7/8 Summerfest, Milwaukee, WI

Whooohooo! Had a blast in Milwaukee. Thought I'd type a bit before I go to work today while it is still fresh in my memory.

I met up with 'reddgt' also from my hometown, we carpooled there. We got along great and she is a fantastic person!!! We met up in Milwaukee with my cousin Tricia. We got there around 4:30 and went staight to the HOG stage. There was quite a crowd there already, lots of Seether fans waiting for their 10:00 show. We sat about 7th row, center. We had a blast chatting while waiting for Lovehammers. It rained for a bit. The lake was behind us, a beautiful view. At some point while another band was playing, I spotted Marty in the crowd off to the left of the stage. We went over there, he had a few around him. Marty was wearing white pants (!!!), red shirt, black jacket, black tie and sunglasses. Of course he looked great as usual. He didn't stay long, he got whisked away.

Once the Lovehammers came on, it stopped raining and Marty commented how nice it was that it stopped. They started with a bit of Ultrasound and played for 1 hour. They didn't start til 8:15. It was a fantastic show, lots of energy. Reddgt and I noticed how Marty seemed to change some songs around a bit (tone, pitch) to change things up a bit. It was a lot of fun. He really got the crowd involved. I can't remember what he was singing, but Marty came out across the metal benches right between my cousin and I!! He past us by 2 benches and sang a bit. I took pics and will hopefully get them in a day or two. I will send them to Amy and Cindy to post. He came back by us, back up to the stage. Marty mentioned how he would love to climb the crane (in the background by the lake), but he was warned not to climb. We didn't see any structures for him to climb on stage, thank goodness!!! They ended with Trees and the crowd was signing along loudly.
Somewhere towards the end of the show he announced they would do a meet and greet.

We found where they would be doing the meet and greet, a tiny T-shirt tent next to the stage. Security guards brought Marty to the tent, it was a crazy scene!!! They had nothing set up, no ropes or anything. People were approaching the tent from all directions, it was nuts. Security had us all move left, then right, then back again. I thought for sure they'd shut this down. It didn't last too long....maybe 20 - 30 minutes?? T-Bone was there and announced it would only be a couple more minutes, they had to get them out of there (before Seether started?). Thank goodness I made it through. It is LUCKYDJ'S 40th B-day today (Lovehammer fan from NJ) and I wanted the boys to sign her a b-day card. Bobby was first and of course adorable!! He asked what her name was, and signed it. Marty was next. Okay....I have to say it was a very crazy, rushed scene. You get the chance to meet a guy you think is the greatest and I'm sure I sounded like a loon!!!! I said something about how he (Marty) has something that 99.9 percent of the population doesn't have, but he does. I said something like how wonderful he is as a performer...blah blah blah. You feel like you have to speed talk since the crowd is being rushed through. I don't even remember if he smiled or just looked at me like I'm nuts. I asked to kiss his cheek and he leaned over the table. So soft!!! Anyhow, then Dino signed the card. They were all just so adorable!!! Billy was last and all smiles. I told him how much we loved the show and he just was beaming. They all seem to be having such a great time. A minute later a swarm of security was around Marty taking him back.
I took pics of them at the booth, and hope these turn out.

Reddgt, Tricia and I strolled around the grounds a bit and relaxed. Later we decided to head back over to the HOG stage area and we see Marty about to leave from behind a fenced area. I quickly got to thank him for the show again....he then was walked out of the park with a few people.

I can't wait to read other stories....thanks for letting me share mine. If you have time, PM 'luckydj' and wish her a Happy Birthday!!! What a great website, such great friends are made!

My husband and I went to Summerfest last night to see the guys. We got to the stage around 6:30 and listened to some heavy metal-type band for a while. We were able to get seats near the front, about 4 rows back, a little to the right of the stage (in front of Billy). We got rained on a little bit during the heavy metal band's show, but it wasn't too bad - and then the rain stopped when Marty and the guys took the stage around 8:15.

Overall, we had a lot of fun. Marty looked great as usual. He was wearing the infamous white pants. Actually, slightly funny story - I was standing near a couple of other women. I never asked if they were on this board because I was embarassed to ask that in front of my husband, but I suspected one or both of them might be. Anyway, we spotted Marty standing on the other side of the fence by the stage. I could only see the back of his head. One of the women kept telling me to come over to where she was standing so I could see him, and I said that I could see him from where I was. She said, no, you have to stand over here so you can see what he's wearing. I didn't know what she meant, so I came over to where she was standing, and then I was like, "oh...the white pants." We had a little laugh while our husbands just rolled their eyes. Then I had to describe to my husband why the white pants were such a big deal. He he.

Anyway, the show was great. Marty was awesome, and I swear he seemed bendier and more spastic than usual. At one point he took off his black tie and threw it out into the crowd, but it was on the opposite side of the stage so I had no chance to catch it - very disappointing. In fact, another disappointing thing was that he left his t-shirt on the entire show. I'm not sure why he did that, but I'd like to formally complain. They played lots of my favorite songs, including Let's Get Wasted (or whatever the real title is), which I've never heard in concert before so that made me very happy. We didn't stick around for the meet and greet because it was really unclear where it was set up, and we had to move our car before 10:00. I still haven't met the guys, but someday I will, I hope. The cool thing about not going to the meet and greet is that everytime I miss out on the chance to meet them, my husband consoles me by saying that we'll be able to meet them at the next concert, and then I start making plans and buying tickets for the next concert.

That's all I can think of. I didn't remember to bring my camera, so I'm also looking forward to seeing more pics from the concert!

