Why wouldn’t Jodie (jodieca) have time to write about that time she chased the Green Tour Bus through LA? Could it be because she has been doing what any sane fangirl should be doing -- following the band all summer?

That’s okay, because some of us remember EXACTLY where we were and what we were doing when we heard that Jodie was in a car hot on the trail of our beloved Lovehammers.

Here’s what I recall:

The Hammers had just made a great appearance on a LA radio station, promoting the new CD, their gig with INXS, and their show at Viper Room. All the fangirls and guys in the Asylum were listening in to see who would win tickets to the show…and to ooh and aah over hearing Ring of Fire played acoustic.

Suddenly fangirl #1, Penny74, gets a call from Jodie. She’s at the radio station… she’s on the highway… she’s tailing the tour bus.

What should she do?

The Asylum is going nuts, offering Penny lots of advice to pass onto Jodie, but Penny doesn’t need our words of wisdom. She knows exactly what to say: Follow That Bus! Which Jodie duly does for two hours. When at last the bus pulls over for gasoline, Jodie is in a quandary and feeling very nervous. What should she do next?

The answer turned out to be quite simple –follow the Hammers into the store. Was it Bobby or Dino she spoke to??? I don’t recall, but I do remember that Billy looked at her like she was nuts when she said she had followed them from LA! But the Kourelis boys invited her onto the bus to check it out and have a laugh. The Asylum went completely mental with the words “She’s on the bus!”

Jodie had her pic taken with Bobby, Dino and Billy, but Marty was sleeping in the back! Ayesa made a brilliant South Park pic to commemorate the occasion and Jodie is now referred to regularly by the Hammers whenever a reporter asks, “What’s the craziest thing a fan has done?’

I remember this vividly. I went on the board to hear about the radio interview and got caught up in a fangirl's dream come true. If you want to relive the madness, check out this thread. Jodie wins the tickets on page 10 and the tour bus chase follows shortly after.

OMG, that's what I get for writing from memory -- I got so many details wrong! It was Billy she talked to and Bobby..and it was Rockfan and Penny talking OJ-Odie thru the whole thing. Hysterical!
Thanks, Ceeje, for posting the link to that unforgettable day. It sure made the dinner conversation at my house interesting. My family knew that night that I was a goner!

OMG OMG

This is HYSTERICAL! Where did I miss the assignment to write this up?? LOL sorry my friends...actually, I couldn't do it justice, so y'all just have to click on the thread & read it as it actually goes...

A few things that I don't know were covered...

I was just *casually* calling in to KLOS radio (which I NEVER listen to) when I heard Marty was doing an interview. I wanted to call in & say "hey Marty! It's ME! the girl with the bedazzled Marty shirt from the show audience! LOL & then after 2 tries, I get through & win tickets for the Gibson show...I already had tickets. So I raced to the radio station & asked the front gate security guard "is the band still here?" he's all WHAT band? nevermind, I race in. I take pictures like a total goofball of the lobby where it says this:

I sign in, and then proceed to ask the security guard there if I could go see the band. He has no idea what I'm talking about & basically says sit down & be quiet, the band has left.
Next thing you know, he gets a call from someone, he's on speaker phone, & I hear "hi, I'm Ted, I'm with the Lovehammers & we were just there, I left a jacket inside" - I BEG the guard, please please PLEASE let me go give the jacket to them! He laughed (remember, Morgan Freeman style) & said sorry honey...
well then Ted walked IN & I went up to him, told him WHO I WAS (lol) & to please pass a message on to Marty. He ASSURED me he would ...
I was all excited, went out to my car, & then next thing you know, the bus is pulling out from the secret gate behind me. I eh hmm, *casually* follow them...and then the saga begins. This is what started the whole "did you see the bus?" series cuz now everyone knew what it looked like AND the licence plate...LOL (sorry boys)

It really was funny, in retrospect I think HOW retarded was I to do that!! But with the helpful encouragement of Rockfan & Penny, well...the rest was history. I still can't believe *I* did that (cough cough) but it was for all fangirls the world over... ha ha

And, according to all the guys, is still the craziest thing any fan has ever done.

*sigh* - way to live on forever in infamy.

To cap off an incredible experience, don't forget I was crowned (at the time lol) queen of all fangirls with a Southpark by Ayesa - I still to this day get comments on this picture weekly when co-workers & customers see it in my cubicle at work...thanks A!

(This ended up being longer than I thought - excuse the excess verbiage ...)

That was a day (read that saga) to remember! I followed the thread all morning (who was posting? was it Rockfan?) It was like following a So Cal police pursuit on Eyewitness News here. ;D

When I left the computer, Jodie had just caught up with them at the truck stop at the 10/15 Fwy interchange. I was headed toward an endodontist appt. which was just past the 15 in Corona and I was thinking about the whole "pursuit" knowing where they all were and realizing that I'd probably be crossing over the Fwy, about the time they were headed south toward the next INXS gig at Pala.

I did not see the green bus, but thinking about them all being right down the street at the same time I was getting my root canal took my mind off the wonderful task at hand. The next night at the Highland concert when we met the guys, I told Billy about it, we had a good laugh and he asked if it helped to think about them. I said, "You betcha! Better than Morphine..."

It must have been 1/25, because we saw them the next night at San Manuel.

Jodie set the bar high that day for Fangirls everywhere ... ;D True Queen material in my book...

I remember that day here at work, pretending to be busy and then the Asylum went nuts... I realized the way she was headed she ended up at a truck stop 2 miles from my house!! I was livid(at being 50 miles away at work stupid Cali commutes), laughing, and marveling at Jodie's nerve all at once ***hee hee***
I hung on the every post and couldn't believe the pics...two nites later I'm at Universal meeting up with some fangirls for the first time when in walks this tiny blonde in a white jacket and I keep staring at her wondering why she looked familiar...I met OJ-odie for the first time...the other girlies realized who she was too and the first fangirl superstar was born...what a ride...***big grin***
