Wow. Great interivew. So, C &A, what did you spike his tea with to get him to be so open? thanks muchest! Nothing! The first half hour was a bit "formal." We'd not had one-on-one time with Marty....this was our first. It took a little while to feel comfortable and to just feel like we were "hanging out," ya know? Once he felt comfortable he slung his feet over the arm rest of the chair, I sat indian style on the bed, and Cindy manned the tape recorder. (Thanks Cindy!!!). We finally eased into comfortable conversation and time just flew by. I was still a little bit in "shy" mode....I'm that way around folks I don't know well, so I wasn't my normal PITA self (lol) and talking like I would with a long-time buddy. I had an ice breaker for him when he walked in - a gift basket from Cindy & I. A few days before leaving for Charlotte an idea hit me - I'd been struggling with what to get he & the guys. So, since they were "down South" I decided to put together a "Welcome To The Deep South" basket. It was sooo funny! I put in the following stuff: blueberry cornbread jalapeno & cheese cornbread a book about the Marshall Tucker Band pork rinds moon pies Mello Yellow (a citrus soda) a mini pecan pie a bag of pecans pecan praline cookies pecan twirls (a dessert/breakfast thingy) a box of grits boiled peanuts a pint AND a quart of moonshine Marty was intrigued by everything - especially the boiled peanuts. He'd never heard of them and didn't know how to eat them. Then we had fun with the moonshine. I told him "I swear I'm not a hillbilly!" I belive Cindy has a photo of him looking at the moonshine, so I'll ask her to post it. We did a lot of editing of the interview. We cut out our "chit-chat." One of the things I said to him was us knowing a lot about him (ever since starting the site since RS:INXS) and feeling a little uncomfortable about it - he didn't know anything about US. So, I wanted to turn the tables and let him ask questions to Cindy & me so he'd learn more about us and be comfortable with who we are. That was interesting! He asked us stuff about where were born, where we grew up, our families, marital status, jobs, friends, musical tastes, favorite bands, etc. He wanted to know what made us tick. After a couple of hours talking, he had to leave....it was getting late. He invited us back at a specific time to see the tour bus and hang out. Later that evening we went banging on the bus door and in went - but Bobby was sick so we only stayed about 45 mins. Marty invited us to come back after the concert for drinks, but we didn't want to overstay our welcome. Plus, Cindy was REALLY feeling the effects of all the cold medicine she'd been taking and was feeling woozy. By the end of the evening she could barely talk and was exhausted. I stayed up until about 12:30 and called it a night. I was awakened at 1:30 by text messages. I won't name names in these conversations, but the text messages were sweet, funny, and all sorts of good stuff! They sent messages like "have a safe drive home" and "thanks for everything you do for us." A few days later I awakened to a couple more text messages that came in EARLY in the morning (around 6:15 am). Apparently some of the guys (again, I'm not naming names!) had gotten into the "wicked" (their term, not mine!) moonshine. LOL I thought to myself "Are these boys up early or LATE?!" That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....though will give more details if I remember them.

Thanks for sharing those AWESOME details Amy! It is soooo cute that you and Cindy let Marty ask you questions about yourselves. BTW - He DID look totally comfortable in that chair.

Loved Part II of the interview . Interesting stuff going on with him. Thanks for the out-takes, too. We all needed this since there is a lull in the LH action. ;D

Ditto on Marty being a classy cat, there's no question about that. To all on this thread -- Please don't misunderstand my comment in my earlier post regarding the sexual prowess of SOME Marty Casey fans as was intimated in Part II. I've since deleted it but it touched a nerve apparently cause it keeps showing up in other responses. I don't feel it's appropriate for me to be judgemental of anyone else's actions regardless if I agree with it or not, so I try to be positive as much as possible, especially since I know none of you personally. I guess I didn't realize people actually acted like that in REAL LIFE! It was not my intention to encourage the activity at all. I personally am proud Marty's NOT the typical Rock Star, it makes all the support he gets all the more justifiable. It made me uncomfortable just reading about what made HIM uncomfortable! Thanks!

Amy & Cindy, Thank you again for doing all you do! Part II was wonderful and thanks so much for giving us the "behind the scenes" tidbits - it makes us feel like WE were there! I love the bit about the gift basket - showing some good Southern hospitality plus you reminded me of things I'd forgotten I can't get up here (originally from NC).
Thanks again! Jill

Here is the moonshine photo Amy mentioned. We just couldn't find any place to work it into the interview page...so this is probably the only place it will end up.

pdhva,
Not to worry! I'm sure most of us understood what you meant. And it really is unbelievable how aggressive some women are ... I am not that type, but I do have a certain amount of admiration for anyone who knows what she wants and asks for it. The question really is how they do the asking: is it considerate or selfish, thoughtful or pushy, honest or manipulative ... and I really admire Marty's integrity and his uncanny, unwavering instinct for always doing the right thing. It's hard to believe he's for real, but he obviously is!

Amy and Cindy, thanks so much for the "famine relief"! Couldn't have come at a better time. My mind boggles at the thought of spending hours talking with Mr Casey. And okay, fell head over heels for this adorable pic of his sock and shoe! Is this cute or what!?

I still think Marty should look into being in an ad for Converse ... I used to have a pair of high tops years ago, and I loved them. I'm going out to buy at least one pair!
