Ok. Lets assume that we get to set the playlist for the RS:INXS DVD but we have to use the same number of songs for each performer:
Marty - 4 songs JD - 3 songs Jordis - 3 songs Suzie - 3 songs Ty - 2 songs MiG - 2 songs
Here's what they chose: California Dreamin'" - J.D. Fortune "Heart-Shaped Box - Jordis Unga "Losing My Religion" - Suzie McNeil "Mr. Brightside" - Marty Casey "Everybody Hurts" - Ty Taylor "The Man Who Sold The World" - Jordis Unga "Live and Let Die" - Mig Ayesa "The Letter" - J.D. Fortune "Baby One More Time" - Marty Casey "Bring It On Home To Me" - Suzie McNeil "No Woman, No Cry" - Ty Taylor "Imagine" - Jordis Unga "Creep" - Marty Casey "Kiss From A Rose" - Mig Ayesa "Money" J.D. Fortune "Wish You Were Here" - Marty Casey "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Suzie McNeil
Would you have picked different songs?

Here's what I think:
Marty - 4 songs How do you chose only 4 songs?! The missing songs for me were Trees and Lithium
Wish You Were Here - essential Mr. Brightside - essential. Hit Me Baby One More Time - an interesting choice and the song that made me adore him but I might pick Trees instead Creep - another interesting choice. I'm glad they put this on it because it's a very Marty song. I'm surprised they chose it over Lithium but I'm happy they did.
J.D. California Dreaming The Letter Money J.D. is easier because he really blew or did average on quite a few of his songs. 'Pretty Vegas' is in the INXS Concert part so it wasn't needed in the performance section. I'm surprised they didn't include 'Hand in Pocket' but I think it was nice they included a later song 'Money'.
Jordis: Heart Shaped Box - essential The Man who Sold the World - essential Imagine - maybe could have been replaced. I wasn't desperately excited by this. It seemed like more of the same but I'm not sure what it could have been replaced by. The Reason and Gimme Some Lovin' were good and I heard her first song was as well (no video on the site). I almost think she only needed two songs on the DVD but the two songs were SOOOO good you'd hate to do that.
Suzie: Losing My Religion Bring it on home to me Bohemian Rhapsody I love these three songs. Bohemian Rhapsody got some mixed reviews but it was such a 'Big' song with the orchestra and choir etc. that they just had to include it.
Ty: Everybody Hurts No Woman No Cry These were both great choices. The two songs that Ty really showed emotion without so much theatricality.
MiG: Live and Let Die Kiss from a Rose. I kind of lost my enjoyment of MiG as time went on so I think two songs was the right number for him but I'm really surprised by their two choices. I thought there was a general concensus that MiG's best song was 'Baby I Love your Way' and I'm really surprised they didn't include it. 'Lola' would have been my choice for the second song and MiG mentioned that it was his favourite of his songs. I liked the two they included better now than I did when I first saw them.
In general I was pretty happy with the choices they made. I think most of the songs on the DVD represent the best of the show. I'm glad they included more songs from the better performers and ignoring the earlier performers rather than going the 'one song per performer' route that the Idol CD's do.

My choices: Marty: Wish You Were Here - keep; how could you not? Hit Me Baby - keep; he kinked it out and made it less "candy", his rendition owned me Creep - keep; it was so dark and beautiful I'd watch forever Mr. Brightside - keep; his performance was so good it kicked off an all acoustic show...gotta love that Jordis: Man Who Sold the World - keep; performance gives me goosebumps everytime I watch Heart-Shaped Box - keep; loved it, she rocked the house Imagine - I love it, but I'd swap it for the Marty/Jordis original, Try Not (the song spoke to me for some reason) JD: The Letter - keep California Dreamin - his performance amuses me, but I'd trade for the very first rendition of Pretty Vegas Money - keep Suzie: Bohemian Rhapsody - keep; loved it more than MiG's version Losing My Religion - keep; love the song, loved the rendition Bring It On Home to Me - trade for Start Me Up cause I wanna watch her stage dive Ty: No Woman, No Cry - keep Everybody Hurts - love but too many downers so switch with Somebody Told Me MiG: Live and Let Die - trade for Lola; even I need a little MiG skin, lol Kiss From a Rose - love but trade for Paint It Black; I really enjoyed his version, esp when the music dropped and he did a line accapella. ---Outta all of them poor MiGlet really got the short end of the stick, didn't he? Oh well, that my take.

