[ Yes, JD did certainly like to rub himself, didn't he? Except when he was pogo dancing or doing that weird spaz move with his hand. ... maybe Marty wasn't right for INXS. But they weren't right for him, either! Yep...the funny thing is that INXS initially cautioned JD for his spastic moves, but lately he's been acting like he's a pornstar with the microphone.....maybe they know they're stuck with him and his pecularities, cause Marty isn't interested in INXS. I've said before, JD isn't a good rocker, he's much better as a balads/R&B type of guy....but most of INXS is soft/pop rock, so in a bid to disguise his inadequacy, he's added softcore pornography to his rock acts....LOL, the pretty seems pretty desperate to me ;D And you're right about the house band, Marty worked perfectly with them...but I guess he already had the LHers. JD is very, very lucky he can draw on the talent and experience of INXS, otherwise he's be back to where he was and that was basically nowhere.

The house band had a lot of respect for Marty. During the rehearsal for "Mr. Brightside" Paul said that he was always impressed with Marty because Marty always came to work. Unlike JD, who was either sleeping or doing yet another one of his BOOM-chica-chica BOOM chica-chica song arrangements. Complete with spaz hand moves, of course. Seeing all the shows back to back, I can't believe how many songs he butchered. He was just lucky that on those particular nights, there were other "rockers" who were even worse than he was.
Marty is great. That's all there is to it.

Exactly....and you know what, the thing I notice about JD fans is that they're really just thrill-seekers or mindless head bangers....Marty OTOH has heaps more substance.....consider his version of "Take me out".....that was amazing*, and Marty dressed and looked the part, whereas JD is barely wearing any clothes half the time, IOW, JD substitutes crotch action for vocal ability and artistry. I can't stand the idea that JD is considered a better rocker than Marty, that really sux. *I consider it heaps better than the original....which I barely care for, and only bothered to chase up because of what Marty did with it.

Interesting that almost a full year later this subject is still being debated... as a fan of both Marty and the LH and INXS, I am pretty happy with the way things turned out. Marty is where he belongs and I will always be grateful for the show, and the tour, that gave Marty/LH, and their collective talent, a lot of exposure.
In the end, I think both JD and Marty won what meant the most to them. Win, win all around, IMO...
I can't wait for the day that all the people involved can be extracacted from their association with the show. I think fans are making waves, and creating drama, where none exists.

To each their own I guess... I don't need to defend liking INXS- have been a fan for 20 years. Nor do I need to defend being a MC/LH fan. I like them both. I support them both. One has nothing to do with the other.
I enjoyed both the LH and INXS on tour. I don't need to choose one or the other. And besides... music and art are subjective, meaning people have different tastes and preferences.
For example, you run a forum for American Idol. You obviously think highly of the show, and its contestants. I, on the other hand, do not.
Why not talk about Marty, and all the things that are super cool about him, without talking so negatively about someone else?
From what I can see, and from what I have read-- you are just jumping around from board to board making waves. The fan wars are long over...

Interesting that almost a full year later this subject is still being debated... as a fan of both Marty and the LH and INXS, The JD INXS is generally about debauchery.....so I'm curious what's so great about that? Surely you can see how fake a rocker JD is..? No, but obviously you can, and that's what's really important isn't it? JD is barely wearing any clothes half the timeJD seems to spend the majority of the time he is on stage in his standard wardrobe of choice, consisting of various t-shirts and jeans. How is this 'barely wearing any clothes'? Are you Amish? Maybe you meant during the 'too hot for TV' section of the Rockstar DVD. Yeah, that had to be it.... IOW, JD substitutes crotch action for vocal ability and artistry. You know somehow I missed all the crotch action when I listened to the Switch CD. I feel somehow.....ripped off. All I heard was vocal ability. Where was this crotch action of which you speak? I can't stand the idea that JD is considered a better rocker than Marty, that really sux.Who considers JD a better rocker than Marty? Anyone on this board? Anyone on the LH's board? I highly doubt it. Where have you read this consensus that JD is better than Marty at anything? Maybe you could provide quotes from the media to back up that statement. Or maybe you would like to cite your sources in the music business. You've already stated your opinion of JD's fans, so I can't imagine you care what they think. You know, since they're all idiots anyway right? Does anyone on this board think Marty should be fronting INXS right now? No. Therefore it would have been pretty pointless for him to win. As someone pointed out, INXS was not right for Marty. So the best possible thing for Marty was Not To Win!
