Well firstly today is f**king insane, we are on a break right now and wanted to let you know how insane it is today!!!! Due to the fact that we are gonna be recording for the next few days, we unfortunately have to cancel tomorrow nites show @ The Cat Club.. We are bumped about this, but we have to get these tunes out to y'all.. The two Nites @ THE VIPER ROOM 28th & 29th next week are 100 per cent.. So go grab the tickets and we can't wait to see y'all next week...

Juke Kartel announced the cancellation of their Friday Cat Club show on Thursday 9/21 around 3pm but the Cat Club still had them listed late Friday 9/22 as playing. The club would neither confirm or deny their cancellation--so frustrating. So both K87 and I emailed the band through their myspace and we both got responses that indeed they were still in the studio..and would not be at the Cat Club Friday night 9/22. They were sorry for any inconvenience but that they hoped to see us at the Viper shows. I have my ticket for Friday at the Viper room as does K87, 4reeds, Jodie so CJ, we'll see ya there if you go Friday!

Hey All,
I actually ended up going to the MINT last night & saw Nate, Jim and Sasha from the HouseBand play...they were awesome of course.
And guess who else were there? Lukas, Dilana, Toby & his band. I didn't get to hang much w/ them...but just said hi and congratulated Lukas on his win. It appears that Lukas is now staying at a hotel.....since tommy is out of town.
Toby also mentioned about the viper room show. I was gonna try to post it...but you girls beat me to it.
Anyway, have an awesome time at the show!

all i have to say is that i think dilanan shoulda won but i think that toby should have been in the top two and that if a guy shoulda won it shoulda been toby. i respect lucas but i hate the way he moves on the stage!

Hi,
I didn't get real good photos of Jim & Nate....I stood too far away from the stage.....I didn't want to look like a crazy fan. As for Lukas and Toby...I just ended up congratulating Lukas and telling him....I can't believe another Canadian won (I'm also Canadian) & how I was happy for him. I didn't take a pic w/ him.
I did get a quick photo of Toby and I....but I look bad in the pic...so I don't want to post it. He was talking about playing at the viper room. I told him that I would tell the girls about it and how happy they would be to see him.
I really didn't spend as much time with them this time around. I wanted to give the rockers their space. I didn't even know toby was at the club...until Jim announced that they had some rockstar supernova in the house. During a brief turn of my head...I saw Toby and just went up to him to say hi. He was with his whole band. I regret not meeting the whole band....stupid me.
Anyway...it was a fun nite! I'm sure everyone is gonna have fun at the VIPER!

Short report on the Toby Rand/Juke Kartel concert last night. Sorry I didn’t take photos.
Toby said this was their first gig in four months and they looked like they were all having a great time performing together. They sound really tight as a band. It was a fun set and time flew by.
The band played a 30-40 minute set. Since I’m not familiar with all their songs I can’t give you a full set list. I recognized three from their myspace.

They also did a beautiful ballad dedicated to a band member who died. (Robin’s Song?—Sorry I didn’t catch the name) Toby explained that they play it at every show and asked everyone to allow him to sing it that night. Toby and two other band members did some great harmonies on this song.
Toby mentioned that the band might change their name because he said the name sounds like Jew Kartel. There were some Aussie fans there that said don’t change the name. Toby said Evs and then he said—no not “evs—it’s being overused and starting to annoy me” (or something like that).
We were about 3 people back from the stage and shortly after the band came on stage—I felt this hand on my shoulder and I turned and there was Lukas moving past me up to the front of the stage. He shook hands with Toby and stayed up front dancing with the people up front for a song or two and then he moved to the back of the room once again cutting right by me again. Lukas looked happy to be there. You can see a real friendship between Toby and Lukas.
I didn’t hang around after the set, as my friend and I both had early morning appointments.
I really enjoyed their set and would definitely go to a longer concert.
