I bought "Now That's What I Call Christmas #258,789,654,233". I don't know what number it is but it's the latest one. It has the Grinch song and Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song. Relient K does a fun "12 Days of Christmas". The kids sure love it!

HEY! The free download this week at iTunes is James Taylor (a North Carolina native!) doing a fun, funky version of Jingle Bells. I'm enjoying it.
OK, I had to put in a plug for some of my local homegrown talent ... y'know they say "Goodness Grows in North Carolina."
ha ha ha ha!

Did anyone get Sarah McLachlan's Christmas CD? I haven't but I'll bet it's beautiful...

Just about everything in our Christmas collection is contemporary Christian stuff. We have a Bebe and Cece Wynans Amy Grant Michael English
Then I have a Josh Groban cd as well as Dave Koz then I have some cheap stuff all instrumental that I got at the dollar store. I would love to get something way out there and obscure and jammin that isn't well known but don't even know where to start looking for that.
later taters Jilly

I really like the song Punk Rock Christmas by the Ramones, Something About Christmas Time - Bryan Adams, and Josh Groban - O Holy Night, I absolutely love Christmas music, as long as I listen to it on my own MP3 player, and not on the radio when it's 24/7 Christmas music, because I think they only know of aproximately 3 songs that they play in regular rotation!

hmmm. i just answered this (sort of) in that Chicago tribune poll. My absolute fave -- theme music from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by Vince Guiardi (sp?) Also love U2's "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" and The Pretender's "3000 Miles" (which really is a Christmas song). sappy fave: "Do You Hear What I Hear?". I remember singing it in chorus at school and loved the echoes!

The last Christmas CDs I bought were "Christmas with Dino" (Dean Martin), Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas (that was for the kids), Care Bears Christmas (that was for kids too), and the NOW Christmas (which was a HUGE disappointment!!!). The best song on the NOW CD was "Run, Rudolph, Run." My 5 year old loves that one, and so do I! I love the "old" songs. "Let It Snow," "Baby, It's Cold Outside," and such. Dean Martin, Elvis, Bing, the classic Christmas singers. I absolutely HATE the modern versions of these songs by <insert pop princess of your choice here>. That said, I would love to hear Marty sing "Let It Snow."

I have an eclectic mix ranging from Elvis to symphony orchestra. One nice smooth, jazzy one is by Harry Connick, Jr. (Harry for the Holidays).

I have always loved Phil Spector's "A Christmas Gift to You" album with one of my favorite Christmas songs on it "Sleigh Ride" by the Ronettes. Originally recorded in 1963, this album was a childhood favorite of mine. I think you can hear a bit of the song here: www.last.fm/music/The+Ronettes/_/Sleigh+Ride
