I've always found it both a fascinating (from a psych point-of-view) and terrible fact that madness (including drug use as they are so often linked to mental illness in some way) and genius so often go together...espeically in the arts.
(Rockbeast, a classmate of mine was supposed to go to that concert but his mom saw one of Nirvana's music videos and told him couldn't go cause he was too young...you're so lucky you got to see Kurt perform live before he died - so are you sheowl.)

yes...thats my boy. he was a little over 2 1/2 years old in that pic. *sigh* he will be 5 on Monday. I was almost 35 when I had him...wasnt intending (or supposed to be able to) have kiddles, but it was my greatest acheivement. Right now I am patting myself on the back for finishing wrapping up about 15 different "star wars" toys to give him for his b-day. Last year his obsession was anything that had to do with pixar's "Toy Story" gads...how they grow up so fast!!

tookskye - I wonder if its because those that suffer from melancholia are so sensitive and introspective that they are able to describe the human condition in their art in such a way that the whole world can relate to it. I dunno...I probably am just rambling. I have suffered from chronic depression in the past and some of my best artwork and poems have come from times that I was just wallowing in it.
