This could be a really fun thread, but it stems from a question I have had for a long time. On RS: INXS, when Marty sings "Wish You Were Here", you can see so much emotion (god isn't he delectable), but at the very end of his performance he is noticably trying to contain his emotion. Has he ever said anything about that performance and what/who (Besides me) he had on his mind? BTW, Hi everyone! It's a clinic, and I'm in it

If the blogs from last year's show are still available, you can see what he wrote about it. He said that all sorts of scenes from his life were flashing before his eyes like holograms.

Thanks for the tip! Here is his qoute if anyone else was curious or had forgotten.
"As the song progressed I started getting more and more emotionally involved with the lyrics. It took everything I had to hold it all together and be a professional. I saw snapshots of my life flash before my eyes like a hologram and I had to stop them before they tore me up. It was a deeply personal moment for me that happened to be viewed by millions of people. This is truly one of the greatest moments of my life." Marty Casey - on singing 'Wish You Were Here' by Pink Floyd on Rock Star INXS.

Thanks for the memories legaleagle I remember watching and wondering what was going on with Marty... You could see there was some emotional energy happening. At the very end Marty pulls away covering his eyes. Tears were streaming down my eyes Every time I listen is emotions start to build so there is no forgetting this moment in time... What a gift and what a man

Alright...this is going to be really corny...but bear with me....
When I heard/saw Marty sing "Wish You Were Here" on Rockstar, I was incredibly moved beyond words. Not only because of his rendition and emotion but that is the song that my FOURTH grade son, Sawyer, sang in his elementary school talent show. I will never forget that night -- on stage with his guitar playing a Pink Floyd song for all the audience- at the age of 9, everyone was on their feet, cheering for my son. It was dead silence through his performance and he was absolutely incredible. It was one of my most incredible nights of my life. SO when Marty sang it, I relived every moment.
Fast forward to July, 2006...MC and Lovehammers in concert in Lincoln, NE....I am there, 3 feet in front of Marty when he starts to sing "Wish You Were Here" and I am singing it as if there is no tomorrow, remembering my son and his performance, and Marty looks right at me and we are both singing it together and it was almost a religious experience for me. I felt like we were both connecting on some bizarre level. It was a moment I WILL NEVER FORGET...I wish Marty could of heard my son sing it that song.
That night in Lincoln and what I felt at that moment will never go away for me.
Sounds stupid, but it was amazing.
Does Marty have any way of knowing what he brings to people's lives with his music and his "being"....what an impact he has made to mine.
THANK YOU!!!!

Marty's goal is to do just what you described, although your experience sounds particularly special!!!
He said this somewhere recently (I can't remember where I saw it):
"I continue to work hard and blow your minds with every performance. I hope that any influence I may have is a positive energy and incite you to take some risks and make good things happen for yourself."

That's a great story and if you ever get the chance, I hope you can tell Marty. What a cool son to be playing Pink Floyd at the age of 9!