Another Summerfest story…

OK first of all, I had been soooo looking forward to this concert, finally being able to see the LH in person, and I had a huge ordeal getting there (car broke down half way there from northern Minnesota, and we actually pulled into a dealer and purchased another car) but it was worth every second of aggravation. We got there at 8:00 since we ended up spending 2-3 hours at the car dealer, so I kind of had to shove my way in and was standing on the right side of the stage. Unfortunately, when the guys came on, everyone stood up on the bleachers and blocked our view quite a bit. We could still see, but I was a little bummed that I did not get there earlier to get a better view. They looked and sounded so great though. I only wish they could have played longer…I had my husband, my son, daughter, niece and a friend with me, and they were loving it, especially my daughter and niece, who are now full fledge Hammerheads by the way…Marty and the boys sound so fantastic live, even though I didn’t have the greatest view, I was not a bit disappointed. When he came over to our side of the stage we got a few pictures, and then my camera died. My niece had her camera though, so she snapped the rest of the pictures (I will try to post them later). Anyway, the M&G was exactly as previously described, really crowded, security yelling at us to move back (which we couldn’t physically do because there were so many people) and very little room to actually form a line. Fortunately for my daughter, niece and I, we were pretty much right in front and when they started yelling about a line, we happened to be standing where they declared the front of the line was. My niece was the third person to get signatures, and got a huge smile from Marty and Dino. My daughter was stuck between a person and a garbage can, and when they were telling us to move, she was saying, “I’m stuck” and Marty looked over at her, smiled, laughed and waved at her. She called it her “moment” with Marty and totally melted when it happened. I was a couple of people behind my daughter, and got all of their signatures, but was kind of shoved away from Marty. I did talk to Dino and Billy for a few seconds though (who by the way, looked so hot up close) can’t really remember what I said beyond something stupid like “You guys really rocked” and “I’ll see you in Pittsburgh with my little girls who love you” but they both talked to me and gave me huge smiles and I was melting when that happened. I was telling my daughter that I may not have had a moment with Marty, but I had one with Dino…Anyway, even though the M&G was so crazy, it was so great to meet them up close. They look every bit as good in person, more so even. Yeah, the white pants….enough said. I can’t wait to see them in Pittsburg, and I am getting there way earlier this time.

Hello all!
I am brand spanking new here!
Was at summerfest last night and The
Pearl Room last weekend. Both shows so totally different but so amazing in their own ways.
I am clearly a huge Bobby fan and about fell over when Bobby came out before the show to serve as his own drum tech
I thought Marty sounded better than any other time I have seen them.
The meet & great was like we were a heard of cattle. I was lucky enough to get Bobby to sign a pic I had of he and I from Best Buy in TP. I passed it to him through the mob and he said "Right on, I'll sign this. Cool pic." Then he joked about the fact that he had the same shirt on. Needless to say I was swooning!

Thanks everyone for sharing all of your wonderful stories! The guys did absolutely rock!! It was my first time seeing them at an outdoor venue and it was so much fun!

I have to say that between the Pearl Room show and this show - half the fun of being at the concerts was meeting all of the cool hammerheads from all over the country. I won't try and name you all because there were just too many and I don't want to leave anyone out! But I loved every minute of it!

Oh and, I love the Love and Rockets T-Shirt!

Not a real review, but here are some things I posted in the asylum last night about the show.

The show was incredible. I just can't get over what a powerful performer Marty is. He just has the whole crowd in the palm of his hand the whole time...it's such a talent. There were a ton of people there to see Seether (who went on right after LH) and so many of them were rocking out to LHs. The kid next to me had never seen them before, but he was all arms up in the air, dancing, and woohooing the whole time LHs were on stage. They have it. They just have it.

Dino was all smiles, and was running all over the stage. Chi and I were in the front row on Billy's side, but Dino came over right in front of us quite a few times. The first time he yelled to us, "What's up motherf#$&*ers!" The second time he was making fun of Billy's hair. Awww...poor Billy. But they all looked like they were having a blast. Bobby kept...um...sticking his tongue out. Glrrrr....

Marty was mad-conductoring, jumping, slinking around... He did the whole, "I want you...to feel...what I feel....standing here in front of all of you...." thing during This Town. He didn't climb anything though. There was a HUGE crane out behind the crowd that Marty said he was warned not to climb...he said they must have heard stories about him. Heee...

He came over right in front of us and there was a security guy in the pit right there. Marty reached over and took the sunglasses right off this guy's head and put them on and just kept on singing. The look on the guy's face was priceless. Marty did go into the crowd at one point and when he came back, two security guys had to carry him from the crowd, over the pit, and onto the stage. So cute.

Chi and I did some street teaming before the show...it was fun. We passed out these magnets that she made and I think we got a bunch of people to stick around for LHs that might not have otherwise. Many people said they remembered him from the RS show.

I did not talk to the guys. Marty announced a meet and greet at the end of the show and said, "I want to meet each and every one of you." Hmmm...lots of people there, Marty.

It was total chaos though. No lines, just a mob scene. Chi and I decided not to go through. I just hope they aren't riddled with insecurity, though, having missed my usual in-depth analysis of their performance. ("Great show.")

The show was great! Everytime I see these guys play I'm blown away. Marty was in top form, I love the mad conductor moves! I met Billy and Dino earlier in the day. The crowd was just so into the music, everyone was in AWE!!! I met so many nice people there! I'm so happy for these guys, they are really doing well!
I also met Suzie McNeal from RS, that was cool!
