For weeks i have watched Rockstar INXS - from start to the finale. Since week 1, Marty Casey, A truly talented artist, emerged with spellbinding performances that captivates the audience and blow their minds out. He is a truly versatile artist - from classic to modern rock songs - he can make the best out of it. For the first time i can say, i have seen the greatest performer. Marty had been and will be ... a Rock Icon.
Would you agree?

Well, you came to the right place to talk about The Greatest Performer in the Greatest Rockshow - there are 1863 of us here that totally agree with that assessment. Welcome to the board!

It's debatable to be sure but in my mind having seen what I have seen so far.....with Marty and the Lovehammers having a huge future ahead of them.......... I'd say Marty AND Dino, Bobby, Billy have what it takes to ALL be some of the greatest rockstars and one of the greatest bands in recent history..........they can more than hold their own against any band in existence today........... Not just because I'm a big fan....but more so because of what they bring to the table in song writing, composition, presentation, synergy with each other......all the things that make it work for them......... True Rockstars...........cheers guys..........

Welcome to the MC.org board! You are DEFINITELY not alone in your feelings about Marty! You will find a lot of people over here whose lives have actually been changed by him. And if you think he's great just from watching RS, wait until you see him and LH in person.

I gotta second wendy here, nothing compares to seeing Marty + LH live. It is truly one of the most amazing experiences! And, welcome to the boards!

Marty is a real artist....someone who can sing, play instruments, write songs and breath life into old songs. JD OTOH needs a band of the quality of INXS to carry him along...plus JD usually swears every other word....real classy stuff{not}.

I have to agree with you, simonjackson ... I've been re-watching RS (have to get my Marty Fix somehow!) and it is interesting to see the interactions between the singers now that we know the outcome. JD seized every opportunity he had to undermine his housemates. He has the right voice for INXS, but I think Marty's assessment of JD as "psychotically clever" after he sabotaged the songwriting clinic is right on target. Marty handled himself with class all the way through, but at the same time he wasn't afraid to show his true feelings or stand up for himself when he needed to ... and he was consistently thoughtful and intelligent.
But one thing ... Marty curses, too, especially during "Throw My Head", so don't be surprised by a few off-color words when you see LH live. He just has the brains not to do it on TV.

I agree Wendy....Marty is smooth, whereas JD is tacky and "was" desperate to win at any cost.....I'm surprised we didn't see more psychotically clever tactics from him.
And as for the profanity......you're right, swearing on TV{potential for a general audience of any age} is close to moronic, but we all know rxstars can be excessive, but at least Marty does it to "his" adult audience.
I'm not into gratuitous profanity, but have no problem with a timely remark, LOL.

It really was "Rock & Roll Survivor", wasn't it? There's always one troublemaker in the bunch. Mark Burnett is a very smart guy. His shows are as much about human psychology as anything else, which is what makes them perversely addictive ... much more so than American Idol.
The more I hear and see of Marty, though, the more impressed I am. The three part, one hour phone interview over at the Sisterhood board is incredible. You're right to call Marty an artist. His whole approach to creativity and performing, and his honesty and willingness to share himself are amazing (with apologies to Brook Burke!).

Marty is a very smart guy, and it couldn't have been easy for him in Rxstar, as even he knew he wasn't exactly out and out INXS material......I must say it would have been interesting to see INXS now if they had chosen him. Rxstar was the best reality TV I've ever seen, and in another league compared to any Idol series{except for Australian Idol One,....... plus over a period of time, Idol does produce some decent performances, just not lately, LOL}

Yes, it's funny how INXs kept on trying to take the performers out of their "comfort zone" and yet they themselves stayed in their comfort zone by choosing JD! I also think that JD fits in with them better just on the basis of his looks, and that he blends in with them.
Marty has such a commanding stage presence, and between that and the blonde hair, he really stands out from them. He is truly a LEAD singer, and I can see why they wouldn't be comfortable just following him.

He is truly a LEAD singer, and I can see why they wouldn't be comfortable just following him. This is the problem with trying to join a group of stars instead of an unknown band. I had no idea of what sort of success new INXS would have, so I was thinking that chosing Marty could have either bombed or ripped as HE was so distinctive. JD was really just a pretty Hutchence clone that was discovered in time for INXS's next move{they'd tried other singers before him}......but JD isn't even a real rocker, he's more of a R&B type of singer, more soul than rock....his rockstar side is fake....but there's nothing fake about Marty.

Absolutely right! Nothing fake about Marty. JD came across as someone who was impersonating a rockstar .. oh, wait, that sounds familiar ... can anybody here spell E-L-V-I-S? Really, I don't want to bash the guy but after watching all the RS episodes, there's no question that there is a "night and day" quality between the two of them. Marty is the real deal. He has confidence in himself and in his art. JD is a poseur. He has talent, but it is buried under all his insecurities.

Welcome to the newbies. I am laughing, simonjackson, at the "at least marty does it to his adult audience" comment. I guess you know where my mind is at. back to asylum with me! BTW, there are lots of Aussie fans in the Assie thread, too -- look under Newbies and feel free to join in. ~c

JD swears in a failed attempt to sound like a bad boy rocker type. Thanks chk...I'll check it when I can.