I think they made some good choices, however I would change a few things:
Marty: I liked "Hit Me Baby...", but it certainly wasn't one of my favs. The first "Trees" would have been the best. I would even have taken "With Arms Wide Open".
J.D.: Frankly, I could have done without most of his performances. The only two I liked were "Pretty Vegas" and most of all "You Can't Always Get What you Want". I really liked that one, which was totally painful because by that time, I really didn't like him much at all.
Miglet: I probably would have kept the same two although I really liked "Baby I love Your Way"
Suzie: I also agree with Tooks here - get rid of "Bring It On Home" and replace it with "Start Me Up". She rocked that one!
Jordis: Could have done without "Imagine". I liked it, but didn't think she should have worn a smile throughout the song. Lennon didn't write it that way. I agree with Tooks -- kinda liked "Try Not"
Ty: Would have kept the same.
Overall - More MC would have been nice. ;D

Hmmm very hard, this. Can I substitute some more Marty for less Mig and JD? No, well, imagine what the producers of this DVD had to go thru -- they couldn't make an all-Marty or all-Nirvana song DVD. The other strange thing is that only JD's performances of INXS tunes made the cut. Understandable, but Marty's Don't Change was amazing.
Okay, here goes... JD/the re-arranging show: California Dreamin', Come As You Are, You Can't Always Get What You Want
Mig: Baby I Love Your Way is the only one I'd listen to again. Um, maybe Kiss from a Rose? I really don't care what the second one is.
Suzie: Losing My Religion, Bring it On Home and Bohemian cause it was so much fun to watch the choir jumping up and down. I liked Start Me Up, but thought Bring it on Home was a really lovely performance.
Jordis: This one is hard, too cause I really enjoyed most of her perfomances. Loved Gimme, Baba, etc, but Heart Shaped Box, The Who Saved the World and Knockin' On Heaven's Door are my faves. So out with Imagine and in with Knockin.
Ty: Again, don't care. Everybody Hurts and No Woman, No Cry were his best.
Marty; I just can't choose. It's too hard. I never expected Trees to be on the DVD cause it's all him and no INXS. Okay, Mr. Brightside is when i fell in love, so that stays. Hmmm... Wish You Were Here is a must. Creep is just too cool and intense not to include. Ok, so do I choose Hit Me Baby (LOVE how he sings this), Arms Wide Open (omg how does anyone get me to love this song? very sexy performance.) Lithium (no words, really....). I guess it's good I didn't have to select. Maybe I'd go with Arms, no Hit Me, no Lithium.
HELP. must lie down now.

This is really hard, but I like the topic so much I wanted to reply.
First, there is one (maybe two?) episodes that I still haven't watched. The one for sure that I've never seen has Suzie's Losing My Religion and Ty's No Woman, No Cry - so I can't include them on my list at the moment.
Secondly, when I re-watch the RSINXS shows a lot of my opinions flip-flop.
JD - 1. Hand In My Pocket 2. Come As You Are 3. Pretty Vegas
Jordis - 1. The Man Who Sold the World 2. Baba O'Riley 3. Imagine
Ty - 1. Proud Mary 2. Everybody Hurts
Mig - 1. Lola 2. Paint It Black
Suzie - 1. Bring It On Home to Me 2. What's Up 3. Start Me Up
Marty - so impossible to narrow it down - at this moment my choices are..... 1. Don't Change (I'm probably cheating by choosing this, but I love it and his attitude when he performed it) 2. Creep 3. Mr. Brightside 4. I, Alone

I think they chose fairly well, but I would have had one more Ty and one less Jordis.
My picks:
Marty: Take Me Out (this was my fave) Wish You Were Here Mr. Brightside I Alone
JD: California Dreaming Hand in my Pocket You Can't Always Get What You Want (I could almost include We are the Champions - just for comedic relief ;D)
Jordis: Heart Shaped Box Man Who Sold the World (No third choice for her)
Suzie: Start Me Up Losing My Religion Superstition
Ty: No Woman, No Cry You Can't Always Get What You Want Heartbreaker (I am giving him one of Jordis')
Mig: Lola (by far his best) Baby I Love Your Way At least their picks for the DVD are good. I thought the picks for the CD sucked.

At least their picks for the DVD are good. I thought the picks for the CD sucked. ITA - they were so smart to stick with the best songs rather than going with one song per competitor. I think giving Marty one more than everyone else was the best we could have hoped for & I was really pleased with the DVD (though I would rather have had everything)
