Rachel- Oh that makes sense, And dan really doesnt know any of you, the only one who would know would be Dino, but you did reveal yourself at the end speech of your version (which I thought was ADORABLE)
And I know it didnt have to do with you guys being girls, I was just a little jealous. I didnt want the prizes or the soundcheck really. I just did it all for fun!! I thought Fish's version was AWESOME, havent heard Dustins. Stilletto's is good too!
Thats too bad that we cannot transfer names though. Because Fish said I could have his entry since he is not going to HJ and I thought I would come back and contact you hear about getting Kara on. But, then saw Dan's Post.
God I dont want him to get in trouble for letting us all into the S.C.
I see at the .com in the Karaokee thread winners, that someone entered with her family (or friends) as a group and there are three or four of them. I wanted to do this before with my friend angel shadow back when the contest was running and was told it had to be solo individuals and not duets or groups?
This whole thing is going to end up causing Dan and T totally headaches.
Poor LH crew!

As far as I'm concerned SC question period is over.........now is the time to just enjoy the opportunity Dan has created for us. Thanks for the Kudos but I still say I sucked.........lol

I wanted to do this before with my friend angel shadow back when the contest was running and was told it had to be solo individuals and not duets or groups? This whole thing is going to end up causing Dan and T totally headaches. Poor LH crew! RB Dan knows me, we chat a lot but he doesn't really know Marnie or Kim as far as I know. The other day I sent him an email from a fake yahoo name asking about the contest results and he emailed back and knew exactly who I was because he said I am the only one that gives him a hard time like that...so I guess my language and the way I speak is recognizable. He knew it was me when I sent the song in, but like I said, he removed the beginning and ending messages from my song so all the guys heard was the actual song part - same as what is posted on the winners thread. Yes the rules were changed. Originally I had asked to do it acoustic and play guitar so I could change the key, but I was told it has to be the track they provided, no exceptions. I know at the end they were accepting acapella versions, group versions, etc. Wish I would have known that. As far as the soundcheck, I wanted to give mine to Tracy since I am not going, but transfers are not allowed. Dan gave me my prize options for the signed CD...it was either MCLH or MOMM signed. I chose MOMM. Was hoping for one of the older ones, but at least I get better than poor Marnie who came in 2nd and just gets picks and drumsticks signed. Kimmie got a good one, though. Hope everyone has fun at the show and soundcheck, I am sure I will hear all about it from the Wicked Witches. HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!!

One more thing -
I agree with the two people above. I know it's frustrating for the people going to not be able to bring a guest, but at least you will know some people there and I think everyone should just make it fun and appreciate what they got. Like I tell my kids - you get what you get, and you don't throw a fit. Especially...consider the fact that everyone that entered gets the prize, and not just the winners. To be honest, the prizes for 2nd and 3rd place are not that great...so 2nd and 3rd basically get the same thing as everyone else that entered even though they won. In my humble opinion, the people that entered but did not win should pretty much be super thankful.....and not cause drama over not bringing someone....cause I think everyone got off pretty lucky. Just something to think about....

AMEN whats nyname again. you are a smart cookie. I am blessed to be able to go this, and also blessed that I was given a shout out/mention. I wonder if they did the same thing with all the entries, didnt tell them who was who, because like Still said about his version, I thought I sucked and my friends wre just being nice....lol Oh well, they can all hear me sing for real as I am am going to the Hammerjam Karaokee party in Chinatown Sunday the 15th. Everyone is meeting at 7:30pm at the Ho jos parking lot and then we are going from there. I will have the Tree's version w/o vocals there for anyone who wants to give it a shot As rachel said, have fun everyone as still said, be respectful and not go out of control and fan boy/girl during the sound check. I am just going to go sit down with my two friends, watch the soundcheck, have t-bone escort us out the door and re-join my friends in line.

