Jaws Music) Da Na....Da Na......DA NA..DA NA.. DA NA...... AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! It's only 5 days away. All of the travel planning, arranging, ticket buying, set-up, build-up and maneuvering have been completed. Now it's time to enjoy the ride. The band is really excited about this historic event. Hammerheads from all over the globe getting together for a weekend of fun. It's cool to hear that friendships that have been developed over the web are going get to meet in person and hang out in the flesh. I know that it has taken alot of energy and thought in order to make your trip to Chicago happen and i guarantee that we are doing everything we can to ensure that it is worth all your energy. Jessica Robinson will be playing with her band, my very close friend Dan Darrah will be jamming with his band Hotel 45 and we will have friends stepping in and jamming with us throughout the night. The last time I have been this excited about a show was on Thankgiving Eve when we played at the Metro last year. There is a great vibe at the Metro and for those of you that have never been there, you are gonna love the sound and the stage.
I have been in Los Angeles for the last two weeks writing a recording some demos of tunes that I have written. I like to keep pushing ahead with the songwriting because when we get the green light to start recording the next record I want to have the best tunes ready to go and focus on the recording process. Many of the fan are asking when the next record will be coming out. I will try to give you an understanding of how this part of the recording industry and major labels work. Each album released goes through what is called a cycle. the different parts of the cycle are writing the songs, recording the songs, mixing and mastering the songs, then you usually have three months of promotions prior to the album being released. When the album is released you tour and support the record on the road from anywhere between 1 or 2 years. After that it is time to write and record a new record. We released our record about 9 months ago. We have been through a slightly different version of the album cycle because we allready had most of the material on MC & LH recorded and we needed to get the record out in time for the tour with INXS at the beginning of the year. I can't believe how quickly we got it done and out there. The record is still selling really well as people hear about the band or hear one of our songs and fall in love with the record enough to go out and purchase it.
Many of you have asked me why INXS got dropped from Sony/Epic and I don't have an answer for you. I have no idea why Sony dropped them. But I do know that their unfortunate situation does not in any way reflect our relationship with Sony/Epic. My deal with the label is completely independent from them. I am sure they will get picked up by another label or independent and do just fine in the future. It is just a temporary setback for them.
I am working very hard at expanding my brain and making a new record that is better than anything you have heard from us before. I want it to really blow you away and become a part of your life. I feel like this is my first opportunity to take what I have learned over the last two years and turn it into music. There will be highs and lows and the beautiful landscape in between reflected in the songs. I feel I have become a better songwriter and have alot to talk about after all of my crazy experiences. After so much touring, the band has become tighter than ever and I'm sure you will be amazed at the muturity of the musianship.
I wanna thank you all for the birthday wishes. I received so many great gifts and cards and you really made me feel good with all the positive sentiments and personal stories. A special shout out to Amy for the wonderful hand made card and also getting all of the cards together for me. That was such a sweet idea and I really really appreciate it.
Thank you for allowing me and the band into your life and encouraging us to continue doing what we love. We are overwhelmed by the loyalty and support you provide us. I'm psyched that Hammerjam is right around the corner because it's time for all of us to touch base and celebrate the band, the fans, the music and the night. We all deserve to let loose and have a great weekend with friends.
Lots of fun stuff on the horizon in the next month or so. We are always working to keep things exciting.
See you this weekend.
