We all know that everyone here is a BIG Marty Casey fan, so I thought maybe it would be fun to see what hobbies or other obsessions we all have! I have a ton of hobbies, but I won’t bore you with all of them----so I’ll just tell you my major one. I restore classic cars and my “baby” is my 1966 Pontiac Tempest Custom. My love of cars started from the day I was born. I grew up in a car family and when I saw that General Lee on T.V. when I was five years old….I was in LOVE…LOL!!!

Okay, I tend to get a bit evangelical about my obsession with astrology so I won't bore anyone here with it.
I love writing ...love it, love it, love it!
My kids...they rock!! Seriously they are awesome.
I love being a rugby mum, a sideline screamer...being at the park on a frosty Saturday morning watching my son and his teammates take to the field with heart and commitment...nothing like it.
Actually, rugby is one of my obsessions. It is our national game and there are none more dedicated in our nation than the Canterbury Fans. WooHoo go the Crusaders!!
Reference Books...I am a reference book junkie. Which goes hand in hand with my puzzle addiction. Crosswords and logic puzzles, anything that makes my brain go "ouch!".
Hanging with my daughters, great conversations with my friends and I really, really dig my job.
Generally, whatever I am into, I am obsessive about. (Its a sun/pluto thing)

Hi all,
Robin, great car! My partner, Mick restores old Fords, he has a 1934 Roadster, 1936 Coupe & a 1956 Sunliner.
I breed and show Welsh ponies and am into listening to all sorts of music.
If I knew how to post a picture I would and I could show you some of my ponies.
Cheers, Helen.

Hobbies? Obsessions? Outside of this fan site??
Ok. I do like to read. Mostly the classics. Big Jane Austen fan here. But my favorite genre is satire. I think Candide by Voltaire is one of my all time favorite reads.
I also like vintage jewelry. I hit the local antique malls and consignment joints fairly regularly looking for cool finds. Now I am not talking about antique things...I am talking vintage, as in 20-35 years ago.
I do spend a lot of time online. eBay and Amazon.com are always a blast. And I read a lot of news sites and magazines online too.

Hmmm, Hobby/obsession aside from Marty???, I remodel homes. I do everything from tile, paint, building decks, walls, plumbing etc. you name it! even the sewing for all the drapes. I find it quite funny sometimes when I do have to hire outside work and they talk to me like I'm a dumb blonde and then I start asking all the technical questions and they get quiet real quick. I've love to read!! that is how I learn to do everything, and I also like to read suspense/murder novels, by authors like Patricia Cornwall, James Patterson, etc. I am currently looking for a new author to read.

I'm seeing a bit of a trend here. I too have a book obsession and am very focused on my son's sports life.
Books- have a great library of mostly non-fiction and classics. I'm always on the hunt for additions to my collection.
Crossword puzzles- love them. It gives me something entertaining to do as a cart my kid around (although he will be driving soon and I will be given a break)
Fencing- the sport- my son is a fencer and almost all of our "vacations" are spent at tournaments. He fences foil, but I am a fan of all three weapons.
Painting- I'm an artist and couldn't survive if I couldn't create.

ooh yeah. My husband and I are crazy for Formula 1 too. And Mad For Marty you are so right. The fencing venues aren't freezing. When my son played baseball (boys of summer?) he once played a game with his ski coat and gloves on and we had thermoses of Hot Toddies in the stands. I feel for ya. The kids are so worth it, but sure does take over ones life.

ALRIGHT, DAYCREEK!!! GIMME FIVE!!! When I moved here from Europe nobody gave a damn about F1 here, I felt like....what? I turned my sweetheart into a rabid fanatic and we enjoy many a Sunday rooting for our teams. I am a Ferrari fan since 1982 (guess which part of Europe I am from??) I felt that here in the US racing is very...unsophisticated and blue collar, while in Europe is the other way around. But things may change, you never know...

