So Psyched!
The band is so pumped for the upcoming tour. We have a total of about 30 shows in all and the rest should be confirmed today. This leg is predominantly from the midwest out to the east coast and back. This is our first headlining tour and we have been working for the opportunity and it's great to see it happening. The second leg will be from the Midwest out to the west coast and that will take longer because of all the great cities we want to play in.
The video contest on martycasey.org is in the voting stage and I think everyone should log on and see the amazing fans put their talents to work. I was blown away by the creativity. The videos are from all different age groups and varying styles from video montages, picture montages, storylines to kid kereoke. Check em out.
This weekend is the Lovehammers annual trek up to Summerfest for a big nighttime show on the shores of Lake Michigan. We having been playing the fest for years. We started out doing the sidestage at noon and now we have a primetime slot on the mainstage. These shows are always killer. We get to hang out afterwards with all our friends and fans. That is the best part.
LA has been a great adventure and it was nice to come back to Chicago for the 4th of July. I do miss being home. Now I got my fill and am ready to travel again. I knew it was time to get out of LA when I attended the Sidekick 3 party at the Hollywood Paladium and saw just about every tabloid junkie strutting around TRYING to make a scene to get some attention. Paris, Nicole Ritchie, Snoop and Jessica Simpson each in a seperate corner posing it up for the cameras. I did talk with Travis Barker from Blink 182 and he was really laid back and cool. Talked about music and what was going on with our bands. Besides that conversation, nothing felt real. It felt like a strange dream. I knew it was time to get out of LA LA LAnd and get back to reality. Boom - Tour. Kicking off this leg of the tour will be a gig at the ROXY with Dave Navarro and Panic Channel. Someone told me that tickets were free at the MSN Rockstar site. I hope that is the case.
I finished another song with producer Staci Jones from American Hi-Fi and Veruca Salt. The tune is one of the best new ones and I can't wait to play it live. It's a soaring mid-tempo rock anthem. We had a blast writing it. I have also been writing with Mike Rocco for his bands (Plunge) new record. Marti Frederickson, Rocco, Suzi McNeal and myself sat down at around midnight, drank some wine and just put together ideas for a song. It turned out stellar. So much fun kicking back and writing. It is absolutely one of my favorite things to do. It's fun and you feel a great sense of accomplishment when you finish.
Well, that's it for now. Thanks for all your continued support. We miss seeing all of you and can't wait to get to put it on live 5 days a week. It's what we absolutely love to do.
