to in order to be entered into the Next Big Thing feature. If you can find evidence of these actions posted somewhere please forward it onto us and we will evaluate it and take action accordingly. We have reviewed our voting log and see nothing that would lead us to believe a automated process is being used to vote for any specific band. Our server assigns a unique code to each voter based on their IP address, making it very easy to spot automated voting bots in our logs. From what I can tell the voting is simply very close, and The Better World have likely made a late push (by sending out a newsletter or blog entry) that has pushed them over the top, this is actually pretty common as band's tend to urge fans to vote for them as the feature wraps up. There are still a few hours left before the feature ends, tell fans of The Lovehammers to go vote, they have until midnight tonight! Chad AlternativeAddiction.com Soooooo too bad for our guys I guess.

Lisa, I also wrote to them about it, and I got back exactly the same form letter.....EXACTLY the same. This suggests that they have a recurring problem with this, and deal with it by sending out a stock response. I guess we have now learned something about that site.

Very disappointing. I voted every day legitimately. Lets keep our eyes open for the next possible promotional contest for the band.