I asked Dan the day after the contest was announced if I could enter with my two sisters, and he said it was fine. Then when it got near the deadline and we hadn't sent it in yet, he emailed me and asked me if we had chickened out! I didn't think we would win, but I try to enter all of the contests to show support the band. It is so nice of them to let all of the people who entered attend. I look forward to meeting the winners and other participants if they go. You are very talented!

Stil, that means u and I are going to sound check, baby! OMG Terrific!!!!! They all sound great.........everyone did an awesome job!! I'd be interested in knowing what software everyone used to do their recording.........they all sound so clear.........I think I could have used something else.........lol I snagged Audacity off the web - hey, it was free for the download !! Actually, it isn't bad. Takes a little getting used to, but once you figure it out it's pretty straightforward. Well, the software itself is. It would help a LOT, I think, if you have a really bangin' soundcard with multiple inputs and outputs. I was using only the built-in sound on my motherboard (out of slots !!!) which leaves a bit to be desired in the flexibility department. I would have preferred to have laid down my vocal as a separate track and then mixed it with the music outboard of the computer. More on that below..... But, for a karaoke it worked. I ended up running my mic through an Alesis Nanoverb to stick a bit of reverb on my vocal and THEN into an outboard mixer to control the level and also do some EQ. The vocal coming through was a little odd and the EQ put it a bit more in line with reality......I think....... And THEN finally back to the computer at line level. Without some kind of mic level control, the computer/software had a tendancy to really blow the vocal LOUD right over the music and not sound so great. I preferred to have a more "realistic mix" that blended instead of blasted. But I was able to go back and double-track into it which was a darned good thing, because the CD version backing track makes one have to sing in a register that was bloody difficult. Some of those notes were WAAAAY up there, and applying the double-tracked vocal tended to help heal a few, er, "vocal cord failures." Alternated between straight double-track and harmony and with one fairly glaring glitch that I didn't really have time to fix and not enough voice left to fix it........ I was frustrated by one aspect of Audacity that I briefly touched on above. I could NOT find a way to import the backing track into the project AND track the vocals separately. With enough fiddling about externally, I suppose I could have done it but time and vocal cords were expiring. But I was pretty much stuck with a hot mix right off the top......"Trees, take 462 !" It was fun and frankly, musically inspiring. That actually goes back to seeing Marty on RockStar and saying "wow, that guy is amazing!". I started watching religiously and it got me to get my guitar(s) out of mothballs. I think I have played more in the last year than in the previous TEN years combined. As I discovered more and more of the 'Hammers I found modern rock that wasn't a total downer and was in fact, very energizing. That's more in line with what I grew up with.........four English guys on the Ed Sullivan show..........and yeah, I'm old enough that I actually *watched* the Beatles on those memorable programs as a kid. Kudos to everyone who participated!

Garage band for me. My much cooler and savvy daughter showed me how to use it. God, Apple makes things sooooooo easy.

Garage band for me. My much cooler and savvy daughter showed me how to use it. God, Apple makes things sooooooo easy. My experience with Apple goes back a LONG way, particularly recalling a box they made that was probably the first really good multimedia "PC".....what the heck was that thing.....uh, IIGS maybe? Never owned one, couldn't afford it. I ran Commodore 64 at home for a long time back when they blew the early PC's right outta the water for sound and color video. That didn't last long, of course......and I never DID own an Apple. I notice with some interest that in many of the recording mags and catalogs it seems like there is a lot of stuff out there for Apple. Not that there isn't also for WinDoze boxes, but a lot of people seem to really like using Apple as their "base". I dunno - maybe I should have done the mixing on my Tascam 4-track but the speed and portability of using the computer was awfully attractive. See I come from the era of open-reel machines like Studer and ReVox when everything was analog and on magnetic tape. A dinosaur of Jurassic recording technologies, I guess. This-pod and that-pod and mp3 and....well, it gets a little bewildering after a while. But, I am learning and thank GOD that my guitar and amp haven't been put out to pasture YET.
