Hey all, As some of you know.........or don't know........ I like to try my hand at writing lyrics and songs. I post them on my MySpace blog. I've got a handful on there and about a dozen more I'm working on right now that I've yet to post. If you have the time I'd really appreciate it if you could have a look and let me know what you think. Thanks everyone for all the feedback.
It is encouraging.........I've got two new ones on the go right now.........
One is about violence and how it is portrayed through media such as movies and tv and the influence it has on our young members of society.
The second is a song I'm writing for my Wife.

Wow, Stil, I liked "Whispers ..." I enjoyed the various images/situations your "dead man" would be whispering from. The dreams chorus was especially strong for me.
If I have any problems with it, it would be these:
1 - Is it the dead man who is clinging and now letting go of the son or does the son somehow have to give the man permission to die? I thought the first, but these lines " love you so please let me go ... Will you free me ... There's a dead man begging you ... Let me go" seem to create a second idea. At least for me.
and
2) I wish I could hear this with music! :-) I kept trying to put some sort of music to it as I was reading it!

Thanks Key.............the confusion was on purpose...........to me it is both.......at first the dead man couldn't let go.........then he felt he had done enough and he wanted to move on in contentment..........but the son is hanging on. Everyone will interpret it in their own way............that's the beauty of songs. There is definitely music.............for now though I'm having fun just posting the lyrics. I'm simply having a great time writing these songs. |

Wow, stiletto. Very intense indeed. I got all teary just at the lines about the children just wanting to play with their friends just like it was another day.

I'm going to continue writing lyrics but will also be focusing more on developing the music accompaniments. I have music for all the songs and am enlising the aid of an accomplished group of musicians to finally 'really' finish the songs. This is a serious hobby for me but I'm not looking to perform (at least not on a full time basis). I've no agenda or timeline..........I don't reaaly care how long it takes..........I'm just enjoying the process. When I finally do get some things recorded I'll throw up a music page on myspace. |
