Well it had to happen sooner or later! This programme is in the UK! Our own version, with David Gest as a judge(!) Watched the last of the open auditions this weekend - that was funny! ;D ;D Dawn you will have to let us know what happens in the UK version. |

I'll have to say I'm really curious to see how he portrays Edna - sweetly like Divine in the old film or a little rockin' and super-spunky like Harvey Fierstein....maybe he'll find a balance between the two...It's kinda freaky, but I love that pic of him and Latifah.

I'll let you know if I watch it again, I like the open audition process of shows like this, but when it all gets serious I tend to lose interest! Maybe I'm just cruel.  David Gest just gets weirder & weirder on every show he appears on here. |

I love the show. I wanted to see the tour in Memphis, but that didn't work out. One of my students was all confused the other day when I said "Hairspray" is coming out in July - right now that's the only thing I want to go to the movies to see. He said, "They already made a movie of Hairspray (thinking of the old Ricki Lake film).." and I just said, "Yes, but they based a musical off of it and now they're making the movie of the musical." ... I think he thought it was a bit ridiculous, but I think it will be a HOOT!
