Some eBay tips:
Watch out for Snipers - these people wait until the last few minutes of the auction and try to outbid the highest bidder. Their success rate is pretty good, because the highest bidder feels (falsely) confident in their bid.
I suggest (as does eBay) that you bid your highest possible bid. If you're the high bidder now, you can raise your bid. No one else has any idea of what your highest bid is, so they don't know what to bid to outbid you. If the current highest bid for something is $10 and your top bid is $20, if the person trying to outbid you bids $15, ebay will automatically up your bid, so that you are still the highest bidder. Did that all make sense? This is the only way I know of to avoid the Snipers.
Good luck, ladies! There's less than 12 hours left now.

Wow My Shy, that is wonderful, thank you so much for that picture! Your the best! I don't understand anything about EBay, but I'm getting allot of good advice here, so thank you to everyone for that also. We just have to wait I guess, fingers AND toes crossed on this end. Later all....Nancy

Ceeje-- I've tried to explain that to them and I'm scared people that don't do ebay don't understand it's not like a regular auction. You explained it quite well..bid the maximum and then hope it works.
It's making me so nervous I can't stand it so I'm just waiting now with my toes and fingers crossed that whoever is doing the bidding knows what they're doing.
Is the bid on there now? Did they place the bid yet? Do you know?

Well, I've been the sniper and have been snipered (is that a word?). Really, there's no sure thing with ebay. I would wait until the last 10-15 minutes of the auction and bid the highest possible bid. You're less likely to get snipered that way. Also, get the phone number of someone who can make the bid in your place in case something happens and your computer won't work right! Computer failure leads to a lot of people losing auctions.

And stop worrying me more!.....Oh my....Love all...Nancy

No, Yak, someone had bid four times in a row, and now their bids are gone. Weird.

It's on there that they bid the wrong amount by accident or something. It's possible to rescind your bid under certain circumstances..
Look down near the bottom of the bid page and it says it there...

Hey all,
I am a major "ebayer"! DO NOT BID TOO EARLY!!!! You put your best bid in during the last minute. I usually wait until about 25-30 seconds left in the auction and put in my highest amount I'm willing to spend. That doesn't give the competition much time to up the bidding. The drawback is that you don't have much time to bid again either. But if your putting in your highest bid you won't need to worry about rebidding.
If you leave the competition 15 minutes they can round up more money and up the bid; then your out cause you have no more money. By the way buyers can retract bids.
I hope that makes sense.
Kari

Kari,
You are exactly right about a last minute (or second) bid. You just have to makes sure your computer is quick enough to handle it.
Also, your bid is only increased past the previous highest bid so sometimes you get off spending les $$$.
Hopefully it works for us!

Yeah, the big thing is how fast your computer is. If your computer freezes up or is slow, last minute bids might not go through in time.

I say bid one million dollars, then deal with Dan's collection policy... (hey, it could work)
