I also joined in January 2006. You see I had been at www.teammigayesa.com and every so often Cindy would drop by and let us know what Marty was up to. I was always intrigued. Mig had been my fave but there was no news coming from Mig yet. Marty was my 2nd fave and I was excited to see the Lovehammers open for INXS at San Manuel Casion in Highland CA. It was 20 years to the month I had seen INXS so it was nostalgia for me--I did love their songs and after all they were the reason I started watching Rockstar in the 1st place--their back catalog. I was at a taping of Rockstar--saw the debut performance of Trees and that was my fave original by the Rockers that year. Well something happened at that concert. I WAS OFFICIALLY HAMMERED! I thought Marty came out with his arse on fire! The Hammers were gorgeous and rocked the house. I had trouble even concentrating on INXS during their whole set because Marty had announced they'd be doing a meet and greet after the show. Woot! I sent hubby to buy their CD, but they were sold out. Instead a nice boy names Jeremy gave him a photo for me to get signed since they had no CD's. I was like the 5th or 6th person in line, with Hubby behind me. I wasnt nervous at all and Marty was first up. I thanked him for making it one awesome summer for TV, and said how I enjoyed watching him "blossom" on the show. Cant believe I said the word Blossom - dumb a**! Anyhow he stood up and gave me a hug, and I floated on cloud 9 all the way down the rest of the line. I just remember Dino and Bob saying nothing--just signing my picture, and I think Billy asked me a question but I couldnt form sentences at that point after Marty's hug and I didnt respond and kept walking past Ted. And I remember Marty looked just like an angel, he happened to be sitting under this bright light, golden locks shining almost like a halo and he had this post show glow like you get after a nice aerobic workout. Hubby came behind me and said "great show" to each of them and shook their hands. I was smitten from then on. I immediately bought 2 CD's the next day, signed up for www.martycasey.org and went about meeting all the wonderful people here and immersing myself with as much knowledge about the band as I could get my hands on. This site has been a beautiful provider of "crack" for me, a wealth of knowledge and after a while, a warm and loving family. I have met my best friend here and traveled all the way across the country seeing 10 shows in the process. This has been the best year evah! Thanks Cindy and Amy!

Unlike a lot of you, I had been on message boards before and knew the power - for all those skeptics out there who believe Internet friendships aren't "real" --- well, they're just plain wrong!! From a grief/depression board that literally brought me back to life - to friendships and understanding found on a dieting site - to the Amazing People I have met here on MartyCasey.org I didn't join until I was ready to start making posts (after my first concert at Lincoln City Oregon in January 2006 - no one had posted a review, so I jumped in and did it!!) So, yeah, I was (and sometimes still am when I'm reading back posts) one of those infamous "lurkers" -- I found this site in September, I think - following a link from the MSN RS:INXS site. One of my early posts was in the Why Marty. . . Why Here?? thread (I was asking this question of myself a lot!!! - as were all my friends/family ) Here's part of my answer:
I have been lurking here at martycasey.org for quite awhile - enjoying reading all the great things - and admiring Cindy and Amy for all of their amazing hard work!! - and seeing how you all are forming these wonderful connections with each other - but not really feeling like I had anything to add - until the posts about noone reviewing the Lincoln City show yet - well I just had to jump in - and I've been posting here and there ever since!! And, checking back on the boards whenever I get the chance to see "what's new" - who's added to the posts I've responded to - what new poll or review or whatever there is to read (and special thanks to radioclash for giving us all the chance to listen to that terrific interview on the Mark and Brian show - and the Ring of Fire download - Love it!!!) Anyway - when I saw this thread - I just had to give a Big Shout Out to all of you - you've shown me by these posts that I'm in a very good space and definitely belong - I would have never guessed pre-"Marty Love" that I would be going regularly to Karaoke nites at the local bar and singing my heart out (don't have a great voice but people are sayin' they like what they hear!) or cast in a play where I actually get to SING old tunes from the 30's, 40's or before!
From then on - there was no turning back -- I also thought at first the Asylum wasn't for me - but now I've found some of my dearest friends there and wouldn't give it up for anything!! CJ Oregon Coast

Let's see, I've been on this website from the beginning actually, but didn't post until January 2006. I still remember the original home page and message board and somehow that feels ages ago. It is truly amazing to see how much it has grown and developed. Thanks Amy and Cindy for always keeping it exciting, new and fun! I googled Marty like most of you after I saw his first performance. I set up a google alert for him and that brought me here to this site. I noticed the message board but didn't really look into it. I thought it would just be like a guestbook. I mainly stayed on the home page. I eventually peeked into it to find a whole new world of crazies like myself! I lurked for months and months and months. Hard to believe, but I actually kept my mouth shut all that time and honestly thought I would have nothing to say. It wasn't until after my tickets for the INXS show that I decided I would post and talk with others that would be attending the KC show. Since then I haven't been able to shut up. I've made some great friends here that I truly adore and have been there for me through the difficult times and the wonderful times. I've never belonged to a message board and I'm glad that this was my first experience with one. Everyone has been amazing! Words can't describe what this site and the people involved in it have done for me. It has been a great year watching this site develop and being a part of it. Love you all and I can't wait to see what develops over the next year!
