Posted by chastity72 Hi, all. I know I'm slow on the draw with this one. But I don't get a chance to get on the computer much. Just wanted to shout out that the Philly show at the Tower Theater was great. The band did a meet a greet after the show and signed everyone's CD liners. About half the joint that showed up was in that line. Marty actually grabbed my hand and said 'thank you so much.' But maybe I should save the rest of that for the squee forum--haha. What a great time though. I hadn't heard anything of the CD prior to that night, and I really enjoyed everything I heard. 'The Riddle' and 'Rain on the Brain' are my favorites.
Okay we can get back to the now. Just wanted to throw that one out there

Since I haven't seen any Philly reviews from any of our board members I thought everyone might be interested in very good reviews I read from Inxs fans who also enjoyed LH. I believe the last one is from CT not Philly.
(1) I was 5th row pitt. Here are some of my highlights: Philly REALLY was into the Lovehammers.
(2) The band sounded good and Marty is an excellent performer on stage. Their music sounded much better live (not as "hard"). At one point, Marty jumped off the stage, went up the aisle and climbed on a chair to sing. He also sang his last song shirtless. He's better looking in person but very thin, as has been reported. I don’t know if that’s his natural build or if he just needs to eat more. I only recognized Trees (which I liked better than on the show) and Ring of Fire. There seemed to be many Lovehammers fans in the audience. The theatre was about 2/3 full when they started. A lot in the audience (though not all) were standing, mouthing the words and dancing up close to the stage. Marty told the audience that the LH would be meeting people and signing stuff in the upstairs lobby after the INXS set was finished and said they wanted to meet “each and every one of us”. He thanked INXS for giving the LH such a big break and said something to the effect that when he was asked to open for them on their world tour, he said “hell, yeah!” He also thanked people for getting there early to see them perform. I always feel bad for opening acts if the theatre is half-full, but there was a decent size crowd there at the start of the concert. I thought that Marty and the LH did a great job.
(3) We missed at least half of the Lovehammers set because traffic was hellacious, and by the time we got to the Tower, we were in serious need of some drinks. And, let me tell you, once we got to our seats, I was as sorry as hell that we had missed so much of them. They were near perfection...I'm actually now sorry that it looks like they won't be touring with INXS once this leg is over. I was not expecting to enjoy them as much as I did, but they brought back memories of the bands that I liked in my college years...yet, they took it to the next level. They're not too hard on the eyes, either. Marty is a little skinnier and paler than I usually enjoy these days, but his stage presence is on point. I even got a little giggly when he looked at me! Who knew? And my friend, who is not easy to impress, dove after one of Dino's picks like a lion pouncing on a lame gazelle. Good times.
(4) Meeting Lovehammers Fans
I got to the theater about half an hour before the doors opened and, while waiting outside in the cold, ended up speaking to one of these two Lovehammers fans who were also waiting out front. How did I know they were Lovehammers fans? They were passing out Lovehammers pins and pens (with the Lovehammers website url) to everyone who came up to the door. They were also talking up Marty and the Lovehammers to everyone. One had long blonde hair (very pretty) and the other had short brown hair. The blonde asked me if I would wear a Lovehammers pin, but I said "no - I don't wear pins" (which is true) and also that I was an INXS fan (meaning I was there to see INXS), but I smiled and spoke in a friendly manner. However, I also said that I've never heard the Lovehammers perform in concert and was interested to hear them perform live (which was also true). Considering I had refused to wear a LH pin, the blonde was pretty nice to me. They're apparently from Florida and have been going to multiple concerts on the East Coast all week doing this same unofficial marketing thing for the Lovehammers. That's pretty impressive fan dedication!
(5) One thing on the Lovehammers...I was not a huge fan but OMG DINO the guitar player...now he's a slice of heaven! Just looking at him...he's a thing of beauty and he's going places...even if LH flop...he's one to watch! I got some incredible pictures of him that I placed on thier web site and everyone seems to be going nuts over them. Glad some people appreciate my work

The Tower Theater in Philad*****a wasn't tall enough to contain the the unriveled rocking power that is the talent of the lovehammers. They just put such a positive pow in their show that it cannot be matched by other bands. When they said they wanted to meet everyone up close, I thought it was just talk but they were serious! At the meet and greet afterward, they all signed our cds and Marty put his hand out to me to shake my hand, looked me in the eye and gave me a huge smile! I just thought they would scribbble something on my cd and move me on, but, instead, I felt like I had actually met future rock royalty!

I was also at the Tower Theater in Philly and I am still beside myself. When we walked in, I was amazed at how close we were to the stage. Second row pit seats were incredible. When Marty came onstage, it was the most surreal experience I think I have had. His presence was so overwhelming. When he sang Hold On, he crouched down and pointed in the audience and he was pointing directly at me. I made eye contact with him for atleast 10 seconds. It seemed like a lifetime, but was actually short. The lady behind me was hitting me saying MARTY SANG TO YOU!!!! As much as I like to believe he was singing to me, I know I was just the face he made contact with. BUT I felt he was singing just to me.
Anyways, the whole show was great. The way he was onstage and the way he moved and sang blew us away. He was more than I could ever have expected. I did not think it could get any better until he said he wanted to meet all of us after the show. I left INXS early to stand in line to meet him. Mind you, I had my mother, daughter, sister, and two other people with us and they were all so excited to meet him as well. When it was our turn, he was sitting behind this table with all of the other Lovehammers. I could not believe I was going to get to actually speak to him, I had no idea what to say plus I didn't want to sound like some wierdo. I did talk to him for maybe a minute but the one thing that stood out was when I told him I bought a Lovehammers tshirt, he looked at me and his face lit up and said Thank you so much for buying a shirt. I thought this guy was so nice and humble and very appreciative that I bought a tshirt. Plus that smile was priceless. Anyways, I just wanted to share this and say that my concert experience will never be forgotten and YES these guys are the real deal. I just hope they come back soon because I will pay any amount of money to get those seats back again.

I was at the show on Friday night as well ~ my sister and I were not as lucky to have second row seats...we were up in the lower balcony...but still, all the way up there the view was great and Marty & the band's energy really carried through. Several people sitting near us who hadn't yet been turned on to LH commented to me (since I was singing along to every song at the top of my lungs!) how impressed they were with Marty and the band, and many of them came back from the intermission with copies of the LH CD.
The meet & greet was worth every second of the wait. When it was my turn to talk to Marty, I didn't know what was going to come out of my mouth, and I know I must have sounded like a babbling idiot! I did ask him whether they would be coming back to Philly on their own and he gave me a very enthusiastic "yes, definitely...the crowd tonight was crazy!" He was so great, and seemed so genuinely interested in talking to everyone. I got to chat a bit with the other LH guys, and they were all just as cool and friendly as Marty.
So it's been two days and I'm already anxiously waiting for them to come back to Philly, and next time I hope to be MUCH closer than up in the balcony!

The Tower Theater show *ROCKED*!!! I got to meet them after the show also. I had previously bought the CD, but I bought another one just to be able to meet them! I told Marty that and he said, "You're such a sweetheart!" I thought they were all so nice...Billy looked and me and said, "Thank you so much for buying our CD..." I am so happy that I got to meet them and even happier that they're all so nice! Rock on Hammers!!!
