Hiya girls!!

We had a brilliant Christmas at the beach and the sun even come out for awhile on Chistmas Day. It has to be the coldest summer I can ever remember. Last night we were sitting on the patio with jumpers and socks on...although we were still drinking beer ;D ;D

Hey everyone,

Great photos Jet, your family is looking great and the beach looks awesome!!!
I think we have all your HOT weather down here in Melbourne. Since Christmas day we haven't had a day under 28 degrees and today is a stinking hot 42 degrees with a total fire ban so there goes all the BBQ's and fireworks for New Years Eve parties.

I hate this hot weather and so does my leg, it has swelled to twice its size and with every step the pain is extreme, just what I don't need. With this new medication I take to stop the seizures I hold alot of extra weight (fluid) and the heat really makes you feel awful when you are carrying extra pounds, life is so frustrating at present.

Poor little Epic is very unwell, I have had the vet to her 3 times in the last 12 days and he will be back again on Wednesday when we make the decision to get a specialist in or take her to the horse hospital about an hour away so she can be under 24 hour supervision so they can figure out exactly what the problem is. It is very hard seeing her unwell and so distressed as you all know she is my favorite and the only one I have left that is related to Charles. I am crying so much while I am typing this I can hardly see the bloody keyboard Please send happy healing vibes Epic's way as she really needs them at present, it is a little hard to describe what is wrong but when I know more I will fill you in.

I am going to take a photo of Marty (colt) and post it for you all to see what a gorgeous boy he has now turned into. He is the most beautiful color and has a coat like silk, unfortunately his attitude lacks a little and he will be gelded at some stage. I am hoping he will start to settle and he can remain a colt for a year or two but if not he will be gelded next winter. I can't afford to get hurt and he will still be beautiful as a gelding. But he is quite a handful and with Mick not at all interested in helping me at the horse shows I have to have horses I can control and do everything myself and with his attitude like it is now it just won't be possible.

Den, mate, I wish you were coming down here next week, I so need a friend at present and all mine are too busy with their own lives to be here for me to cry on their shoulders.
I got your awesome Chrissy present on Dec 27th, LOVE it all, it is quite funny as we now get the NFL almost live on Foxtel here in OZ and Mick has really gotten into it and we have been following the Colts progress so we know exactly that the New England Patriots are on top unbeaten 16-0. The mug is great for my hot chocolate, I don't have that card in my collection and the horsey keyring is beautiful, too pretty to use as a key ring but I will find some way of using it and I will always think of you. Sorry, your pressie isn't even in the mail yet, I am a little slack. Have had other things on my mind of late, I will get around to it eventually when I see something that I know you will love.

Anyway, not much else happening, just trying to stay cool from this horrible hot weather. I think I told you all that Charles is doing exceptionally well in New Zealand. His first crop of foals are now all on the ground and Bev, his new owner is absolutely thrilled with them, she says it is the best lot of foals she has ever bred and she has been breeding for over 30 years. He dropped 10 fillies and 3 colts. The one pure bred Welsh colt he dropped she has offered me at a very reasonable price as I lost my Charles foal but at present with the way my health is I can't take on any more horses so I haven't said no I have told her I have to wait until I see this specialist on February 7th and see if anything can be done with my leg before any more horse related decisions are made because as it stands at present I will most likely have to sell them all if nothing can be done to stop the pain.

Helen, our temps are the same except ours are in Fahrenheit. Right now it's 25oF Wish I could be there as well. You and your beautiful ponies sure are having a tough time. It was good to hear that Charles is doing well in NZ and sounds quite "busy" . Wish I could send some of the snow we are having here your way. How about a snow angel instead? I'll get Grandson Jack on it.

WOW,

What a stinking HOT NYE, the hottest ever on record for Melbourne and today, New years day wasn't much cooler. At 5 o'clock this arvo it was 37 degress on the back porch in the shade and over 43 degrees in the sun. It never got lower than 33 degrees overnight for all the NYE celebrations, the beaches were certainly crowded!!

Luckily a quiet night in my area for all the horses with the fire works and no friends had any horses go thru fences due to panic with the noises and commotion like last year when friends lost 2 foals due to running thru fences and breaking their necks due to fireworks. Some neighbours just don't think of other people and their animals.

Good news with Epic, she has started to improve, the vet will be back tomorrow but it looks like we have figured out what she has been allergic too and her symptoms are now starting to slowly go away and she is getting back to eating and drinking. Still not out of the woods yet but am keeping my fingers crossed we have the answer, only time will tell. Thanks for everyones positive thoughts and prayers, I am sure they helped I really hated seeing her in such distress, she is such a little angel and seeing her in pain has been very hard for me.

It is my mums birthday tomorrow, she is going to be getting a surprise dinner so I had better get some planning done.

Hope everyone had a great NYE and wishing all my fabbo friends an awesome 2008, I am sooo hoping it is going to be a much better year for me. I am trying to stay focused and positive, that is my NY resolution.

Finally got my email fixed, Den, I know I owe you a BIG one, so I will get onto it soon, I promise

Bye for now, finally a cool change has come thru so may get a little sleep tonight before the next heat wave rolls in on Thursday, I really feel for the animals in this heat, it is getting unbearable or I am just getting too old

Hey everyone,

It's been very quiet around here lately.

Just dropping in for a couple of reasons very quickly.

1. Epic is unfortunately not doing at all well again and it looks like she may be off to the Equine hospital sometime this week if the test results don't come back what we hope, she isn't a well filly.

2. Jet, very worried about you mate, have tried emailing you with no answer, hoping you and the family are OK with the MAJOR flooding that is going on right at your door step, please let us all know how you are if you can, and if you need any help. We down south are having heat wave weather and up north you are having non stop rain, the world weather certainly is changing. The news coverage we get shows your area in really bad shape and with more bad weather still to come. I am hoping you are on high ground. Keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers that you and the family are safe.

Thats about it, time for bed, getting on now to midnight and had a busy hot day with more hot weather tomorrow and the rest of the week. Have the horse dentist coming tomorrow so he may be able to help Eppy, will keep you all informed, her condition has everybody mystified which isn't good as finding the cure is extremely frustrating and I hate seeing her in pain. I think she will end up in hospital for a full body Xray etc, that is going to cost me a small fortune that I don't really have
