I found a new trick
. . . well, at least it's new for me.
At the main message board page, in INFO CENTER at the bottom, there is a nice little <click> that will pull up the 20 most recent posts. This really saves a lot of time as you can always see where the current action is.
HOWEVER, it is only 20 posts. If you are ridiculous (like me) and like to see further back then that . . . like EVERYTHING that's happened since your last visit . . . you actually have to go through each thread using the date of last post to find all the new stuff.
Well, I've been using the search option already for various reasons, and it suddenly occurred to me I could probably use it to find ALL the latest posts. I tried it - and it works!
All you have to do is this:
Click SEARCH (beside the magnifying glass at the top of the screen)
Leave the SEARCH FOR field blank
Go to POSTED WITHIN THE LAST and put in however far back you want to search
Go to Maximum results and put in some huge number that you think will cover everything you need.
Press SEARCH and voila!
Up come all the new posts you need!
Just read from the bottom up.
As I said, I might just be slow not to have thought of this before
but if it helped me it might also help someone else.
Note: I think this would also work at the LH site.