Hmmm, Hobby/obsession?, I remodel homes. I do everything. I love to read!! that is how I learn to do everything, and I also like to read suspense/murder novels, by authors like Patricia Cornwall, James Patterson, etc. I am currently looking for a new author to read. Oooo, good hobbies. Restoring homes is my closet dream--I'll probably never be allowed to buy one though so I settle for fantasies. I once helped restore an old very grand theatre which was one of the best adventures of my life. I'm not familiar with your mystery authors, but my favorites run to Dorothy's: *Dorothy Gilman of Polifax fame, but I like Nun in the Closet, and Clairevoyant Countess as well or more; *Dorothy Sayers the Grande Dame of Mystery writers (move over Agatha) who brought us Lord Peter Whimsey (who is hot and could so be played by Marty!!). *And another Dorothy who I can only find at the Public Library cuz I know what shelf she's on and I can never remember her last name. These are not the gory slasher type mysteries. They are more studies in human nature with a few humorous bits and a suspenseful twist or two. My obsession is gardening which sucks cuz I'm a renter. I spend hundreds of dollars in each new place--just like a junky getting a fix--which inevitably leads to my plants being mowed by a clueless groundskeeper, or bug spray on my veggies, or some other massacre. I used to go camping and hiking but I don't feel too safe doing that on my own. I do head out to the country or beach and sometimes sleep in my car if the drive is too long. I love the smells and sights of Mother Earth. I am also a student of the I-Ching. And I like to dabble with Tarot, but I suck at it since I have a crap memory. I still like handling the cards and looking up the meanings to try and get a different perspective on my worries. I am also obsessed with data. I love researching and learning about random stuff. Cars: My baby is my 2005 Scion Xb which has already taken me to the beach several times. Sleeping in the back isn't too comfy, but waking up to the ocean at dawn makes up for the neck cricks. Now all I need is a built-in espresso machine and I'll be in paradise (Xhibt where are you). ;D

I'm a single mom and a teacher, so my time is my greatest commodity. My best times are spent with my son. I also love walking at the beach and promoting political action and citizenship. Reading and writing rank pretty high on the list too. So much to do, so little time to do it...so live life on full tilt!

Giving Five back to Asthmaticagnostic
I became Obsessed with F1 in 1985. So I just missed Ferrari'a great run, but I was thrilled when they came back strong. My son has a huge Ferrari flag, that we got on a trip to Italy, as his window covering. I gives the coolest red glow to his room. I started out as Ayrton Senna fan and was crushed when he died. I was in France at the time and couldn't read the press. I live in Seattle and had friends trying to gather info for me in English. We here in the states seem to prefer drivers who just turn left. lol. I love a good chicane.

Hobbies? Obsessions? Outside of this fan site?? Ok. I do like to read. Mostly the classics. Big Jane Austen fan here. Have you read George Elliot? Mill on the Floss has become a thematic backdrop to my world view. No I have not read Mill...but Middlemarch is a fav of mine. I also dearly love Edith Wharton: Ethan Frome is one of my favorite books. It is to American Lit what angst filled grunge rock is to Rock and Roll. Also here comes one of my weird literary connections.... the first time I heard Trees and saw the lyrics that a fan emailed me.... it resonated to me with the final few paragraphs of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. At that point, Mr. Casey had my undying appreciation for his songwriting abilities as I think the ending of The Great Gatsby is one of the most brilliant and beautiful things I have ever read. "....And as the moon rose higher the inessential houses began to melt away until gradually I became aware of the old island here that flowered once for Dutch sailors’ eyes—a fresh, green breast of the new world. Its vanished trees, the trees that had made way for Gatsby’s house, had once pandered in whispers to the last and greatest of all human dreams; for a transitory enchanted moment man must have held his breath in the presence of this continent, compelled into an aesthetic contemplation he neither understood nor desired, face to face for the last time in history with something commensurate to his capacity for wonder. And as I sat there brooding on the old, unknown world, I thought of Gatsby’s wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock. He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity beyond the city, where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night. Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter—to-morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And one fine morning——
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." ------ Another literary connection with Trees: can you say Shakespeare's Green World?

daycreek! You live in my favorite city in the world!
I saw Ayrton twice in 88 and 89 in Imola, and was glued to the TV when it happened. He was a mystery to me, but his driving was legend.
I always love and support Ferrari-the-Car and admire Schumi, but I never liked his personality because he bashed t He used to be a J.D. in a tracksuit. Now he has calmed down with age, but everything in the business hates his guts.
Now we learn that Kimi is the Successor to the King...hmm..
