It took me a while to get around to posting this because I am very introverted but here it goes. I went to the Boca show. I travelled from Puerto Rico to attend the concert. Although the concert was at 8 pm, I went to the venue at 11:00 am and stayed there all day. After reading all the wonderful experiences of fellow Hammerheads here at MC.org, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the guys or (sweet dreams sweet dreams) meet them.
Sooo, there I was since 11 am and every one who was working to set up equipment etc... were looking at me like I was a weirdo...LOL. The green bus finally got there at around 3:00 pm (more or less), and there I was to 'welcome' them. As soon as they were parked someone opened a rear window and waved and said hi...I believe it was Bobby. The guys started exiting the bus sporadically, all very nice and friendly but clearly tired and trying to get some rest for the concert. They smiled, said hi, etc... it took me a while to get up the nerve to say something or ask for a picture. I finally got up the nerve to ask Bobby for a picture. He looked absolutely gorgeous in a white tank top...oh my god those arms... He was gracious about it and got like 2 or three pics with him (will post them soon).
The guys kept going in and out the bus and I could see Bobby, Dino, and Billy but no Marty. A very nice man who might have been Ted i think asked me if I was waiting for Marty and he told me Marty was not in the bus; he was having lunch with his sister and would be arriving shortly. So you all know I kept standing right there!! Sure enough in a few minutes a car arrived and I saw this blond gorgeous angel getting out of the car and everything FROZE. I could not believe I was looking at Marty. I don't remember doing anything (except maybe smile and gasp) but suddenly there he was, right in front of me extending his hand for a shake, smiling and asking where I was from.
I told him I was from Puerto Rico and had been waiting there since 11 am in case I might get to meet him, and he was surprised and gave me a really nice HUG at which point i mumbled something about the trip and the wait being totally worth it...then I noticed one of his necklaces which was a "kokopelli" and it surprised me because I have always had a "thing" for kokopellis and parts of my house are decorated by this cosmic traveler and I have earings and a necklace very similar to his...I was amazed and said so. He smiled and said it was a gift. For all I know it could have been a gift from one of you guys at MC.org .
At that point i noticed some other fans had gotten there and were beside us and one of them took our picture (thank you to whoever that was ). After the picture was taken, Marty told the kind lady who took it to "take another one" which meant not only another picture but a few extra seconds touching Marty
His sister and her husband were there too and they were very nice as well, smiling and saying they liked Puerto Rico a lot. After that Marty went inside the venue for what I think was a soundcheck. About a half hour later he came out again and I asked for another picture (this time with a digital camera thanks to a kind guy that I met there) cause mine were taking with a disposable camera. He was very nice about it and posed again. I told him how much I loved his music.
Now on to the concert: IT WAS AWESOME, amazing...just fantastic. They did Mr. Brightside, Eyes can't see, Straight as an arrow, hold on, this town, ring of fire, rain on the brain, the riddle (not in that order), and some more but I can't remember because it all went by in a flash. My pictures from the concert itself are worthless...don't know if it was due to the crappy camera or to all the jumping, dancing and screaming I was doing.
Right after the Lovehammers ended their set, I got up from my chair and went outside. I did not see INXS cause honestly I couldn't care less. All I had on my mind was LOVEHAMMERS, so I went outside and hung out beside the bus. Eventually the guys came out and started hanging out there with some fans. It was very nice. I got to talk to Dino for a long time. He is a sweetheart and way HOTTER than I had thought. He talked about his finger and how it was healing (said he couldn't feel anything on the outside but that inside there was a pain, so no fair , anyway we talked some and we "posted" some kind of message to the internet through his cell phone but I haven't been able to find it yet. He is really nice. From seeing us hanging out there for so long, Bobby asked if we were coming to "the party" ...so I asked "where is it?" ...he smiled and said "here" which was really cute. Later Marty came out but was there briefly. I got a last hug and he signed my t-shirt.
THE LOVEHAMMERS are AMAZING. They are not only genuinely talented ( I truly respect them as ARTISTS) but they are very nice people as well. They are all so honest, easy going. This was my first concert in 10 years and they made it a memorable one. I can't wait to see them again!!!!!!!
I could not sleep that night so I just laid on the bed listening to their music until it was time to get to the airport and leave. At the airport, several employees kept looking at me and smiling and commenting. I could not understand why, and I thought I had something weird in my hair or face... I was kind of doing a mental check to see if there was reason for embarrassment when a guy who helped with my suitcase told me "a smile like that is not seen much around here at 7:00 am on a Monday morning" LOL... so I guess my happiness was evident.
I can't believe i forgot to include one of the best parts. When I met Marty he noticed that I was wearing an mc.org wristband...he touched it and said it was nice that i had the mc.org wristband...thought you all might like to know that bit.
