for those of you who have talked with me and others my oldest daughter is 9 and has a disease called mld she was admitted to the hospital tuesday the 25th down in indianapolis because she was dehydrated and malnurished.she had a swallow study and it showed that solid food went down whole and into her airways so the docs were worried that she would pnuemonia from it.we made the decision and thursday the 27th she got a g-tube attached to her tummy which is a feeding tube and now she can only eat formula through this tube several times a day but she can drink nectar through a sippy cup to give her taste but thats it.its not pretty to look at and it kinda looks like she a air spout next to her belly button like shes a beach ball but shes sore right now and trying to tolerate the pediasure so please pray for her that she will gain weight and get alittle stronger b/c she is weak and really skinny right now she weighs 38 pounds and should weigh 60.thanks for everyones support and you all are the greatest.love to all update on my daugther: she went to the doc for her 2 week checkup and gained 6 pounds but she needs to increase her intake every few weeks til she gets 6 cans of pediasure.i just wanted to thank you all for your prayers b/c they are working and wanted to share our good news

You bet I'll pray for your little girl...moms always stick together to take care of kids, so I'll be praying for extra strength for you too.

Jan, My son has been sick since Wednesday with a high fever, and I have been worried to death over him. I can't imagine what you're going through -- a fever seems like nothing compared to what you're going through with your daughter. But I know that moms want to be able to make everything okay for their kids. It hurts us when they hurt and we feel guilty because we can't make it all better. There are a lot of moms on this board, so you're in good company. We'll listen when you need to talk. You stay strong, and she'll stay strong.

I am really sorry to hear about your daughter's medical problem. She and you and your whole family are in my thoughts. I know how hard it is to have a sick little one...as a mom, worry and concern doesn't begin to describe the feeling.
Just know that we are all pulling for her to get better. And you have plenty of friends here to talk to when you need to.

Oh wow! No mother likes to see her child sick. It must be especially hard with a sick child in the hospital with a feeding tube. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank GOD for modern medicine though. With all that we have going for us these days, I am sure she will be up and running again real soon.
